top ten most overated games ever
#1
Posté 14 août 2010 - 07:29
1.mw2-OMG..this game HAS RUINED the community..ever scince this game came out..ALL PEOPLE PLAY is cod..and they HATE other games..CUZ THEY ARENT COD,plus this franchise now keeps games like uncharted 2, and mass effect 2 from achieving succes they deserve..proof that if you take a game..add 5 NEW WEAPONS..10 NEW PERKS, and DESIGN THE GAME FOR UNSKILLED CHILDREN..work on it FOR 9 MONTHS..and HYPE THE GAME..it wil be succesful...hopeful the pathetic jerks at infinity ward will lose their jobs and the MW seris will DIE.
2.final fantasy series-ok the 2D ones are good..and FF7 was good to.but ever scince ff8 the series has turned into a chliche mainstream series about transexual emo teenagers fighting spirits by taking turns beating eachother up.
3.gran turismo series-where do i begin..you go 200 mph and you feel like your going 5 mph, tracks are bland, theres like 5 good looking cars, and the cars unrealisticly BOUNCE off everything..whats the fun in raceing if theres no crashes..
4.legend of zelda twilight princess-when i saw reviews and heard it was better then ocarina of time i had high hopes this would be THE BEST GAME EVER..man i was wrong. the plot was gay(oo black creaturs make hyrule grey..bring back color) combat was shacky, there was NOTHING to do other then the BORING main quest, and making link a wolf was the STUPIDEST thing nintendos ever done.
5.diablo-i guess this is a game you either love or hate..i never liked diablo..its not much to watch..and its basicly WoW grinding with no pvp at the end to make up for it.
6.tetris-i know ill get slammed for this..i never thought this game was fun.its very tedious, repetitive, and just isnt fun at all.the only reason its on top 5 lists is cuz its OLD..face it..its an outdated game..move on
7.left 4 dead-im gonna flat out say it, this game sucks, its valves worst game. it got boring in like 30 minutes cuz theres very few weapons, maps, and the campain can be beat in like an hour. plus the zombies die to easily.
8.gta series-how..iask. HOW in the world is this GOTY matierial..people never even do the main story..gta is nothing but random sensless killing with cheat codes..even if it entertains people to kill cops, and murder civiallians i dont see how thats revolutionary
9.bioshock-OK i do LOVE this game..but i HIGHLY disagree that this game is worth GOTY..the aiming is slow and annoying, jump mechanich is shaky, and theres NO replay value..cuz of bioshcok mass effect was overlooked and didnt get the credit it deserved.
10.doom- many hail doom as the king of shooters..but lets face it the game now days is very outdated and not all that fun, or great to look at
so..what are YOUR choices..share them now

My ten:
1. Borderlands - What a load of rubbish. The graphics are terrible (I'm fine with cel/cartoony, just not Borderlands), it plays horribly and to top it all off, I'm guaranteed to feel ill when playing it.
2. Oblivion - OK, I'll accept it's an alright game, but if you take it as it is, then it's incredibly overrated. The graphics are utterly terrible, the voice acting is terrible, the combat is just bearable and the storyline is shorter than Andy Hamilton. Doesn't deserve as much praise as it gets.
3. Morrowind - I bet it was impressive back in the day, but it doesn't alter the fact that all NPCs move like constipated camels, that the combat is terrible (especially at the start) and it's got utterly no sense of direction.
4. Dragon Age: Origins - Is it playable? Sure. Is it fun? Yes, it can be. But there are so many flaws with it, especially when you go towards Awakening. DA:O could have been so much more, and it's a shame it isn't what it could be.
5. FarCry - The AI is terrible. Terrible terrible. Terrible!
6. MW/MW2 - It's brown. It's grey. It's a cash cow and it suffers for it. I fail to see what's so good about it, to be honest.
7. Assassin's Creed - What a load of tripe. It's boring, it's brown and it's simply dull. Why people go nuts over it, I just don't know.
8. Fallout - I'm failing to see why it's so good. It's stupidly unforgiving, the combat is cumbersome, and it's a bit dull. Same goes for the second game, too.
OK, I'm stuck now.

And Fallout 3. While FF7 and Ocarina of Time were good efforts, Fallout 3 just plain sucks. The horrible combat mechanics ruined the game for me.

Last generation or not, the PC version has utterly terrible graphics that even Morrowind bettered. I don't know what your "generation" point has, as it would have been developed from the ground up to be a 360 game. Development started in 2002, announced 2004, released 2006 (360 was 2005), so it's hardly a stretch to imagine that it would have spent most of its life being developed for the 360.Fredvdp wrote...
The graphics are poor by today standards because it's a game from the last generation. Sure, it's on Xbox 360 and PS3 now, but only because the consoles of its own generation couldn't handle it. What I dislike most about the graphics are the facial animations, something Bethesda has never been good at. Characters in Fallout 3 also had no expression.

It's buggy, unstable, has about 3 voice actors, becomes stupidly unbalanced towards the end (especially with Broken Steel installed) and the character creator is terrible. It's a fun game, sure, but it's not without its many flaws.UBER GEEKZILLA wrote...

