Turn on the TV if you want americans...

I'm Australian and the last thing I want is aussie accents in games (unless they're stereotypical and done badly, thus hilarious!). Seriously, why would you want to play a game where people sound like everyone you see on a daily basis? It makes no sense. At all.

I agree, though I don't know how many faces thier voice actors can portray. I've always wondered if new accents could be incorporated, but then I think about how ingrained accents are, and come to the conclusion that coming up with new ones is improbable.

Why would they even need to be a set language?

Surely if they speak metal it would transcend all audiences.

We should turn all thread ideas into a game of Madlib.

Back to the thread. They already exist in the game as Dwarves and Elves. Tadaaaa!

Happy? Are we done with this now?

I just think the language thing brought up is much more interesting than cultural stereotypes

Why not combine a mule screaming with the chipping of locusts, throw that recording in a well. Record it again. Slow down the mix then have that be the voice of the Qunari.

Is this not how it should be?

I'm not reading 9 pages worth.. I don't have the patience for that. BUT! I wouldn't like it any different than it is now. Orzammar has Americans. That's good enough for me.

I like getting away from reality and going into this mystical, medieval world. So no. No more Americans in the game lol.

If it makes American's feel any better, I see the elves more or less related to the struggle of the Native Americans and their treatment.

The elves are more like civil rights in the US. They are both free of slavery while not really free at all

ACtually then again the Dalish Elves kind of mirror the native struggles

As could be said and compared to many other struggles that have occured around the world.

Though I think Elves have been looked down upon because of their 'superior' doctrine/roots.

My family is rich, so I ride my polar bear when I go baby seal clubbing, thank you very much. Don't lump all Canadians in with you.

You should be grateful, I'm the one who goes out there to tame polar bears with my hockey stick. I live off maple syrup and whale blubber when marching through the harsh tundra, while you're sitting at home living in comfort with your fancy baby seal cub skin sheets.

Dave of Canada...this is the funniest thing I've read all week!!

I think I noticed a few more Canadian accents but Shianni's was the strongest and I can't recall who else might have had one off the top of my head.

Did you know Shiani is voiced by Ashley Williams from Mass Effect. I cant really tell the difference between canadian and american accents, because im Australian.

They're not really that different unless you've got one of the strong regional ones like Texan or Newfoundland. There are little differences, but a lot of Canadians sound just like the standard American accent.

@Dave: Maybe? My memory of Soris' voice is pretty hazy.

I will have to say that in the entire game never heard a single "aboot", must have been tricky to pull off. I know Canadians that have been out of Canada for over 10 years and every now and then an "aboot" will slip in, usually alcohol is involved.
