What can I say? I'm a fan of the workings of biotics and people that are biotically gifted Posted Image  I just love using them in game and I find the way people treat biotics and how it varies from humans, asari, and krogans really interesting....

Soooo... fans unite and discuss.  Who are some of your favorite biotic ME1 and ME2 characters and why?

what's your personal stance on biotics? The reparations of L2 sufferers and the more advanced L4 and L5's....

Do you play your Shepard as a biotic?

My Shepard is a biotic and I found the biotic's plight in Ascension to be especially gripping. If you haven't read the ME novels, you should pick them up. It definitely gave some insight into the opinions of the majority of the people in Mass Effect and then some of the minorities too.

I probably wouldn't have played ME if it hadn't biotics. Guns are nice, tech skills useful, but biotics are just awesome.

For me the coolness of biotics sort of dropped from ME1 to ME2 with the universal cooldown and seemingly every other character having biotics. Isn't it supposed to be rare?

I will not argue that biotics are not incredibly useful still. They are. And don't get me wrong, I've played through as sentinel, adept and vanguard already.

I found the shooter aspect of the game to be much improved in ME2 on the other hand, in spite of the ammo system and removal of the modding system. They obviously put a lot of effort into improving this part. It just feels better now.

I wouldn't have played ME1 if it wasn't for the biotics. I think ME2 would work without them though.

Biotics are extremely OPed up to Veteran - and remain so on Insanity though some practice is required to get the most out of it. In ME1 a Soldier can use Singularity, I prefer the ME2 bonus power system and don't mind the RP perspective much. I like using different bonus powers on different classes.

Biotic Charge is the most powerful power in ME2 (for me at least) - once you get going; you can't really die, just keep charging and SG everything to death. Very cool ablitiy, loads of fun and the improved shooter aspect makes charging around really intense. Vanguard is great, but I got a bit tired of repeating a (cool move) over and over again. Adepts are still very powerful on Insanity and although you can't disable entire rooms all the time like in ME1; extreme CC, but it took a while to shoot and kill all enemies. ME2 focuses more on the shooter/action stuff and less on powers - they remain powerful and define each class, but you can't use them as often as in ME1. The good thing about biotics in ME2 is that they can be used to kill. and kill quickly. Yes, defenses need to be stripped first, but once they're gone, biotics will finish them fast and easy (unlike ME1).

I love ME2 biotics even more than the ME1's - can't wait to find out what Bioware has in store for the Adept (maybe separate cooldowns, would be nice) :)

I hate biotics in ME2. Its lame that they dont work against armor and shiels.

I like biotics don't work the way they did in ME1 - gamebreaking, pretty much the same as cheating. Enemies cannot even dream of touching the Adept. If you like playing (biotic) god-mode, I understand. But I like to be challenged a bit, and ME2 isn't a very hard game.

Warp (and Reave) are great against barriers (only powers who recive dmg multipliers against barriers) and armor. Best shield stripping power is Energy Drain (you can use squadies too). Adept is very versatile class and you can setup devastating combos with the help of the right squadies.

I have no trouble playing on Insanity (even solo) - Adept is definitely my favourite class, check my sig for some cool Adept videos. Thisisme's vid inspired me to accept the challenge; to play like he did and tear the place down in (biotic) style.

It's really not lame. I hated the idea at first, but then I realized it just means you have to play it a bit smarter and also that biotics were extremely overpowered in ME1 (you could even lock down the reaperfied Saren with Lift :) ).

In ME2, you should have a means to destroy every type of defense in your squad. Once just one enemy is down to health, you can start setting up Warp explosions for mad damage.

By the way, although it is not obvious from the description, Singularity actually does stun enemies through all defenses.

My main gripe with biotics (and with ME2) is that I'm not sure the universal cooldown was the best way to balance things. It really can feel like you're just waiting for a cooldown half the game.

Yes. I like the way it was hanled in DAO where each power/spell has its own timer. In DAO you need enough stamina or mana (depending on the type of power/spell) to be able to cast at all. That is a transparent way to cap spamming. Something like that could work for ME as well.

I am a fan of biotics too. Weapons are cool, but secondary to me. Collecting ammo and termal clips is what holds me back. If that was removed from the game I would miss it like a tooth ache.

This is just me, but from the beginning I felt that being a biotic would be a significant plus when the Systems Alliance was considering who the first human Spectre should be, or even for N7 training before that.

Also, after reading the books that mention the quirks that come with being a biotic, I keep hoping to see a reference in game to the static charge that biotics tend to build up...

This can be a problem, especially in early game Insanity when you don't have your passive mastered or the Biotic cooldown upgrade.  I just try to remind myself to shoot in between.  Again, this is a problem in early game Insanity when your shields aren't what they could be.  Still, though, you should be able to strip a standard foe of its defenses while waiting for your powers to recharge.

But I agree.  The universal cooldown isn't perfect.  I don't think it makes Biotics underpowered or anything.  But it does lead to undesirable downtime on harder difficulty levels without the proper upgrades.

This. While i didn't mind universals in principle, I don't really think reducing their power against defences *and* this were well thought-out.
