*small spoilers alert*

Is it just me or is the Redcliffe mission insanely more difficult than any other?
I've cleared the circle tower without much of a problem at all but this Redcliffe has me stumped beyond madness..
Were the developers drained of inspiration that they thought it to be fun to throw wave after wave of swarming undeads at your party!? Why did they throw the balancing out the window here? I even had everyone in the village help me out (including the veteran dwarf and elf), but as soon as you're asked down to the village things get surreal. A puny band of 4 against swarms of enemies is just insanity! I say 4 because the town militia is utterly useless (and are all dead after the 2nd wave). They could've at least made these undead somewhat easier to kill if they're going to swarm you with them!! The only way to win this crap mission is by sheer luck. LUCK?!:pinched: Is that why I struggle to improve my party, give them the very best equipment silver can buy, to have luck decide my fate? It's madness I tell you.. Madness!!!

End rant.

Try registering your game.

If you can't post them in the correct section, it's best not to post them at all.

I thought it was pretty easy as well. Don't know what to tell you. I didn't need to kite at all.

Just to be sure: you do actually HEAL the blue allies, right? Like, the named ones in particular, such as the town guard commander? He's a big help.

Just buy a load of Lyrium, and have a mage (preferably Wynne) heal the crap out of all the blues as well as your own party. It doesn't matter if a few fall, but if they all die you do get swarmed.

I see..
Didn't know I could heal the neutrals too.

What difficulty are you on? Because on normal it was fairly easy.

Hehe I didn't have Wynne at that time. It was a pain in the ass. I had to do some occasional kiting too.

I'm on normal difficulty.
Then again, I never felt there was much difference between normal and hard mode. Only reason I stayed on normal was because I thought I got more loot then. But that might just be my imagination.

I thought it was pretty difficult myself, although I went to Redcliffe first thing and didn't have Wynne to heal us haha, although I did manage to pull it off by kiting them up to the knights so they would give me a hand...too bad all of the militia died though.

*no spoiler here*

One word will help you defeat the nasties in Redcliffe. "Tactics" The best armor and weapons don't mean anything if your hero doesn't have a supporting cast that knows what they're doing. Redcliffe was not easy for me, so here's what I did: Use your tank to attract as much attention as possible, under tactics have him heal himself with potions when his life is lower than 25%. Use the terrain to your advantage, set your archers/mages away from the battle. If you have a rouge set their tactic to attack anything the tank is attacking. Bombard the nasties with aerial attacks like "shattering shot, critical shot, crippling shot..ect. My party has a warrior tank, and 3 DPSers as a mage, hunter, rouge. You may have already tried all of this, it's also a good idea to set the tactics to a healer to auto heal and replenish their own mana. just a thought.

I had an all mage/leliana party when I did that. No tank. The first time I survived pretty well for awhile, healing my neutral blue allies and such, but they just kept coming and eventually I had no mana and no allies and I died. Tried it a few other ways with no success, and then finally I just set up my camp at the base of the hill so that the zombies could only come at me in one direction and just repeatedly alternated earthquakes from wynn and grease slicks from my hero mage, and focused fire while the zombies struggled to get to me (and throwing the occasional fireball, especially if grease slick was down). When I did it that way, the fight was almost too easy. The zombies almost never even got to my party

I thought this was a great battle! I fought before I had Wynne and tried a few times before using the kiting mentioned earlier. Ran out of poultices and almost everyone died...but I beat it. Fantastic!!

I beat it the first time I tried (normal difficulty) but only my main character (s+s tank) was left standing and I went through a bunch of heal potions. Unfortunateley I did not have a healer at the time, otherwise I could have saved a small fortune in heal potions.

*Spoiler for some Extra Gold* below!

Yeah....I ended up Kiting the mobs up to the knights at the top of the hill myself. If are are low on cash...what you can do is stay down with the militia guys and the named guys...and let them all die!...at which point you can LOOT all their Armor / weapons. Better make sure your bags are close to empty. (Example- My bags were half full and I ended up with around 4 to 5 gold looting the dead militia.) Remember to Loot them during the battle cuz once you start kiting the mobs back up the hill...you won't have time to loot. My 2 cents for the day....Enjoy! Perhaps I missed some quests because I let them all die..but that is why I will play the game again for added enjoyment.
