why do you choose to believe there's no maker even having a huge part of the lore dedicated to it?

Because there is no evidence.

what's the evidence of the maker not existing?

I do not need to supply an alternate theory when the one i am challenging has no evidence.

it's the only one in-game, they don't provide you any other alternative to make you believe there's another explanation.

They also constantly call down doubt on the theory.

The first person who tells you it (Wynne) is quick to point out the entire story may be allegory.

Dont need to provide evidence of non-existence. Non-existence cannot be proven.

Existence can be, and until you have some evidence, i would be a fool for accepting the existence of such a being.

what does that have to do with anything? We no nothing about the universe of DA save a few things here and there about magic and the generally safe assumption psychology and basic physics and biology work the same.

Ronald Mc Donald.

There is as much evidence supporting this theory as the Chantries.

I would like to point out (for the above discussion) that the Golden city precedes all the civs (perhaps even Elven). Elves are the oldest civs known and their thoelogy starts with a preformed world. One may assume that the Fade exists at least since then or before.

The Golden city is NOT a random object in the fade, It is the only unchanging thing there. That means it was not created by Spirits whose creations change constantly. I wonder who created it.

so you do not believe the dragon age world was created by intelligent design then? it just spawned from nowhere? the same for the fade?

Again, why would that matter? The game is set in a medieval setting and the people are largely ignorant of the world they live in. You shouldn't take any of their explanations to seriously especially when the creatures from said local don't know what happened either.

We dont know.

It may not even exist.

I saw a flyinf boat in the Fade once.

Maric saw a building with pillars made of cheese.

The Fade is the realm of dreams. Anything you see there is a part of a dream and, to quote Saren:

Saren Arterius said.......
Are we allowing dreams into testimony now?

It is in fact the only thing in the fade that does not change.

Simple. Fade spirits are the ones who create the "islands" in the fade.

Good fade spirits create the ones where people go to dream.
Bad spirits create ones where they can feed off human emotion.

The black city is simply the home of a powerful fade spirit. What kind of spirit is still up in the air . . .

Which makes it an oddity/curiosity but says nothing about a Maker existing or not existing.

Wrong.

The Codex......
No traveler to the Fade can fail to spot the Black City. It is one of the few constants of that ever-changing place. No matter where one might be, the city is visible. (Always far off, for it seems that the only rule of geography in the Fade is that all points are equidistant from the Black City.)
The Chant teaches that the Black City was once the seat of theMaker, from whence He ruled the Fade, left empty when men turned away from Him. Dreamers do not go there, nor do spirits. Even the most powerful demons seem to avoid the place.
It was golden and beautiful once, so the story goes, until a group of powerful magister-lords from the Tevinter Imperium devised a means of breaking in. When they did so, their presence defiled the city, turning it black. (Which was, perhaps, the least of their worries.)
