or use the toilet on the Normandy etc...

I see this everywhere and it never made sense to me why people would think that. The way I see it, it only makes sense that she can:

Firstly, quarians don’t die the moment they are exposed to air people! Both Tali and Kal'reegar got bullet wounds, and they got nothing more than a fever. If you romance Tali, she ends up with a cold and I can only assume that she was without a suit and in contact with Shepard for an extended period of time, lol ^_^.

Secondly, the Normandy is a relatively sterile environment. I’m sure its got a good filtration system and disinfectants to take care of the majority of microbes (like a hospital). It has to be because the air in the Normandy is circulated, think about it- if one crew member gets sick then everyone gets sick?...doesn’t seem ideal to me for a team trying to stop the reapers .

The only real reason why tali always has her suit on is because she’s afraid of catching something from the other crewmembers. If the Normandy was empty, she could run around naked all day long and not catch anything.... unless she fell and split her head open of course. This problem is easily solved by having EDI lock the door when tali is in the bathroom, keeping her nice and safe from the other crew while she does.... her thing :?. Alternatively, she can use the commander’s bathroom...greedy son-of-a-gun has a whole bathroom to him/her-self.

I know this is plausible because the migrant fleet has bathrooms/showers and quarians use them often  (according to the books). They just have to be cautious.

Im also pretty sure that their suit has a self cleaning function, after all they are highly advanced...and the quarians are engineering master-minds.

By the way, I know that they have a compartment in their suit that allows them to store their.... ah...waste. But it’s also said that it’s only done until they can get to a safe environment (kind of a nature calls emergency). Normandy is safe, no need for it.

Besides...quarians have to be clean. By not being clean, they increase their chances of getting a more serious infection if their suit is ever breached. The last thing you want is to be shot through your full faecal compartment in battle....the outcome wont be good, for the quarian and everyone around them .

Well thats my two cents on the matter anyway, does it make sense to any of you?

BTW, first post on the forums ....I sure as hell hope Im in the right section :(.

Tali + Garrus + Mordin FTW! Death to jacob!

I guess this makes sense, but it's not really true. They have weak immune systems, Quarians will always catch a sickness no matter who they're with or where they are. For an example, my house is clean, but there is always something floating around that would kill me, but it doesn't matter because our immune systems are always fighting things off 24/7. Quarians can't say the same.

It's unlikely they would "shower" because it would have to be a clean sterile environment. You can't just "Lock the door" and all the diseases instantly die or anything. And there's really no point because they're always in their suit, so it's not like they get dirty or anything.

Like I said, you're right in theory, but there's really no reason a Quarian would do it, and it would be pretty difficult trying to sterilize everything first.

Kal's comment that he's "swimming in antibiotics" after getting shot supports the theory that the suit can flush at least sealed off sections of itself.

I'm assuming that there is some sort of cleaning mechanism in the suit that keeps the skin clean from sweat and other secretions. That waste is probably stored in some expandable bladder system in the suit until it can be emptied, either that, or is evaporated into the outside air, or something. As far as urine and feces are concerned, I'm almost positive that the suit includes a catheter, and a similar process for fecal collection. In either case, if it's possible, the suit can eject either waste into a toilet immediately, or it can be stored until it's "safe" to do so later.

This is my own personal theory, I've no proof whatsoever, and honestly I don't really care if it's "officially" explained or not. I thought it was funny as hell that there are bathrooms on the new Normandy, especially considering the "Where are the bathrooms?!?!?!!!111one!?" posts on the old forums. I never really cared one way or the other. Yes, people need to use the restrooms. Do I need to see it in movies and video games? No, not really. That's just me, though.

Having a clean house is different than what I am talking about. Think of a surgery room. When someone is having open heart surgery, do they really have the immune system to prevent infections?...no. They dont get an infection because disinfectants/filtration systems in the air kill all air microbes (they give hospitals that distinct smell). Im assuming that the normandy has similar systems to prevent all air microbes from infecting people....like I said, if one human gets influenza, than everyone else on the ship does?

In fact, this same method is used to keep aids victoms safe. The quarian immune system is weak, but is it really weaker than a human with aids? If it works for them, then it should keep tali relatively safe. That is, unless someone coughs on her....which is why the doors are locked .

As for there not being a point, I didnt think so either....but the books said that they do shower :?.

Regretfully, we don't have alot of concise evidence or examples as to *How* the Quarians keep clean. The Writing teams, and the Books, have "Hinted" or mentioned that being sanitary is important to Quarians, especially when one takes into question the low immunity, and so on. I would have to agree that it's likely some form of chemical compound that circulates in the vacume like enviornment of the suits; a broad-spectrum kind of disenfectant that washes away sweat, or even finds a means of recycling it.
I'm reminded of the Still-suits from Dune, which possessed a means of reprocessing sweat into water. Now, we know Quarians can drink through a recepticle in their face masks, but at least this gives some idea as to the suits capabilities. Also, we're under the assumption that Tali's Quarian body produces fecal waste in the same manner as humans; now, it's unlike, but possible, that Quarian physiology allows them to process waste in a far more minute or completely liquid form. How that is process from there only the Writers can say.

Maybe her suit reprocesses/recycles her waste and excretions? They tend to eat processed turian food pastes, so its like they're eating "adult" babyfood ala Robocop, so I'm sure their bodies absorb most of that and reduces a need to dress down thus no excuse to actual ya know drop trou/suit to go. She can just... go, lol.

*ahem*

I kind of think of it of those Fremen survival suits from Dune.

Why is there so many of these threads asking if Tali she's dirty? Go post this in the Tali fan thread. Moderators do us all a favor and kill this thread.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was someplace that was easy to find where fans could discuss these things?

Well, in the meantime, there's the Migrant Fleet in Exile.

Thanks for the link. I created a thread dedicated to the character Tali, just about an hour ago. Just to see it locked. I sent two PMs to Woo with no reply. So guess I am heading there.
