2.GTA Its more of: I don't see the point in these games than they are bad, I don't get what the appeal is with them.
3.Fable 2, Fable1 was actually quite good, how they screwed up fable 2 I have no idea.
4.Splinter Cell: Conviction A big dissapointment from its short length to its limited online capabilities
5.Spore I'd rather not talk about it to be honest...
6.Fallout 3, No matter how many times I play it, I can't get into it
7.Crysis, Looks pretty plays like a sack of cement, never been able to complete it as it keeps crashing on the last level...
8.L4D2, Not as good as L4D1, not as erie or scary they added to much, melee weapons made the game really easy and there is such a thing as too much ammo.
9.Final fantasy, Im going for the whole series here, Its annoying, over done, they should have stopped at 9...
10.World of Warcraft, Just boring....sooo boring and over priced...

Spore wasn't at all overrated, people saw it for what it was nearly the day it was released. If you were listing the most overhyped games of all time, THEN Spore would be king.

Bit of both really, because even though it got slammed, I still believe it was overhyped from being slammed ;D

What the player needs to understand is that, this game requires skills, s.k.i.l.l.s, what's that again? Skills. You have to master the controls to finish the 120 stars, you can't just read the game to completion, or pause to think , its not some movie wanna be -- so many games want to be movies nowadays, nor can you complete 90% of the objective to get each star, well sometimes you can, like during the extreme level - Luigi's Purple Coins, but most of the time, you have to perform perfectly. There is no hand holding or babying the player, you do or you dead, and you must do so with whatever you have, no amount whining will help.
Is it an aquired taste? Maybe, some of the levels becomes something you have to confront and beat, you will get frustrated, your palms will sweat, and then you decide you must beat it because you are not some weakling that can't do anything right, its no longer some cheap throw away entertainment, it becomes a personal challenge. Its there on your shelf, if you can't beat it, then you lack what it takes.
When I understood these things, I just had to respect it, when you reach the end game, you realize how much imagination and effort went into the all the levels, it is the work of people who mastered the platformer game design.
Ok so not everyone will like platformer games, and only in that case can it be termed "overated", even then its innacurate isn't it? Don't blame the game fella, blame the player.

9) GTA Series. I've owned or rented them all since GTA III, and I've never finished one. Just for reference I've finished both Saint's Row games (though that's not an endorsement of SR.)
8) FFX. Not as good as the hype.
7) Lost Planet. I can't remember the last Capcom game that hasn't let me down.
6) Guitar Hero, et al. Just learn to play a real guitar already.
5) COD: MW2. aka The Overrated FPS du jour.
4) Any fighting game.
3) WoW. Don't see the appeal.
2)The Sims. The same mundane things I do in RL, in game form!
1) Halo. The granddaddy of them all. How could so many people be so wrong?
Honorable Mention: Mass Effect 2
I got this game on release day, played through it once, and haven't made it through another playthrough yet. So many levels of disappointment: annoyed by regression to ammo, stuck working for Cerberus, have to run through ME to have a character who hasn't made horrible choices, feel like I'm fighting colored bars instead of actual enemies, etc.,etc., etc.

3.gran turismo series-where do i begin..you go 200 mph and you feel like
your going 5 mph, tracks are bland, theres like 5 good looking cars,
and the cars unrealisticly BOUNCE off everything..whats the fun in
raceing if theres no crashes..
OBJECTION YOUR HONOUR!!! If you want crashes and weird tracks, play GRID.
The GT series is the pioneer of simulation racing games. It requires SKILLS to enjoy the game( And by that I mean NOT crashing cars to send the off track to overtake them.

I agree, apart from the GRID part. GRID just has more realistic crashes and less "lol imma tunin mah car" stuff. If you want crashes and weird tracks, go play FlatOutJackhammerGR wrote...

Yeah, but I'm talking about keeping a bit of reality in the meantime. And GRID is forgiving a lot of the crashes(especially in San fransisco) like DIRT 2. The most realistic crashes IMO are from DIRT 1. Big lousy jump? Suspension and intercooler damagedOnlyShallow89 wrote...
