I remember in NWN2, where you can use the console to set the party size to 11. In other words, you can play through the game with every party member in your group. It certainly unsettled all the doorways a little, and the whole thing looked more like a private army than an adventuring group. Still, I wonder if it will also be possible in Dragon Age. I want them all!

So many interesting characters, so little room.

It is possible to add characters beyond four using the toolset.

Though only the first four characters will have their portraits show up in the UI.

Hm, maybe the rest of them other than the first four will just be the "talking crew". I just realized how badly more than four characters can destroy cutscenes.

I guess I'll just be a good thrall and play the game three times at least to see all the characters.

I think keeping it to the four is for the best. You can swap them in and out as need be like in ME. I figure the mission will help be determine who I bring along. I expect to have different parties during different parts of the game. It will also depend on which NPCs I end up like playing with the most.

I used the party limit hack on NWN 2 to play with all the npc's on the same party, it worked perfectly to get all the character interactions during dialogue, etc.

There were no bugs i think, related to party size, all the portraits showed, everything worked as if the party was normal sized, the only problem was performance wise, all those spells flying around. :)

How do you use the toolset to increase party size?

Problem with me is in games like this I always use a Core party even in subsequent playthrough's. I find it very hard to take any of those members out. BG2 I always use Minsc, Edwin, Aerie and Viconia and the last person I switched around but usually settled with Jan. In NWN2 I use the console to increase the party size to 6 and always take Elainee, Neeshka, Khelgar, A man, and Zhajevie. Before I got the A man I switched around the last slot as well.

In Dragon age I use Alistair Morrigan and Leiliana almost exclusively. It's not that I don't like the other characters. I just like my core party too much to remove them. If dragon age had even a 5th slot it would be great for me because I could alternate out the last person, as well as make support characters. Using support characters with the 4 party size pretty much gimps you considering you are very often times outnumbered 3-1 to 5-1 in just about every fight.

I really don't care about lowering the challenge, for me it would even out the difficulty more then make it easy. And adding characters through the console doesn't work for anyone other then Dog since they have no banters, unusable talents and no dialogue interjections. The only thing they have is in game events like the Dog finding the kid in the Denerim market. I want the characters not a generic meat shield that looks like them.

Anyway, an increased party size that works is the mod I want more then any other.

I'm in my third playthrough and changed things up a bit. Going spirit healer soon and will keep Morrigan in my party instead of Wynne.

I'm new here and cant seem to find if a mod for increasing the party size exists or not. I know about the mod to have the dog as a 5th party member.

If this mod hasn't been made, can someone point me to any tutorials of how it can be done using the toolset?

Thanks
