man i played it on normal cuz i heard it was ridiculously hard......and it really was pretty challenging
other than the fact i restarted the golem room about 5-6 times cuz i kept on getting pwned, it was a pretty enjoyable DLC IMO. Kinda too creepy for my taste lol though, so i guess i liked Leliana's DLC alittle better.

Have to agree. Having a challenge is cool, but I'm more of the story type. In case of got tired of the golems, remember that you don't have to fight to get the items in the room.

I wondering what was the lowest level for people who beat the game on Nightmare?
I could never beat the boss with level 25 rogue from origins. Must have reloaded 20-30 times with no luck.
Then I played it with my level 31 rogue from Awakening and beat the boss from the first try.

On nightmare it's hard to say... let's just say I haven't heard of anyone beating the harvester on nightmare with a new level 20 character...

I can't kill the last boss on normal mode..... sigh

I did everything except the harvester on nightmare with my lvl 32 mage (not even close to an optimal mage build; it was my first character and I never respec'd). Took me quite a few tries with the golems, and a lot of micro-management, but I did it (hint: group everyone behind the walls of one of the little nooks; that will protect you from the boulders).
The harvester though, that was ridiculous. I tried about 10-12 times on nightmare, and once almost got to phase 2. A couple times on normal, then I just gave up and put it on easy and stood still casting storm of the century and inferno on myself.

You can beat him with some micromanaging on normal. but it still took me 2 tries to do that. My mage was based on buffing the party and using AOE to get rid of the damn undeads.

Whoa, I found that hard on hard. Used to playing normal as I don't get much time to play so like to finish games. But I found that really enjoyable, actually felt I had done something a little more than normal. Had to do a re spec and ended up doing for a dual weapon rogue rather than an archer. I ended up with just the warden left and had to use so many potions to stay alive, and bombs to finish it off. That thing was unreal! Really challenging DLC.

the final boss fight requires some good build characters otherwise it's hard to be beaten

main problem for me was lack of spirit healer mage. without those healing spells it was harder. mainly because you cant always use potions.

Ummm wow. Old post. This was hard to do on NMD, imo. It took me so many trys. I ended up using traps, which I think is a cheep short cut, but I'm a terrible kiter. Trapped the back room and first part of front room in order to deal with the two stages of the battle. Only problem was keeping the spawns from triggering the traps. Had to have the tank keep those spawns agroed while I pulled the big baddy into the traps. And I am trying to recall, but I think nature damage didn't work too well, so no Acid traps i think.
And ooo this all sounds way to geeky.

I managed to complete it on nightmare, but only with a mage, and only by taking some of my companion's gear in awakening on the last save that I imported into GoA.
Otherwise, no mage, and I can only beat it on normal.

I did manage to beat it on nightmare without a mage (level 35 rogue), and it was actually kind of trivial with the rogue.
But when I tried with some of my level 30 Orlesian wardens, it was impossible. Well, it probably was possible, but I simply didn't have the patience.

My rogue ended up soloing the room full of guardian golems. And of course, using traps in the harvester battle makes it a hell of alot more manageable when he starts inviting all his friends to the fray.
But on nightmare, it was a different story, and even traps couldn't cut it. I needed the imobilizing and crowd control/mass damage effects of a mage. I beat it with a blood mage/shapeshifter/battle mage pretty easily.

What made the fight trivial with my rogue was her sky high defense, which was at something like 220. The Harvester could barely hit her so it wasn't a hard fight for her. Although all the companions died pretty early in the battle.
The Harvester is simply a great example of how NOT to make a difficult fight. It's frustrating, tedious, and just plain annoying.

My dwarf rogue was far more strength/dex even, so that's probably why. My HN rogue might not have a problem with it.
The harvester and archdemon are examples of what not to make a fight like. The archdemon was easy as hell, but tedious and anti-climatic. The harvester just plain tedious.

Yeah, the Archdemon is also a pathetically easy end boss. Although I will admit that I do like the Archdemon battle for the atmosphere, fighting alongside Kardol, Irving, etc., as well as being surrounded by hordes of darkspawn and calling your armies...
Those things made the battle enjoyable for me, but not the Archdemon itself.
The best example IMO of how to make a tough fight is the Cauthrien battle.

Yep.
I also thought that Leliana's song during the prison break was also somewhat challenging on nightmare (blasted mages).
And I thought that the Mother was harder than the Archdemon.

The Mother was definitely a more difficult fight than the Archdemon, though that was mostly due to those damn tentacles and the childer grubs. A ranged party works the best during that fight.
And I agree that Leliana's Song had some hairy fights in the prison break.
