As far as I'm concerned, Flemeth is just a very powerful mage/abomination who, through hundreds of years of life and freedom of study in magic, has discovered several abilities and magical secrets others would never know about.

She obviously has mastery over the demon in her, so she gets all the perks of the whole demonic possession in terms of power without the whole loss of your own free will thing. As for her actually being an Old God, no, I doubt she is. But through her many lifetimes it's likely that she could have unlocked the same level of power as the old Tevinter mages.

Archdemons are what Flemeth is trying to be. Except that they are more crazy. Archdemons can soul-transfer. So can Flemeth; Only that Archdemons can do it mush faster.. Archdemons can shape-shift into Dragons. So can Felmeth.

That doesn't make sense, Captain, it's like saying that all elephants are grey and thus everything grey is elephants.

Too true. But then if there are only 7 elephants that are red and fly and you see a red camel that does too. I would try to find some correlation.. no?

I like this idea a lot. A lot a lot.

Going to have to pay a little more attention to the dialogue the next time I'm playing Origins before forming an opinion.

Although, to be fair, to me personally, it seems very convenient that Flemeth just happens to know the exact spell to make a god-baby AND can turn into a dragon AND is immortal even if you kill her AND can transfer her life-energy force thing into another host basically at will.

Of course, it could just be coincidence or the writers/developers messing with everyone.

Another thing: do the words Flemeth and Morrigan mean anything in any language? It is quite a popular thing in rpgs to give names that even only resemble a word in some language, if it does it might give us a clue of what really Flameth really is.

A few people have already pointed out that "Morrigan" refers to a triple goddess (maiden, mother, crone) in Irish lore.  She was a queen of war and a harbinger of death, frequently taking the form of a black raven.

"Flemeth" probably derives from "fleme," which means to banish; to expel; to drive out.  A passage from "The Canterbury Tales" uses "flemeth" in this context:  "Appetite flemeth discretion."  Desire expels caution (good judgment).  I don't think it's coincidental that "The Manciple's Tale," from which the passage is taken, also includes references to a she-wolf (as an example of a wild thing that will never change its fundamental nature) and a white raven who is turned black, stripped of her beautiful singing voice, and cursed by a god for telling him of his wife's deception and infidelity.  (He went into a jealous rage, killed his wife and her lover, then he blamed the raven for all of his actions.)
