IMHO, shotgun is harder to use than AR on most classes, but is really rewarding once you get your playstyle going.
Anybody has comments on an adept with GPS ? I never tried it, but it sounds fun to me. Many people took it, but no feedback yet...

Both the "caster" classes, Engineer and Adept, should pick up the Mattock. They need the suppressive fire and the DPS. Not to mention, both are kinda squishy. Unless you're willing to take a shield power for your bonus, you'll generally have to take the first available cover for these classes until you whittle down the enemy herd a little. Most battles will therefore begin at long-range until your powers have effectively gained control of the battlefield... that's where the Mattock comes in handy.
Yeah, this is a good point. but I tend to think the locust and Predator (my two stock caster weapons) have a high enough rate of fire to cover shields, barriers, health and armour. they lack DPS admittedly. but they also have enough ammo thanks to the high pick-up rates. I'm finding that the classes where I have AR and SMG, I pick one or the other at the start of the fight and stick with it. the exception is the mattock, where I use it instead of the predator and occasionally switch to the SMG if ammo/ shields become an issue.
The GPS, for me, covers something that the casters don't have. its a close range panic weapon. i don't always build my play around it, but it seems good to have there.

I wouldn't really describe the GPS as a close range panic weapon. It's primary claims to fame are it's long range and huge damage per charge up shot - neither of which really fit the 'panic weapon' idea.
Personally, I prefer the Scimitar for that. Admittedly it's not as flexible a weapon as the GPS, but on a caster character actual weapon flexibility doesn't often mean much.

Now my 'casters' take AR training, because of the Mattock. Casting power through a SR scope is annoying.
@Tony Gunslinger
Gatsby made vid with a claymore wielding soldier a while back. Haven't seen many with that set up

Still less damage than a point blank HeAR charged GPS shot though, but it does destroy harbinger pretty quick. Personally, I hate the revenant so it's a choice between claymore and widow, and widow has an edge in my opinion. Firepower pack also changes this choice alot, as having the gps and mattock is a world of difference from scimitar and vindicator.Tony Gunslinger wrote...
Here's a random thought: a Soldier with HeAR using the Claymore can do theoretically the highest damage, more so than the Widow?

What about the Incisor Sniper Rifle? 3 shot burst on a sniper is nice
In theory it is. In practice, it is the worst sniper available without any doubt. 3 shot bursts makes you lose accuracy on moving targets and makes it damn harder to land 3 headshots, let alone do it reliably. It also suffers from a terrible ammo efficiency. It can be fun if you like the looks, sound or feeling, but it is not the optimal sniper for any class.

It looks cool and sounds cool. But the ammo capacity issue is crippling.
I tried that once in Garrus recruitment mission (ammo everywhere) Even there is a pain. You constantly have to move from your postion to get ammo, and two clips don't refill the entire thing... Eclipse mercs have made it into the base

Infiltrator = Geth shotgun
I start to thin their ranks with a sniper then move in cloaked with a shotty to clean up.
