Mage spell Contagion, is it any good?

While snooping around in Near Infinity, I noticed that the mage spell Contagion bypasses magic resistance, doesn't appear to be dispellable, and adds a permanent -2 to str/dex/cha and slows the target.  It does check against a save vs spell, but I thought this might be a decent, lower level spell to use against Golems, and other critters with 100% MR (but not necessarily overly low saves).

Perhaps it isn't commonly known that this spell bypasses MR?  Given that info, could this be a potential spell pick for a solo sorcerer?  I'm planning on using a lot of summons (lvl 15 animate dead, mord swords, etc) so I figure this will be a way to give them a bit of a defensive boost (not that mord swords need that at all).  Just debating what other lvl 4 spells to choose other than improved invis, greater malison, and stone skin.

I have no idea if it works well against golems. If it does then it could be worthwhile for that purpose. Against average enemies I find the spell useless. Polymorph Other can utterly cripple most foes. Ray of Enfeeblement also attacks strength and comes two spell levels earlier. Plus, Contagion is a touch spell which means I need to risk catching my target's attention when getting in close. I'm not saying it's a horrible spell without any use. The added slow effect and minor hit to dexterity are okay. It's just not impressive considering what else is available. I would take it if it fit my sorcerer's theme though.

I forgot about it being a "touch" spell (without actually requiring you to roll for a hit). That does significantly lower it's appeal for my suggested use. The spell description lists its range at 30 yards, but I recall after testing it out, that is not the case.

Well what if you cast Animate Dead/Mord Sword and sic your summons on the golem(s) and use it while you're guarded by Stoneskin and the golems are distracted?

I just liked that it's one of the more rare, lower level spells that ignore MR. A slow effect is quite nice, especially on fast moving golems. Too bad it's a touch spell though.

Even if it does affect golems it still isn't too good since they will probably counter the slow in the next round with their haste. I have a feeling it doesn't affect them anyway. Generally I would say do not choose it unless you want to go of your way to find a decent use for it

The golems are probably explicitly immune to the disease effect, so although the spell will bypass resistance, the disease effects won't be applied (you'll probably get the visuals and impact sound, but nothing is actually going on).

I remember I once Contagioned Yaga-Shura. It's a pretty useful spell if you can get close enough and are lucky enough. But the people you'd want to use it against aren't exactly people you can't get close to with a mage (if you want to survive long enough to cast a spell, that is), so it's really tough to find a use for it (but it's just really cool if you do manage to pull it off).

I was using Near Infinity, inspecting some of the Golem creature files (Adamantite, Iron, and Clay, I believe), and nothing showed up in their immunities list for "Disease(78)" which is the effect of Contagion (or something like that). So I'm assuming it would work, though not certain.

Actually, this is kinda funny... Greater Mummy's, who have a Disease(78) effect on their melee attacks, aren't listed as being immune to this same effect. I thought that was kinda odd.

Coupled with ray of enfeeblement, I think can insta-kill enemies by stat drain.
