I'd like to use the headache animation with a sitting character. Is there anyway to lock the position, but still have the arm/head movements?

It depends. I believe if you use the pose function (if your char is sitting throughout the entire scene) then you might be allowed some manipulation of the arms, and head.

A better option would probably be to use a constant sitting animation, stretch it out, or set to "infinite" in the object inspector use less that 100 weight, and use arm and head separate animations combined. (or your headache anim)

I'll play around with that, thanks!

Hmmm.... Haven't been able to make this work. He ends up partially rising, like he's sitting on a tack, and his hand never gets to his forehead. Maybe there's a sitting animation that will give the same effect.

It will depend on animations used. Some animations affect whole character and blending them together will result in character assuming sort of in-between pose. Some animations though, like arm gestures, only animate parts of the model (be it hands, or mouth or whatever) leaving pose of the body intact.

So what I really need is a non-existant forehead touching pose with only arm and head movement....

Try this perhaps. Take the head rub animation and play it through, then cut out the parts that cause the person to move up wards. (By splitting the animation and then cutting out the parts you do not want.) Not sure if that will work but its worth a try.

Oh! Cool! That's what splitting is for! :) You have no idea how helpful it is to know that, and not just here. Well, maybe you do. ;) Thanks so much!
