maybe that level up won't count and the authomatic char save file just considers that you are at level 49. But it doesn't really matter for ME2 if you are level 49 or 50 since you start up again, therefore the important thing is that you import your in-game decisions..
So. are you really sure that you won't have already your new Shepard in the available ME2 characters, but you are confident there isn't because you are looking for a lev 50 character when he is at level 49?

Pretty sure. If I found a level 49 character in that import list, though, all my problems would be null y'know :?

I really can't understand what went wrong... if you have the saves and they are working, because you can play your ME1 campaign, there is no reason in the world they are not imported..

listen... just out of a curiosity.. Try to use the search windows function an search for

*masseffectsave* (written in this way, with the * at the beginnin and at the ending)

on all your drives... C: D: E: and so on..

I need to know if there is only one folder where are stored those savefiles on your pc, and, in case there is more than one I need to know all the exact paths where is stored every single savefile of masseffect..

Next chance I get I'll try it; computer has to be updated and all that crap.

Edit: I found out how to get rid of those old characters. Now my only problem is getting my new guy on. I have him in the files and I don't. By that I mean, I finally know what the numbers in those char files mean: The level. There's only one level 50 guy, and no level 49 guys.

I think I'm just gonna play through the game again and see if it registers this time, since my new guy has all the appropriate files except for the "char" files. Oh, and all my saves are in the MyDocuments and Program Files.

Why do you have saved files both in MyDocuments and in Program Files?! Saves must be only in MyDocuments..

Heck if I know, maybe Steam likes to keep them in more than one place

I'm going to play another new guy in ME1 and see if it'll bring him over. If that doesn't work, then I honestly have no clue what will.

imho before you do it you should copy all your saved games elsewhere (i.e. on a USB key just to have a back-up of them) and then empty all the save folders (both in mydocuments and program files) so you can start with a clean situation and then you won't have any trouble in locate the correct save files for your current playtrough

Good idea.
