I have little time to play those days, so I usually stick to normal difficulty. But since the devs said that this last DLc was hard and indicated to experienced players, I expected some problems. Yet only 2 fights in the whole dungeon proved challenging: the room full of elite golems (that I bypassed) and the final boss.

So I got curious: you guys that played in higher difficulties found it actually hard?

I played and completed it on hard, and yes, it's hard. Harder than the other DLC's.

But it all depends on your build really.

I dont suggest playing Golems on a diff lower than Hard, otherwise you wont get the real feel and challenge.

Theres a review on Grey Wardens.com where a guy bashes the DLC because it was too easy.

He incedentialy played with a near lvl 35 Warden with max gears and items and never played higher then normal difficulty.

Yes, It's really hard on hard. I always play DA on hard and I had read some info about the challenge of this DLC, but still, I didn't expect the difficulty and effort you have to make to beat that harvester creature. I beat it on hard after 3 failed attempts and my win was a close one. The room you bypassed which is full of elite golems is also challenging but it has one of the 3 special items / rewards of this DLC. Without tactics and tricks it's unbeatable though. Golems of Amgarrak was by far the most difficult quest in the Dragon Age world for me.

Lucky for me you don't have to actually beat the golems on that room. Managed to get all chest there without triggering the golems.

I thought it was easy until I got up to the boss. Then it became hard, I think around one out of every 20 attacks would hit. And I had an attack score of around 120, perfect striking is necessary. I played it on nightmare, but then everyone died but my warden so I moved it down to normal and beat it.

Started it as a level 23 mage and it's impossible.

Not to be arguementative but most folks that play it will play it with maxed out characters with full gear as most folks not going to restart the game just for this DLC!

IMO most DLC should be designed for almost max/max level characters

Difficult; yes, but not impossible especially as you can gain a couple of lvls before the final battle, and get a free Respec.

I didn't need to respec and I take back the comment. I have finished the DLC.

Since my main character is a leader-style buffer/healer, the DLC was difficult until I got the rest of my party, but resorting to luring foes away so I could take fewer at a time allowed me to get the whole team. After that it wasn't as difficult.

No argument there, the fact still is there was no challenge on normal mode. Im saying any character should at least try it on hard because it really does prove to be  challenge. I was excited when I died alot with my 35 maxed Warden on Nightmare (A Character that soloed Origens on Nightmare)
If your gonna play it on normal dont even bother, just set it to easy instead.

Tbh guys.. This entire game and with that I mean Dragon Age Origins and the following dlc is very easy. Everything needs to be played on nightmare for it to be a real challange, can't really say it's an easy dlc if you play on normal.. What isen't?

The question was; is this dlc hard? Yes it is, very much so. What ever your specc is this will be a tough challange. With my cunning/backstab rogue which I did solo nightmare with greater ease then the other characters I have had attempted this it was with difficulty to say the least. The last boss is a nut-****** and you need to spend allot of time to figure out how to beat him/her.

if you play on consoles hard would be like easy on pc. the game is being scaled down quite a lot at consoles. and yes, the dlc was very difficult compared to all the other da:o stuff available.

On what do you base that statement?
I have played both and found the pc version much easier to manage due to the top down view, the ability to issue individual move orders to squadmates, and a greatly expanded hotbar.
True, there is a difference in friendly fire damage on console versus pc, but saying console hard plays like pc easy is very misleading.

I find the different versions equally as challenging, albeit in different ways.

AHAHAHAHA! It's not scaled at all, PC's waaaaaaaaay easier...Due to being able to position people in pause, a longer action bar. etc.

Personal experince and what others have told me, Nightmare on consoles = hard on PC. Nightmare on PC is a littlebit more difficult. You have alot more options though to manage on PC like the pausing that consoles dont get. Consoles are real time all the time pretty much.

I played this on nightmare with a super rogue and it was superhard even then. The thing to to do is to stay on the Harvester especially when the beast flees and hides in a corner. Trying to fight off the Harvester spawns is a losing propostion left to your crew.

I played it on Hard. It was actually... HARD and I mean very hard . I liked a lot that DLC (even if I prefer more storytelling ones like Leliana's Song ): it was the kind of challenge I expected from the original game. I've got problems in most fights and have to readjust my normal tactics since you can't recruit a mage  and my PC is a Board/Sword warrior (that should be a proof that the level of difficulty in DA:O is based on how many mages you carry with you and that the mage class is overpowered).

The hardest fights were still against the elite golems and the harvester, especially the second one. After 5 or 6 failed attempth, for the first time since I play DA:O I had to tune down the difficulty to normal while I respec the rogue in to an archer. On nomal I made it at first attempt. Then I tried again on hard and I made it: but without the archer respec, I would have never made it honestly.

Only complain: no xp, no overall consequences on thedas, no revelation on thedas history, the same old tired plot of science gone mad.

On what do you base that statement?

if you dive through the difficulty rules file you will notice dev comments about the damage scaling at consoles - and yes, it is scaled down ;)

so if you play hard at consoles it's not compareable to the similar difficulty setting pc gamers are experiencing. oh, and it has absolutely nothing to do with bashing the consoles, it's just a fact.

I still haven't beaten the last boss on nightmare. I am going to rebuild just to beat harvester on nightmare, preferably solo.
