Not all, there are trees and other plants (though some of them eat things, most don´t). And bacteria.

Jowan uses blood magic and is healthy enough to escape from a heavily fortified structure so not every price you pay for blood magic is all that heavy. And even if it were, would it be any different then jumping in front of bullet to save someone. It is your life to give and you may spend it however you wish.
Secondly, why is mind controlling a suicide bomber just before he takes himself and a crowd of people out an evil? Why would ripping the life force of an enemy on the battlefield be evil if you are going to kill him anyway and the life force you just sucked away will keep your position from being overrun? How's about using dreams to track and locate a serial killer or sniper or some extremely dangerous escaped convict? To me, none of those situations are evil and all are perfectly justifiable means of winning a battle or getting yourself out of a real mess.

Well, come to think of it, most do, but it´s strange to read this on an English / American website. The USA are the ones who call every freedom fighter a terrorist.

"No," says the woman in the chantry, "it belongs to the maker."
"No," says the man of the Qun, "it belongs to it's masters."
"No," says the templar, "it belongs in the grave."
I rejected those answers, and instead I chose something different. I chose the impossible... I chose Blood Magic.
We must reject the madness of the mundane oppressors and go forth in a new direction. A direction of limitless opportunity and creativity. Every mage a god! Imagine it... paradise on thedas!

You know that this is Ayn Rand's writing, right?

Well your own and allies are freedom fighters, the enemy are terrorists. Without trying to make political statement to any rl situation, I think good and evil in a story depends on who is telling it. A wise person wouldn't judge a situation on one-sided information.
As one can see many things in the world can be seen from more than one point of view obviously. So ... even the Chantry and Bloodmagic. I have to admit at my first playthrough(s) I was all on the side of the Chantry, since naturally, the majority of 'good' folks support it. Duncan, Alistair, Leliana, Wynne, Eamon, and many more. And it is easy to see that bloodmagic is something ... demonic.
But the more I think about things I notice that some don't make sense. If I look at the Chant of Light and the history of the Chantry then I can't help to notice that while the Chant preaches peace, the success and spreading of the Chant mostly happens violently. Or that the Chantry exists for thousands of years but did not manage to find any clues about how to stop or prevent Blights, unlike the Grey Wardens. And while the Grey Wardens support the Chantry, their power and knowledge mostly comes from blood magic. You can say, without blood magic the first Blight would have wiped out all of Thedas. And I don't understand why faithful people gain nothing from being so, while all others grow in their skills.

Who said I agreed with her? The poor and oppressed mages of the world must rise above mundane concepts of class, ability, and gender. What wisdom does a self-absorbed homewrecker have to offer living gods? What invention can a man create that surpasses the ability to manipulate the very foundations of the universe? What position of godhood can a thousand sovereigns buy?

Guard: Let me see your identification.
Blood Mage Hawke: [with a small wave of his hand] You don't need to see his identification.
Guard: We don't need to see his identification.
Blood Mage Hawke: These aren't the elves you're looking for.
Guard: These aren't the elves we're looking for.
Blood Mage Hawke: He can go about his business.
Guard: You can go about your business.
Blood Mage Hawke: Move along.
Guard: Move along... move along.

Given that Blood Magic can control minds, would anyone else like to see some dialogue options for it? Much like Force Persuade in KOTOR. If nothing else i really want this conversation to happen at some point in DA2:

Suddenly I no longer want to roleplay a Martin Luther style character. Ayn Rand all the way! It could become an epic tragedy. I must plan this out.

The U.S. choose to use the nuke to end WW2 and to save countless other lives in needless battles.
I do not think that that was an evil act. Just because something is dangerous, it does not mean it can not be used.
I believe it depends on a given situation and the person, wielding such power.
Totally fail example.
I agree with your point that dangerous things can be used to good end, but the use of nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was simply mass-murder of a few 100000 people and is no better than the genocide committed by the N@zis and the Japanese.
I see your point. Germany can count it self "lucky" in a sense. If those bombs were ready "earlier", Germany would have coped it.

I used BM in DA:O and it was very useful...especially when my mana ran out. Thanks to blood magic I used my mage like a "tank" character...and quite effectively.
In DA2 it's also great specialization and I will get it as soon as possible.
Some people are complaining about BM, but that's just because they don't know...how to use it properly. That's all.
