Well, as a defense for myself, or explanation at least - I've been trying to spread the healing out to people I know/converse with/ say witty things that amuse me on the forums ... and the rest of the people I don't know, and it feels wrong to just hurt them because I don't know them until I have to... perhaps in retrospect a Members HoH would work more quickly if it only consisted of trollish personalities *cough RubbishHero cough* or something.

I'm one of the boring ones then. My strategy, if you can call it that, has been to buff up the people who haven't been getting healed. I have no intention of participating in the harm phase at all (Of course if someone can really get my goat then that may change. But the goat is currently safely tethered out back and guarded by fearsome wombats, so good luck with that). The internet being the internet and people being people, it's a safe bet that someone will wind up taking an attack personally.

I think this is the problem with a game of HoH with actual people. No one wants to be the bad person who hurts someone until they have to hurt someone or without a seemingly legitimate reason for doing so.

Ultimately everyone on the list will be hurt and killed except one person. Does this mean everyone will walk away feeling bad except that one person? Will everyone's feelings be hurt? Does hurting someone have to mean you don't like them? Is this just one huge popularity contest? Maybe the game should be called off for the sake of everyone's emotional well being? Or is it just a game? 

#1  If it is just a game you can hurt any name and everyone will understand its a game and not personal. 
#2  If it's not just a game then it is personal and a bad idea.

People seem to be playing like #2 (ergo not really playing "Hurt or Heal" - just heal or heal). This seems to me more likely to cause hurt feelings in the end.

For me its #1. I dont dislike anyone on this list and I have hurt many people on the list for one reason only: to try and make the game more interesting. To prove that I will hurt someone I especially like next turn.

Okay, really, everyone on this list volunteered to play knowing they were going to get hurt at some point in the game. The fact it's very difficult to get someone hurt in the second phase could be for any number of reasons. People want everyone to make it the third phase. Someone's been trying to hurt one person, but others keep healing that person. Someone is liked enough that people are bumping their score to make it more difficult to hurt them in the third phase. (That or they want to be sure that person has a big target painted on their forehead with the high score. )

The difference between this game versus the other HoH is that the games definitely had characters people truly disliked and took great joy in seeing that character brought down. The reason why this HoH doesn't have the same vibe probably has less to do with people wanting to play nice and more to do with the fact there are no true villains on this list. Stanley Woo is the closest we get, but I'm the sort of person who would heal the Illusive Man. The only way we would have gotten the sort of people you love to hurt is if the person volunteered. I mean, if Busomjack had volunteered, I'm sure the second phase would have been a riot.

If phase 2 bores you, wait until phase 3. Or wait until the next HoH game. Hey, what is the next HoH game going to be anyway?

Anyway, I'm enjoying phase 2. Sorry if others are not, but I won't cater my playing style to suit them. Feel free to hurt me in retaliation.

I also have tended to mostly heal in Phase Two in the last 5 or 6 HoH games as well, hoping to buff up my favorites enough to withstand Phase Three where there is no healing.

The problem there is that the thread would likely devolve into borderline trolling. Acting on dislike has no place in something like this.
