Source means you get power from it. origin means you learn from it. If you can't deal with this, then you are your own problem. What Avernus means is the Demons know Blood magic so they can counter it. They are unfamiliar with Darkspawn taint, so they can't counter it.
Avernus is still a failure in understanding darkspawn blight magic department. Sure he understands the taint within Wardens, but he still couldn't wield blight magic. Unlike that one human mage, forget his name....

Avernus is in a bad situation for research, what with having only dead subjects, and a demon that wants him dead in his tower....

Just commenting. Also, it just shows how drastically different the magics must be if a senior mage with generations of time to experiment couldn't understand a magic unlike that one mage who only needed a couple years at most discussing it with a darkspawn. Just a comment, doesn't have to mean much, except I don't like Avernus.

francisco going offtopic and making personal remarks shows there's not much else to talk and that you are just looking a way to get out of the argument without looking defeated.
Such antagonising remarks don't help with a debate. Disagree with him, sure, but calling people out like that is... well, it should just be reserved for stupid politicians and not good ol' BW posters.

Only if you are weak. Power is for the strong-willed and idealistic ones, and for those Blood magic can be a great tool to achieve improvements.
However, if you are too weak to control this power you should stay away. Power is responsibility, and most people are irresponsible.

I completely agree with the comparison to the dark side. However, I won't say nothing good can come out of blood magic, just blood magic itself is pretty bad. You can still do good with it, good ends with evil means, no?
The temptation is the real evil part, though, with all that power, one would like to rule the world and use the power as a force for good.
I would also use the One Ring as another comparison and Gandalf's reasons for not touching it. The One Ring was evil from its creation, but I'd also argue that the development of blood magic was also evil. Using other people's life force is messed up. I would also argue that the Entropy magic tree is also messed up.

Of course, killing him would have been immoral. He was reasonable and still capable of doing good, ethical research.

If you´re a weakling that can´t handle responibility, then yes.
If you´re a proud and strong-willed being, then not.

If you are proud, you are already on the road to corruption. Anyway, I would argue that there have been good monarchs in the past, and not everyone is corrupted by power and there is no case in someone having absolute power. It is a good saying to keep in mind, but there have been people with power who were very decent.
Edit: Sith are very interesting and all, however if one would just not be so proud, they would survive more often.

"The word may be used to disguise the fact that a proposition is really just an opinion, especially in rhetoric. A saying about people or an accepted truth about life in general is also a truism."
