I was excited about playing Awakening - then I had to give up playing for months because I could never trigger Velanna's quest, and I wanted to play the game properly, without being locked in to an ending that I didn't want and couldn't change.

As of the  new patch, I still cannot trigger Velanna's Exile under any condition.

The bug which spawns unlimited random encounters seems to have been fixed - but this now leads to a situation where neither Velanna nor Lillith will trigger.

The random encounters have "dried up" I have spent up to two and a half hours in a single session trying to get the encounter to trigger. I have been doing this for days and days.

No encounters will trigger anymore, and Velanna and Lillith will never appear.

I have no idea what bug is causing this, whether it is the order of the quests that I am pursuing - maybe doing a job board quest has locked them out, maybe even killing the Blood Mages in Amaranthine.

In any case, I am very, very upset.

Awakening is completely lost to me, and has been for months. I will never complete this game, and due to the frustration, I am not sure I want to.

I have always loved bioware games, ever since BG, but this is just sooo painful.

I just want to play the game properly.

I hope this is fixed in the future. I may come back in a few months.

I may not.

DA:O is one of the best games I've ever played but due to the numerous threads describing all sort of bugs still present in Awakening I still haven't bought it...not to mention the incredible price. I guess I will never play it...and I wonder how many are doing the same thing.

The only bug I notice in DA Awakening when I played it was the frame rate. I have yet to verify if that was improved with the new patch. All these other bugs others mentioned I did not experience in my game or noticed at least.

Yes, I noticed that this quest was not coming up as well.

da:o and da:a are both very glitchy. save often and in separate files. they are also both amazing. you're missing out if you don't import your warden into da:a.

some glitches i encountered in da:a are:

1. velanna's quest won't trigger.

solution: create a save right at the end of the silverite mines. when the map comes up, go to wendingwood (the place you are next to). the quest should trigger. if not, reload and try again.

2. sigrun's quest won't trigger.

solution: if you pick up the law and order quest in amaranthine, you cannot activate the quest. first thing you should do, go to amaranthine in order to get the quest for kal'hirol and don't talk to anyone else. complete kal'hirol and go back to amarantine with sigrun and run by the guard captain you get the law and order quest from and go right along the wall. the quest triggers here. after that you're free to do whatever.

didn't come across anything else. the first time i played da:o, i got right to the end when you go back to redcliffe before the dark ritual option, and just outside the castle you have to fight a bunch of darkspawn and eventually an ogre. if the ogre never appears like in my case, your game is over. consider the save corrupt as you cannot continue and have to start over. even with all the glitches i love da:o and da:a

I am sorry - but that is perhaps the most monumentally stupid thing that I have heard.

No, that doesn't work. If it was as easy as that, don't you think *anyone* else would have posted it months and months ago?

The quest cannot be triggered. You are simply one of the lucky few who is *able* to trigger it under certain circumstances.

Almost everyone else cannot.

More spam BS! I wish Bioware would correct the problems, so we can enjoy the games the way they were meant to be played.

And what you said is the stupidest thing i've ever heard because after spending an hour trying to get the quest to activate i followed what they said and reloaded an old save and on the first try i got the quest to work, so actually try their advice before you say its stupid, and thank you i love lamp x3 for the help

Yeah - I tried it.

It doesn't work.

The quest is simply not triggering for most people. I am glad it did for you.

After hours of trying with a newly imported character, mine did not.

I got this to trigger by forgetting to complete her joining and then going back to Wending Woods (I missed a statue). So, try walking back and forth between the Vigil and the Forest before her Joining.

Trust me - I tried *all* this in pre-1.04.

I am the *master* in knowing which things do not affect the trigger. I have heard them all:

- Deciding who to support in trade, city or farms.

- Before Lilith, after Lilith.

- Do not activate any job board quests

- Do not do any companion quests.

- Before her joining or after

- Levels of approval

- Trigger is specific to Woods, Keep or Amaranthine.

All these things... have *nothing* to do with it...

*sniffle*

I wonder if there will be a patch before "Witch Hunt".

At this stage, I don't want to transfer...

I've had mixed results with Velanna's quest triggering before 1.04 and have not been able to trigger it so far after installing 1.04. I'm glad you mentioned Lillith because she used to trigger pretty early in the game but is now triggering really late. It's frustrating to be sure but I doubt there will be anymore patches.

I can't get Exile to trigger, either, after patching to 1.04. I've played through two imported characters since patching.

In both imports on my very first trip to Wending Wood I picked up a random encounter with elves who attacked me in a burning wood. When it happened on the first import I didn't think much of it, cleared it and continued. As I said, Velanna's Exile never triggered for the entire play through.

On my second import, again on my very first trip to Wending Wood a random encounter triggered with elves who attacked me. This time I re-loaded a save (to avoid meeting random elves before I've even had a chance to meet Velanna) and a different random encounter (darkspawn) came up on the 1st trip to Wending Wood, instead. I've completed the area including the Silverite mines and have wandered back and forth between Vigil, Amaranthine, and Wending Wood with Velanna but while random encounters trigger (rarely), still no Velanna's Exile. Irritating.

this might help, i got the quest by right after i got out the silverite mines i went to vigil's keep, then i went back to wending wood, back to vigil's keep back to wending wood etc.... until i had the encounter, which i had during the travel from vigil's keep to wending wood, i swear this worked

EDIT: it took only about 3 minutes to let it work for me, although my game crashed after the dialogue Posted Image

I think you need to have "inspired" Velanna's "minor magic" ability in order for the Silverite Mine --> Wending Wood trick to work.

after i did the quest i appeared i forgot to let armaas trade in vigil's keep, had to reload, tryed to do the same thing agian to get the quest but didnt work this time (after a LOAD of tryes), really annoying, it might have something to do with armaas but i'm not sure

EDIT: finally i have both the quest and Armaas, like someone said before with having her minor magic, i tryed it and after only 3 trips Vigil's keep <--> wending wood, i got the encounter Posted Image

I have had Velanna's approval very high in the late game, and still never triggered it.

It is possible that the "fixed" quest only triggers at a certain level of approval, but even the wiki denies this.

I am still among the large sector of people who cannot trigger this... the *worst* thing is we have never ben "officially" told what the trigger conditions are... so we cannot see if it is truly bugged.

Yet... I still cannot get it. Which means I am stuck in Awakening and cannot complete or advance.

I've never gotten her quest to trigger late in the game. I "cheat" and use gifts to inspire her minor magic ability before leaving the Silverite Mine and heading for the Wending Wood. That's the only way I can get it to trigger.

Interesting...

I have tried about a million different things to get this quest to trigger, but not that (in post 1.04).

May give it a shot...
