Hi, I tried to search for a similar topic but couldn't find a recent post. I'm just wondering if you can indeed access your DLC when offline, as my game tells me the data is corrupted when I'm offline, but it works just fine online. I got a new Xbox 360 Slim and transfered all my data over to the new harddrive, but had the same message pop up about corrupted data for my dlc. So I deleted and redownloaded all my DLC in order for it to work, but I still can't use it offline. Is my cerberus account somehow licensed to my old xbox? If so is there anyway to move that license over to my new Xbox? And I do know all about the license transfer through xboxlive.com, but I have yet to see anything about the Cerberus Account in my download history. So any answers?

(ive already done zaeeds mission as well)

i know im not much of a help but i saw this and thought it was me best chance to at least discuss it or find an answer.

The answer is "Yes" and I'll tell you how in a moment, but first some background.

The Xbox's DRM (Digital Rights Management) works like this. When you buy something from Xbox Live, it gets linked (1) to the Xbox console you originally downloaded it to and (2) to your Gamer Tag.

What this means is anyone else using that particular XBox can access any content that you have purchased and downloaded onto it. But, let's say you buy a 2nd Xbox for whatever reason. The new console will not allow you to play any games purchased on your old console, unless you are signed onto Xbox Live. This is the Xbox's way of verifying that you are who you say you are and to prevent people from going to their friends house, logging into their own account, and then downloading games/DLC that they already purchased with the intent of their friends getting that content for free.

Unfortunately this can completely rob you of the ability to play games if you have an internet outage. And back in the early days of the Xbox 360 with its insane failure rate (RRoD), this left a lot of people frustrated and unable to access their content offline when they got replacement Xboxes.

Fortunately for us, Microsoft has provided us with a method to transfer software licenses from old consoles to new ones (CLICK HERE). Note that it can only be done once every 12 months. The process is fairly simple. After you're done the license transfer process you will need to "redownload" all your DLC, but this is failry quick as you can queue up all your downloads from the website and anything already on your hard drive will "download" in a second. Hope this helps.

-----------------------
@OP: I see that you're familair with the license transfer system. You should only have to transfer the licenses for the individual DLC pieces (Zaeed, Normandy, etc). Cerberus network isn't really something you download. It's linked to your gamertag and is more like a window for downloading the DLC.

If doing the license transfer doesn't work, here is something else to look out for. When I bought my new Slim I initially transfered all my content to the new Xbox using a USB, after I transfered my licenses and redownloaded all my DLC, I noticed that there were 2 copies of Appearance Pack #1 on my hard drive. They were different file sizes, and throwing up the corrupt error. So I deleted both of them, redownloaded and it worked fine. Something to look out for.

OK, I've got pretty much the same fault, except it's not that simple to fix.

As I initiate offline gameplay the game itself always prompts the message that every single dlc I have on the harddrive is corrupt, and that I should redownload it. As we experienced a severe thunderstorm yesterday the internet is completely down, and I thought "well, perfect time to ditch Call of Duty online play and have some fun with Mass Effect 2", and since I just yesterday started a new file on Mass Effect 2 it couldn't be more convenient.

Unfortunately the message shows up: Firewalker pack, Aegis pack; close to everything is corrupt. I can't load my file since I've already played for about three hours on it, and now it requires some of the downloadable content.

Now the weird issue: as the Aegis pack was downloaded onto the old XBOX 360 20GB the rest was downloaded onto the recently purchased 250GB. Ergo; the licenses should all be on the new XBOX (except for Aegis Pack), yet it all is corrupt whilst offline.

I find this very odd, especially since I've checked all my files, everything, and nothing deteriorates from the ordinary. I sort of panicing, because what if I can't access a wireless network with my XBOX whilst studying on university level. Won't I be able to play my beloved Mass Effect? Because that's a reality I refuse to be a part of.

I now this may sound stupid (sorry for that), but I'd just like to make it absolutely clear: The only ME2 dlc you've ever downloaded to the old Xbox 360 was the Aegis Pack? You've purchased the rest after you got the new slim? And you have transferred licenses?

Ha ha, that's not stupid at all. I realize I might've been rather unclear:
Yes, since I never really had internet on my old XBOX (only rare occasions when I actually plugged the ethernet cable in) I only downloaded the Aegis Pack to it. The rest is, as you've comprehended, downloaded to my new XBOX (the one I want to play them from). I cannot undergo the procedure where I transfer my Aegis Pack license, since I just a couple of months transferred all my licenses onto that precise XBOX. But I figured the Aegis Pack wouldn't matter (and it doesn't actually, as soon as that particular file goes corrupt all that happens is that my character wears the old armour and doesn't have the guns).

So even though Zaeed, Firewalker and everything downloaded from Cerberus Network is licensed to the XBOX 360 250GB, it says it's corrupt whilst offline.

