Im thinking this is troll bait, soley for the "alistar is crap, I use sten" lol. Sten is the most useless char imo.

I find him a bit offensively limited (though it doesn't help when I go through half the alienage quests with him using the regulation sword from Fort Drakon!), but he's very durable for me...dies less often than anybody else. Plus, I love his overpower and shield bash attacks, especially against spell casters.

During my first playthrough I found Alistair lacking as a tank. During my second playthrough, with my greater understanding of the game mechanics, I was able to build him much better and he proved to be an excellent tank.

I find Taunt to be superior as a tanking ability than Threaten, at least for my playstyle. I also advise pumping Dex and Con once his strength is high enough to wear decent heavy plate.

I found he sucked as a tank for me, sten would pull aggro from him and worked way better. Shale was the true tank for me, she could hold aggro and take a punch.

I replaced him with Sten.



Not that he's useless, I just like Sten better.
