UPDATE:

I got this email yesterday... sweet (although also a little confusing as the release date over here is the 6th...)!!!

I am delighted to let you know that your Preorder for Dragon Age: Origins GAME Exclusive Collector's Edition is now being processed subject to successful payment being taken from your credit card when it is dispatched. The order will be despatched by your chosen delivery method in time to reach you for the day of release.

By using the GAME 1st To Play Preorder Service you have ensured that you will be among the first people to receive Dragon Age: Origins GAME Exclusive Collector's Edition, and we are confident that you will be happy with the order, our service and our speedy delivery!

/ UPDATE...

I thought I would share an email I just got from GAME based on my pre-order...

Dear Customer,

Thank you for preordering from GAME.co.uk.

As Britain's best games retailer, we sell more games to more gamers than
anyone else - so we know how important it is that you get your preorder on the
day of launch.

However, with the high possibility of Royal Mail strike action in the coming weeks,
we understand you may be nervous that your preorder might arrive late - but you
don't need to be!

Here at GAME we're working with our delivery partners to make sure your
preorder has the best possible chance of getting to you in time for release
day. After all, with so many great games out between now and Christmas, every
minute's gaming counts!

For extra peace of mind, you can take advantage of our discounted next day UK Express
delivery*, which we've lowered from £4.95 to just £2.95 until further notice!

To find out more about what we are doing to get your order to you on time,
just click here: http://www.game.co.u....aspx?lid=12311

So don't worry - even if the postal strike occurs, we have your order covered!

Regards

The GAME Customer Services Team.

I have to admit the postal strikes where making me reconsider my order...

Probably e-mail them, I'm going to take my chances and hope they don't strike the first week of November.

Which means they will.

The strike is sure to be at the end of the week probably, over thurs & fri .

I think Game are saying that they will be using carriers to deliver rather than royal mail.

I presume their shops will stock the game on day of release so, may opt for that & cancel my order.

Same here, i went to the shop and pre-ordered from there. It's handy for me since my GAME store is just down the road from my school so i can go straight there on 6th November :P

That store actually sounds like it knows it's selling games, and not just "items".

My copy of Borderlands arrived from GAME yesterday, so I don't think that the postal strike is going to be a problem.

This postal strike is giving me the jitters. Really hope it doesn't delay the order. Pretty impressed with the GAME service so far, to be fair. Now if only EA would sort themselves out.

Yeah I've got the same e-mail, I contacted Game and you can't upgrade the delivery type, you have to place the order again, which I did last week.

As they're so sure that the postal strikes won't be a problem I assume they must be using another courier, hence the £2.95 charge or maybe that's why they're shipping them so early *shrug*

ah bugger it, i ordered way before then but cancelled my order last week in order to place it again with the 2.95 delivery thing after the strikes started. tried to get them to just change it but they said they "couldn't" and i'd need to re-order. i KNEW having a relatively 'recent' pre-order would be bad, mine hasn't been processed yet, just says "Your order is currently held as a Preorder"

Good old GAME always gets you your order on time. I wouldn't worry about the postal strike, it seems most retailers have just switched to another delivery partner. I ordered a book off Amazon the other day and it came as quickly as usual just not by Royal Mail (it was by DHL I believe).

Royal Mail are in danger of removing themselves as a service, with so much online stuff these days, and other package specialist companies waiting to jump in...

i think they are on the way out

I believe if you're worried about the postal strikes you can change your order and arrange it so you can pick it up at the nearest GAME store. :>

That's what I'm doing.

I try to be sympathetic to their plight but deep down I'm a selfish creature and if it delays my DA:O any more (my patience has already been pushed to the limit) then I'm sorry but I'm glad they use other couriers.  All the postal workers are doing is showing us what other services are available and in some cases, how much better they are!
