or EDI - a disembodied holographic representation of a weird eye on a stalk, which is the living embodiment of your ship might be useful for looking after the Normandy, or providing info from a distance but I wouldn't be keen to have the eyestalk in a firefight - not being able to touch anything, fire weapons, or do anything short of blinking, turning and angry shade of red would limit her usefulness on planetary missions outside of the Normandy...