In no paticular order...
1. All Mario games. They generally fail for one big reason. Their only appeal is the fact it says "Mario" in the title. Mario is outdated and doesn't fit in with today's gamers. Would you rather "Save the Galaxy from the Wrath of the Reapers in a dark and exciting story full of explosions and bewbies" or "Save the Princess...AGAIN. Now the colourful blocks are in a slightly different arrangement"? Face it, Mario had it's day. It should end while it can.
2. Bioshock. Sure dark games are fine but this is downright depressing, confusing and boring and I kept running out of ammo. Everyone had a voice that made them sound like they were from old cigar adverts.
3. Fallout 3. They should stick to Elder Scrolls which they did well, Bethesda cannot do shooters. It is so retarded when you have to shoot an ant roughly fifty bajillion times for it to die. Also, you can't seem to go in any direction without being killed by either mutants or ants usually because like Bioshock I can't keep my ammo above one magazine. And everything is really, really ugly. I'm not that much of a graphics**** but some games just look so so horrible. Everything is ruined and grey and just makes me feel hopelessly bored. Same with Bioshock come to think of it.
4. Crackdown 2. There's a difference between retro graphics and PS1 graphics and this is definately PS1. As if it wasn't already painful to look at for its era, it also lacks the proper cover system it should have and the plot is confusing as hell. Zombies? Really?
5. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. It's just like an even worse version of BFBC2.
6. Most Call of Duty games. I'm not starting with COD here....
7. Borderlands. It's so repetative and at some points the enemies have stupid ammounts of health for an FPS.
8. Dragon Age: Origins. Sure the plot and characters are great but the gameplay is horrific. It consists of CLICK ON TARGET, WAIT, WAIT, HEAL, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, HEAL, WAIT, TARGET DIES, ???, PROFIT. Some people say these games take the most skill. Bull crap. These games take the most grinding. If it were an MMO I would give it some credit though. And also, incredibly downgraded graphics for its era. What is with this blood graphics? It was obvious Bioware could try better since in just a few months they release Mass Effect 2 which had brilliant graphics. Also, it's a bit try-hard when it comes to attempting to make its self dark; inserting random naked demons and getting splattered in blood from killing rats. Did I mention the glitchy engine?
9. Half Life 1+2. Rough summary. ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER ENCOUNTER CONCLUSION. Repetative, dull, slow paced, much much too puzzling, and too long.
10. Battlefield: Bad Company 2. A few reasons for this.
First part is the community. Every time I play this I never get matched up with gamers who play FPSs but instead get matched up with military veterans. You know, the sort of people who shoot you from across the map with a pistol. Real gamers play like gamers, not soldiers and that's what i'm used to.
Second part is the low health. This game relies too much on who shoots first rather than actual Skill. That's why I like Halo games. Loads of health.
Third part is the vehicles. Oh my lordy christ they can't handle for sh*t. They are also immediately destroyed as soon as they go near people because everyone spawns with anti-tank mines (another big flaw) and the maps have too many obstacles so they don't have very much space to move. Then there's the fact the helicopter is impossible to control. I have never been able to lift it off the ground. It just flips over and explodes.
Fourth part. You feel very exposed. Alot of the map is very wide open and it makes you overly vunerable.
Bonus Number 11. Everything Japanese.

Uh... OK, the voice bit was deliberate to fit in with the setting, I assume. You've come in to Rapture from outside for the first time. It's hardly going to be familiar to you! And as for the ammo? Try using plasmids. You have to mix and match your attacks, use the correct ammo types, buy ammo, upgrade your weapons and so forth. As for it being "depressing"? It's an crumbling, utopian city that's fallen due to greed, corruption and the other vices of human nature. You have moral choices to make (save/harvest the Little Sisters) and (forgive the spoilers) you kill your own father. It's hardly supposed to be a happy-as-Larry jaunt through Willy Wonka's chocolate factory!Cra5y Pineapple wrote...

Try using VATS then? There's plenty of ammo for 10mm and 5.56mm weapons. Best thing to do is use .32 rifles and 10mm pistols at the start, and then once you get up a few more levels, use 5.56 (Assault) rifles. Ammo is scarce at the start, yes, but once you really get going there's lots of it.Cra5y Pineapple wrote...

You really didn't try them, did you? Not saying either game is without flaw, but your complaints strike me as avoidable issues that stem from not playing "correctly".

Which game? Fallout 3? You don't. It's common sense to stock up on bullets before you go adventuring. What I did is spread my attacks over 3 different guns - Combat Shotgun, Chinese Assault Rifle and 10mm Submachine Gun. 3 different bullet types, 3 durability meters, plenty of parts around for repairs.Adriano87 wrote...

Sorry but alot of this strikes me that your not very good at gaming, If you play a war game and complain people are playing like ''military veterans'' somethings wrong, thats how you should play a war game, you call running into a room blindly firing at all targets tactics? It's not.
Now about Fallout 3, ammo dosen't have any weight, pick up everything you can. By the end of the game you should be a tank. Ammo for guns you dont use sell, it can earn you a ton of caps for ammo on guns you do use, stimpacks, or chems. And the enviroment looks ruined and grey becuase it's the post appocalypse, it aint a paradise. I actually love the look of the enviroment, character models need some work though.
