Was the WASD movement bug ever fixed?

In later patches, a strange bug was introduced into NWN2 that caused some movement problems. When moving with the W-A-S-D keys, when you stopped your character would spin in a random direction. Supposedly this bug affected NWN1 and Dragon Age as well, but I can play either of those games without any issue at all. This bug caused me to revert to an older version of the game, which eventually locked me out of many modules. Some might suggest just using point-and-click to move around, but overhead exploration ruins the immersion for me (though I'll admit, in combat I'll switch to overhead.)

So if anyone has an official, or unofficial, fix for this, I'd appreciate it. One of the strengths of the NWN series was the immense number of modules available, unlike Dragon Age which seems to have a singular dearth of free downloadable adventures.

Was the character spinning or was the camera spinning?

I've had a "spin" effect happen to me when I've adjusted the camera left/right while pressing one of those keys. Moving the camera again in the same (or opposite) direction stops the spinning IIRC. It might be a combination of moving the camera and the character to stop it.

Basically, it's like a "sticky key" effect, if that makes sense. Just work backwards to undo.

It was the character spinning, not the camera. To recap, if you had been holding one of the movement keys down for a while and stopped, your character would spin and face a random direction. IIRC, there was a fix in 1.21 or 1.22 for a multiplayer bug in which spamming WASD would cause slowdowns on the server. This problem appeared about then. If you search the old bioware forums, you can find other mentions of this bug.

Actually, it isn't so much a spin as it is the chatacter suddenly turning when the character stops. I have seen the same thing happen in Dragon Age as well.

But no, there have been no updates since 1.23, so the issue hasn't been addressed.

Yeah I had (and have) this bug as well. I too have only gotten around it by downgrading to 1.21, and I've never seen it in any other game. Oh well.

i've never seen this in 1.23 so not sure if this helps, but the nwn2 client extension, by skywing addresses some WASD issues and might be something to try.

I feel ripped off. I bought 5 copies of this game on steam for me and my friends, and its so buggy with this turn around stuff that now none of us want to play it. I have done search after search. It seems the Dev's are aware of this issue and have just not bothered to fix it and even released it on steam KNOWING the last patch had this unforgivable flaw. Which corporate decision made this?

There seems to be no fix other than people say to not play with WASD. That is NOT a fix.
