Using the character creator, make a character, when you reach the last review page you will see LOG IN in the bottom left of screen. Enter your SOCIAL SITE email address in the top field and your SOCIAL SITE password in the lower.
Once you have logged in (it will tell you), press the UPLOAD button beneath the character portrait. It will run a fancy graphic and most likely upload the data. This data does NOT go straight to the social site, its uploaded to a queue to then update the social site information (your profile) at the servers nearest convenience.
When the full game arrives, be it on console or PC, you will be prompted once again to LOG IN. Using the same SOCIAL SITE information as you just used to upload a character will make the ring appear in your characters inventory.
Some notes about related bugs:
You MUST enter your email address correctly the FIRST time. If you switch to the password field the email field can often (always?) lock out corrections. If you made a typo on your email address you may have to restart the character creator to enter the correct email address.

Thanks for that. I was thinking it was bugged - I still don't see my character and I uploaded it last night - but I'll give it a bit longer to start freaking out.

Ahhh thanks for the info! Will we be able to use our characters in game even though I DL'd this on my PC but will play on the XBox? Thanks yo.

probably you both should try again... Try to login, then save, then upload, it always works for me

It took 4 days for my chars to appear online. They just appeared out of random while I was checking the FAQ. Speaking of which, here's something that may be of interest:
"There are several reasons that your DA character data may not be showing up online yet. These include:
* Your data was already synced within about the past hour - the system avoids re-syncing people too frequently - be patient!
* You do not have an account on this website - the system only syncs data for people with accounts
* No one has visited your DA player profile page - the system decides who to sync based on whether their profile has been visited in the past day.
* The system has many other people to sync first - syncing is done on a first-come first-serve basis, so a big rush will delay some syncs
* You logged in to Dragon Age with a different account - you must use the same account in-game as you use on this site
* In the Character Creator, you did not hit the "Upload Character" button, or that upload failed
* In Dragon Age Origins (not Char Creator), you did not save your game - DA game progress is uploaded when the game is saved"

I just tried re-upping my character. Hopefully it works this time around.

Sometimes I have to try two or three times. Wait a bit after each try ... sooner or later it worked for me every time.

The character creator works on my computer, and I'm sure the game will too, I have a Geforce 8800 GT. The problem I have is after it says "uploading" I still can't see it on this website or in my profile. I tried to upload it yesterday (about 5 times) and I still cannot see it today.

Ignore my last post, I guess when I just logged in a few minutes ago it updated and I can now see my character. I guess logging in has something to do with it?

Make sure you are using internet explorer. I tried when using the Safari Browser and failed to upload.

Once I disabled noscripts for EA.com, the upload worked for me. If you have a java/popup blocker, you might want to disable it for EA.

why would these matter? it should be based on your comp settings and/or bioware servers, right? The upload is from the DOA CC application, it shouldn't have anything to do w/ your browser...
That being said, my characters still haven't uploaded after 2 days...

I have the best upload success by running the character creator in a window and using the social site at the same time.
At the review page after logging in, I open my browser and just read a few forums. If I'm impatient I hit upload again after a thread or two. Usually, the site updates. It does seem to respond better to social site use, so I tend to upload something to my social site album. Using this behaviour it rarely takes more than a half hour.
I have used the creator on its own, made a character and uploaded, then shut that machine off. 18 hours later when visiting the social site from a different computer, the character still hasn't uploaded/updated. After fooling about with an album tied to the social site account the character data showed up.