Ok, so once again a stupid question to check that I've understood correctly: ;) You made a license transfer to the 20GB Xbox a couple of months ago? If so how did you purchase your new content for the slim? Did you buy from the console itself or did you make the purchases on xbox.com? I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out if somehow the licenses might be tied to the 20GB console anyway. Because it sounds very strange that you get these error messages.

Yes, you've understood correctly! ;P

I simply moved my gamertag via a USB-memory card to the new XBOX and then used my remaining points (and purchased new points) to be able to download more content.

The old XBOX stands offline, and it is still possible to play e.g. Castle Crashers and such on it via other profiles. Maybe that's one of the issues?

Oh, all this license-nonsense is so annoying for the consumers, yet I understand it must be a necessity for microsoft. ;s

Yes, it's somewhat annoying. But ok, I always thought that content you purchase from a console is tied to that specific console, but if you buy stuff from xbox.com it's tied to your current standard console. Maybe you could check if the dlc for some reason is tied to your old console anyway, by doing either:

1. Delete Aegis pack from the slim and start the game offline and check if you can start a new career with the other dlc. Maybe for some reason the Aegis pack is the one dlc that corrupts things, even if the error message says it's the rest as well?

2. Hook up the old 20GB to the internet and download the rest of the dlc, then take it offline and see if you can use the dlc.

That's actually not a bad idea! Thanks! =)

An hour ago I sent an Email to Microsoft's support requesting a new license transfer due to "these circumstances". But even if they'd come around and let me do that, I still wouldn't be able to do it until the internet comes back up, so I'll try deleting Aegis Pack first!

Thanks for taking your time. Now all we can do is hope. ;-P

No problem! I know it's not much of a solution if the above doesn't work, but in case you find out you can't access the Internet when away for your studies you could always delete all dlc and play the game offline that way, just to get your fix I mean. ;)

I ran into this same problem with my new 250 GB. I have yet to fix the problem and just play online. However, I am finishing up some old games, so I think it's a good time to clear my downloads and try again before Lair of the Shadow Broker hits...

For me, all I ever want is the DLC, not to play online. so I just purchased an Ethernet cable & have to unplug my connection to my PC & plug in the 360. so I had hoped that after the DLC's were all downloaded I would not have to plug the 360 back into the internet every time I played?.

So from what I understand here is if you don't have your 360 connected to the net you will not be able to play any DLC?.

Thanks.

If you are playing ME2 on the console you downloaded the DLC to, then you can access that DLC offline.

If you got a new console after you downloaded the DLC, then you need to transfer your licenses to your new console in order to access the DLC offline.

This a bit old but I have the same problem.
I recently purchased a 360 Slim to replace my old one, did the license transfer process, downloaded DLC (the free stuff that comes with ME2), then my new 360 started freezing with all games and I exchanged it for another new slim at Best Buy, so I can't play offline my saves and I already did the transfer and can't do it again for another 12 months, so...I'm screwed? I'm almost at the end of the game and don't have internet right now.

While the license transfer tool only lets you do it every 12 months, Microsoft shouldn't punish you because their S was F'd. They should allow you to transfer your licenses if there were extenuating circumstances (ie your new console that you transferred your licenses to broke).

I would suggest contacting them (contact info here) and explain your situation. They should initiate a license transfer for your, BUT note that you need your console connected to the internet to do any licnese transfering.

Great topic and great Fix Janus Prospero . I had the same problem, when I played offline I could not get into any of my saved games. It was because I had copied it all off my old xbox, and had not done that licenses thing. Now its fixed and I can play offline as well as online with all my saves, I only needed to follow that link Janus Prospero put up there and re-downloaded all my old DLC (even though it was there after i copied it off my old xbox, I still needed to download it all again, but was fast. Its just a technicality, I don’t think anything was even downloaded).

Nice work guys, I did not even know about this License thing with DLC till I looked up why I could not play my ME2 saves offline. They should make it more public… but I guess not everyone even gets DLC still.

my problem is a bit different. I cannot play any of my saved games offline bcoz of my downloaded content shows up as corrupted. I did not buy a new console. However, I did change my gamertag after 2 months of playing and downloading a few DLC.

Should I re download all of the DLC and delete and re download again?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Actually, my elite was fixed but the transferring content site states that part of the repair process transfers the licenses.... hmmmm did i keep the hardisk? I don't remember...

What you describe suggests to me that you will need to recover your Gamertag; that may resolve the issue.

If that doesn't work, then come back and we'll see if there is anything else that can be done.

EDIT: something else also hit me which may be worth checking. What Gamertag is now linked to your EA account? I have my suspicions that your new Gamertag might not be recognised by the EA servers which may cause the problem.

Thanks O! i called xbox and they said the same thing. I am away from home so i just did the transfer and someone turn it on while i performed the transfer.
When I get back, i should download manually all my other DLC, right?
