In regards to MaleShep not being emotional enough, why do you expect Shepard to be all emotional? He is a veteran marine with a take no BS sort of attitude. Or at least I envision him to be. Sounds like something the Tali fans would have a problem with...

but heres the thing for shepard to have a no BS attitude he would have to get angry every once in a while. it's hard to potray a character as angry when he talks in a flat voice. and also my shepard has the colonist/ sole survivor backround. I wouldn't expect somebody to go through things like that without some sort of emotional problems veteran or not.

Male shep sounded much more fit for the role in both ME games IMO. Hale never sounded quite right to me for the character, though I play both equally since I only have two saves I'm playing through ME1, 2 and later 3.

I prefer the femshep voice. She has a lot more character than the male voice and enhances the overall game experience imo

I think they're both terrible sometimes.

You can blame the director, he who is responsible for Jennifer acting like that. ;)

Obviouslyt it could never be the great and powerful Jennifer Hale's fault.

I have to go with MaleShep. While I liked Hale as Bastila, I just don't think she makes a good space marine, and she's trying far too hard to be a space marine. It doesn't help that her fanatics are incredibly irritating.

This stuff about femshep having all these emotional inflections is just plain bull. Please post one link to a line where her voice ISN'T filled with a dull drone and forced masculinity. I blame the VA director, because Hale doesn't sound like that in other roles.

I hate it when every line is dripping with emotion, as it starts to sound really fake after a while.

This. MaleShep sound real, like he's seen things and has no time for your daddy issues.

Well, I don't feel either goes too emotional at all. I prefer the sound of MaleShep's voice, and the way his lines are delivered. Hale has just as much emotion in her voice as Meer. The worst emotion ever put in a voice was the FemShep convos with Jacob. Both have emotion in their voices for the most part, just its not overdone in either case, more like the perfect balance in MaleShep, and a little less so in FemShep's case.

ME1, Meer did horrible :/ Hale beat him out bad there. Played through ME1, start to finish with both a male and fem shep. Hale's character felt so much more interesting. Meer's felt robotic, unmoved, forced.

ME2, im going to have to say Hale did just as good as she did in 1, idk where these complaints come from. She acted no differently.

Just played ME1 and 2, back-to-back, and for the first time, and played as a femshep.

Restarted as a maleshep, and couldn't make it past the citadel in ME1. Maleshep is just so flat.

Even if I maleshep is better in ME2, I just don't think I can struggle through ME1 to get there.

Fem Shep is just lame.

The game is clearly oriented to a Maleshep, the way people speak, especially Shep, the actions the hero takes etc.

Femshep just doesn't fit. And I find her acting really bad anyway.

Meer isn't the best, obviously, but how in the world can you say he's flat and Hale isn't? If anything, they're both flat, and probably due to the directing.

I always play female characters if given the option anyway, but trying to play as a Male Shepard in ME1 was extra difficult because of Mark Meer's monotone delivery. I can believe that FemShep is a tough and capable woman who either cares deeply about doing the right thing or only cares about busting heads. I didn't get that at all from Male Shepard. Just my opinion, like everyone else in this thread, but Jennifer Hale deserves a lot more praise and recognition for this role.

Another problem I had playing Male Shepard was when playing Sheploo in the first game, his face seemed frozen compared to the faces you could make in the character creator, and I couldn't make a Male Shepard that looked better than the default.

Honestly, none of our opinions really matter. They're going to continue to use Male Shepard for marketing, and Shepard will most likely be male in the movie. FemShep's awesomeness will continue to be something only fans will know of.

The character creator is distasteful as is, but when you compare it to Sheploo the graphics gap is just ridiculous.

I find Hale is able to come off more natural sounding overall, and makes me feel more immersed because of it.

Meer's voice can be... icky. I really wish he'd put some more personality into it, I don't even feel like he's a person.

I like malesheps voice. Femshep just sounds too gruff and forced. Then again I usually play renegade, and maleshep does a superior job when playing that way.

Male Shep's voice is much more believable for me. His delivery is often very no nonsense & matter-of-fact, but that's what makes it so brilliant. Altough the writers also deserve a lot of credit, Male Shep often reminds me of Staff NCOs and a few Mustangs (Officers who came from the enlisted ranks) I knew when I served in the US Marines.

Fem Shep had good voice acting as well, but not quite as good as Meer's delivery IMO.

FemShep all the way!

Though you gotta give credit to Meer. He's improved in ME2 and some of his Renegade lines sound funnier.
