Vampire Bloodlines

Dialogue choices are fantastic, especially for Malkavian.

Jade Empire,

I loved the setting, combat and storyline. I know many people thought it was a poor outing by Bioware, but some of us absolutely loved that game.

Well mine was Oblivion due to the great mods such as teh Spires, and such other epic quests on them. But then thanks to bethesda not updating the game it refused to play anymore. I've yet to play Morrowind or DA:O.

So my favorite RPG that i've ever played would have to be a tie between Fable:TLC, and Assasins' Creed.

Maybe DA:O might be the new contender. So long as its' not a "wall of text" rpg. As i'm the type of person who instantly stops playing a game when they see wall of text.

I've pretty much played every game listed here(didn't pass many of them, like Morrowind)

so I'd say I know my stuff.

Planescape:Torment. Blew my friggin mind!

Followed closely by Fallout 2.A mad insane world, with sick humor!

Honestly, I can name other games I adore (vampire:bloodlines, FF6,

Deus Ex, BG2, Witcher, Shadowrun(Genesis), KOTOR 2, etc)

but these 2 go beyond any other experience.

Oh, someone just reminded me of a game. Shin Megami Tensei:Nocturne.

One of the BEST PS2 RPGs, if not the best.

Lite on story, HEAVY on atmosphere and customization.

Hands down the best created RPG of all time has to go to BG2 with throne of Baahl!!! Morrowind was absolutely horrible!  I could nt even get through 2 days of playing it.....( my opinion)
Now having said that dont you morrowind fans get your pantyloons in a bunch! I think if you played morrowind first you might be more partial to it because you played it first......

Nope, sorry, I've been gaming for close to 30 years now and Morrowind wasn't the first RPG I played. Heck, even BG wasn't the first RPG I ever played. So your assumptions are wrong. It MIGHT just be that people have different tastes? :) Isn't that what this thread is about?

Morrowind is, for me, the best RPG I've played. That game was breath taking pretty much from the point where you leave the ship. It hooked me for months and months, and I even got interested in modding because of that game. There are some other RPGs that I consider 'good' though (BG series and DO:A is in that camp), but I don't consider them 'great'.

Hmm I didn't finish DA:O yet so I consider it not rated.

That leaves me with.

- The Witcher : Exelent nasty and bitter story

- Vampire Bloodlines: great mood and setting

- NWN: If I would devide the price I paided for the game with the hours I've played it I think the price a hour would be about 0,000000000000001 Euro cents an hour :)

- Lands of Lore 1: Since it was the first RPG I played on a pc (yes I'm that old)

Best RPG of all time is a hard one. As most of you, i played a large selection of those listed. BG2 and Fallout 2 instantly spring to mind as games i played with great enjoyment. But also in running would be Wizardry 8 and Arcanium. Overall, not the best games, but my memorys of them both as a nipper are fond. And some of the ideas and sheer scope of what you could do in Arcanium was unimaginable as a kid.

So i couldnt name one. As some i remember to be better than they probably are.

Baldur's Gate Trilogy. Hands down. Though I've been told that PS:T is worth playing and have been eaten by Dragon Age instead.

All games mentioned are very enjoyable but if I was forced to choose I would pick two:

Eye of the Beholder, because it was my first RPG and

Crusaders of the Dark Savant because it's the best of the Wizardry series.

Planescape Torment was the best story in a game ever. Also the various endings and the party members, who all had very compelling stories we're briljant. The fighting however was more a filler than anything else. A bit too hard early in the game, way too easy later. Spell effects we're great too and you just have too love a female half demon with a rattail.

But because of the fighting I would choose BGII over Planescape. BG II mind you cause it's so much better than BG1. Also a bit biased because of the great replay value because people made briljant extra's online, thanks for that btw, hope you do it for DAO to!

But man, the story in Planescape.........

Neverwinter Night Series was my favorite, played them so many times; I may just play them again after I get done with DA:O. Morrowind/Oblivion are a close second for me.

I would say Baldurs Gate series, with a very special mention of the map structure in BG1, best ever.

- Secret of Mana on the SNES (first RPG I have ever played, but I love it!)
- Fallout 1+2 (part 3 was also pretty cool)
- Baldurs Gate series
- Planescape: Torment
- Mass Effect
- KOTOR

Loving Dragon Age by the way, might make it on that list some day. ;)

EDIT: How could I forget KOTOR?

I never played planescape torment (I think the thing that turned me off was seing that floting skelton head companion in some screenshot lol) Should I try in the Holidays?

Don't let it end like this! I didn't like it the first time I tried but it was due to a specific mood and expectation I had - I felt like playing classic Forgotten Realms RPG with dwarves, elves etc. It sometimes happens that you miss something great just because you have an incompatible mood. However, I tried it again and I'm grateful. It has been really the best game ever, very touching story and atmosphere. I guarantee you that you won't be able to get it out of your head.

The graphic might seem a bit repulsive, especially on modern screens, but look for tweaks the community made, including High Resolution Patch and you will find that this game is just like its protagonist - it cannot die.
