That's a ridiculous statement, RH. I think many people in the UK are at the very least aware of the sport.Rubbish Hero wrote...
We don't get Madden in uk, most people don't even know who or what it is.
As for us not getting Madden? I wonder what this is then. Sure looks like Madden '11 to me. And if you go to the 360 page on Game.co.uk, and look at the 10 top sellers? What's at #7? OMG! Madden!

I also detest the combat and VATS does not make it any better. Having to constantly watch in slow motion whether a bullet hits or not is boring as crap.OnlyShallow89 wrote...
Try using VATS then? There's plenty of ammo for 10mm and 5.56mm weapons. Best thing to do is use .32 rifles and 10mm pistols at the start, and then once you get up a few more levels, use 5.56 (Assault) rifles. Ammo is scarce at the start, yes, but once you really get going there's lots of it.Cra5y Pineapple wrote...
3. Fallout 3. They should stick to Elder Scrolls which they did well, Bethesda cannot do shooters. It is so retarded when you have to shoot an ant roughly fifty bajillion times for it to die. Also, you can't seem to go in any direction without being killed by either mutants or ants usually because like Bioshock I can't keep my ammo above one magazine. And everything is really, really ugly. I'm not that much of a graphics**** but some games just look so so horrible. Everything is ruined and grey and just makes me feel hopelessly bored. Same with Bioshock come to think of it.
You really didn't try them, did you? Not saying either game is without flaw, but your complaints strike me as avoidable issues that stem from not playing "correctly".
The terran campaign of SC2 is as long as allTSamee wrote...
7)Starcraft 2 - Fine, it's polished and
it's fun. It's a goddamn reskin of a 10-year-old game with zero new
features, no LAN and the ****tiest DRM known to man. Battle.net to play
offline? "Premium" maps and units for purchase? Splitting the game into
three bloody pieces so we pay three times as much? Sorry Blizzard, if I
wanted this kind of treatment I'd ask for an xbox port.
three campaigns of the original combined and there's added depth. The single player campaign is much longer than an average game so I don't get why so many people complain about this. I also don't think they'll charge the same amount of money for the expansion so saying it costs three times as much is not entirely correct.

Team Fortress 2 is a masterpiece on multiple fronts in my opinion. Probably Valve's best game ever.
It was a great game, I just couldn't play it anymore because of the lag. Were not talking bullet lag here, we're talking crash the game lag in 8 out of 10 lobbies.

Haven't tried GTA, doesn't look like my kind of game. From what I've seen, it seems rather pointless. But I'll go on record by saying that the other titles I mentioned have rightfully earned their keep. All have helped shape the industry. We can say they are overrated; maybe they are, but at this stage the argument seems a little pointless given their influence.

Actually, the only title you mentioned that I think is overrated is MW2. You really need to take each addition to the series on a part by part basis. IW didn't want to make the game, nor did they have any time to actually be creative, an issue that caused the studios demise.

You have to buy maps in StarCraft 2? I wasn't aware of this. I was already pissed about the monthly drm. I'm still enjoying the game, but this kind of stuff is a huge turnoff for me. Blizzard already has a title that requires a regular influx of money from their fanbase: W.o.W.
Cripes, how much money do they need?

Diablo 1/2: Again, I don't get it. I mean, the gameplay's okay, but at teh end of teh day I feel like I'm not working towards anything substantial, the story is lame. I don't get it. Which is also funny because people say Torchlight is a Diablo clone nad I like Torchlight, maybe it's just the art direction and such that turns me off, idk. Again, I don't "get" it.
Call of Duty 4-6 - Nerfed (in amount of content) single player campaigns and okay multiplayer, and now making people pay 15 bucks for map packs, lolwut? It astounds me the attention thee games get.
Command and Conquer - I find this series not as good as it's alternatives. Starcraft is better. Warcraft is better. World in Conflict is better. Sins of a Solar Empire is better. I mean, it's not a bad game, but why play this RTS when so many better alternatives are readily available?
King of Fighters series - I used to play SNK games as a kid too, but without nostalgia glasses it's pretty clear to me these games are obviously inferior to their competitors, (Aksys, Capcom, Namco, even Midway before the MK jump to 3d) Fighter fans are catching up though, and the last one was panned critically and sold less than its competitors, but still, the KoF games are overrated.

as for why people played command and conquer rather than starcraft its simple.. its the rts that basically brought rts games to the mainstream. as for the rest of the series, each to their own
as for the original poster dismissing games such as doom just because they are old does genre busters like this a serious diservice
over rated for me
assassins creed
MW2.. no interest in this at all despite playing and liking the first one
bioshock

1. GTA
2. CoD
3. Borderlands
4. Mario games
5. Starcraft - This one deserves a special note - I hate it because of lack of content. Story is decent, but a mere 3 races... The second one was NOT worth however much they put it into it for how long it took.
6. Red Dead Redemption
7. L4D - really... just really..? Valve screwed up here.
8. Assassins Creed
9. Sims
Thats about it for me...
And as to the reason I loved Fallout and Oblivion? PC modding.

The first one specifically, never played the other two.
Absolutely nothing good about DKC, nothing at all.
The rest I would include a bit further down would be
9) Quake 3 Arena
8) Doom 3 (ok Everyone seems to hate this game, but considering I can find more redeeming qualities in Clive Barker's Jericho I still think this warrents placement)
7) Far Cry 1 (PC game, never played the three console ones before the second)
8) Heroes of Might and Magic 2
7) Twisted Metal: Black (yes lets highlight the weakness of the system hardware be stylistic and cool, groovy noodles)
6) Metal Gear Solid 4 (fantastic from a gameplay standpoint, for two levels as that is all it really came packaged with)
5) Unreal Championship 2 (no one played this game, and it should stay that way)
4) Gears of War 2 (good game, but the overreliance on completely busted multiplayer and the lack of tightness in the singleplayer campaign sinks it, however I would put it above the previous games listed as I actually kind of like it a little but it still is way overrated upon its release)
3) Ghost Recon 2 (plays like a crappy SOCOM clone)
2) Sonic the Hedgehog (any of them, all of them)
1) Resistance Fall of Man
Not in order just ten, but I would rank Donkey Kong Country as the most overrated game of all time

A few games (not an original list I know) I consider overrated in no particular order.
1. MW2 - Same reasons as most of you. It's a decent game and I sure played the hell out of it but it's nowhere near the godsend people make it out to be.
2. Red Dead Redemption - I enjoyed it sure, but the rave reviews it received mask some big flaws. A good first attempt if you ask me but not as amazing as people made it seem.
3. Madden games - While they're good the obvious lack of significant innovation makes it hard to justify paying full price each year unless you're a super raging football fan.
4. Starcraft 2 - Again, I loved SC1 to death but all indications show this to be essentially a graphical improvement with no advances in gameplay. Whether this is going to end up a winning formula (meaning long term staying power for the game) remains to be seen.
5. Left for Dead - I'm sorry but I just don’t get it. I found the zombie extra mode in COD: World at War to be far better than the entire L4D game. To me, it was pure boredom.

You barely ever see more than 3 races in an RTS game and before it was usually just 2 so I can't see that as something bad. Too many and it's a balancing nightmare.

Agreed. Universe at War had 3, C&C generally has 2 (Red Alert 3 had 3, I believe) and so forth. If there's a different faction/race, they tend to have a unique unit but share the same base tech/unit structure.Mr_Steph wrote...

Red Alert 2: Yuris Revenge had 3 as well...as did the expansion to Empire at War. Tom Clancy's EndWar has 3 as well. It seems that 3 is pretty much the standard anymore.OnlyShallow89 wrote...

5.Super Mario Galaxy- I thought this game would take me back to the days I played Super Mario 64 since it is on my list, it obviously didn't. My little nephew loves it and for him it may be just as amazing as when I played 64, but for me the platforming is boring (Jak 2 and Sly cooper are way better) and the outfits are just plain lame (Really a bumblebee...). Also while I din't expect much of a story this one actually had more than 64 and it was terrible. I think even Sunshine was better than this disappoinment.
4.Fallout 3- Oblivion was much much much more fun than this and had way more memorable missions and a more memorable main story. After I beat it once, I shelved it until I sold it to a friend for 40$ was a good deal.
3. MW2- Me and my friends had plenty of fun with the first one, but the second was just didn't have the same feel, the maps were nowhere near as interesting as the first, lots of glitching in the first few months, and the campaign was much shorter than any other COD game.
2.Street Fighter 4- honestly I like this game and SUPER but i hardly played it for long as soon as Blazblue came out SF4 became boring because Blazblue was much faster paced. And as far as fighters go I'd put Street Fighter at the bottom of my favorite list.
1.Half Life 2- I don't know, the fact that about half-way through the game I quit because I just wasn't motivated to finish it is the reason I put it here. I bought the Orange Box late, maybe that's it and while Portal and Team Fortress make the game worth it I just couldn't get into HL and I can't get over the fact that Gordon Freeman is silent the whole game and yet people call him a great character.
