I was just told (On a different forum) that if you spare Loghain, your Warden himself/herself becomes a traitor and deserves execution.:ph34r::ph34r::pinched::pinched::pinched::pinched::pinched:

And the old (Already proven false by canon) arguments:

Trap at the Tower of Ishal
Plotted to have the Couslands killed
Would have killed Anora
And, of course, regicide

Well, there are people in the world who still believe the earth is flat or hollow, so go figure.;)

I know.

I mean, I understand that there are reasons not to spare him. Some of my Wardens haven't spared him. (They late Alistair duel him, or refused Riordan) But to be told such a thing, based on things that are confirmed to be untrue.......GAH!

I ignore Loghain haters on other forums or private groups. Just two days ago, a fellow member in a group I'm a part of was about to start a Loghain rant after I said that I sympathized with him and I just told her, "let's just agree to disagree". No need to turn that place into ANOTHER Loghain debate. ;)

None of them are proven false by Canon.  Gaider said they were false on the forum, which isn't the same thing.

Well, Loghain wouldn't have killed Anora.  Going by precedent, Howe would have killed her, then Loghain would have named him Queen in Anora's place

The author's confirmation that they are wrong is "Word Of God" = Canon. The Loghain haters may grumble, but it's still true. As for your Loghain/Howe/Anora theory, I find it too repulsive to dignify it with any kind of answer.

Canon is what is in the game.  All David Gaider needs to do is put in a "Loghain is a poor misunderstood lamb" Codex entry, and it's Canon, but he hasn't, so it isn't.

If Loghain took any action over Howe killing Anora, he'd be a terrible hypocrite.  I thought he was trying to save Ferelden?  Or is it only other peoples families that are allowed to get killed or enslaved for the greater good?

Ahh. I just went back to Awakening today, and my save was right before the Loghain cameo. Remembering how much I enjoyed Loghain, I thought I'd drop in and tell the Loghain thread so.

Then I saw this.

Besides, giving Loggy a pair of jigglies would be no worse than what I've done to him in playthroughs where I spared him.

I had a mage cowl, Libertarian style, crafted on the winter forge, just for him, so he could run around Ferlden looking like a giant silver and purple Orlesian condom. As penance.

I want moobs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, Skadi.

First of all, none of the things he confirmed (Putting those things IN the game or in a codex would have ruined the suspense and ensuing debates) imply that he is a "poor, misunderstood lamb," No need for extremes. The author confirming/denying theories means more to me than the (flawed) codex entries in the game.

For the love of GOD, the man never had a chance.... Killing her would be dreadful, yet not killing her would be hypocrisy? Of course he wouldn't kill his only child. Nor sanction Howe doing so.

I'd say it's canon.

Shale: It could have won its battle. It knows this, surely?

Loghain: I am to be subjected to the golem's ruminations, now? Charming.

Shale: It said that it did what it had to do in order to protect its nation, but that is not true, is it?

Loghain: I have no idea what you're talking about, golem.

Shale: It could have slain the woman, Anora. Then it would have been made king long before any challenge could have been made.

Loghain: You are speaking of my daughter, if you are not aware.

Shale: I am aware. It said, however, that it would do anything that it had to. But this was not true.

Loghain: I was unwilling to kill my own daughter. Yes, that is true. You think me weak for it?

Shale: I am uncertain. Had it known then what it knows now, would its decision have been different?

Loghain: (Sigh) No. No, I would not have killed her. Even had I known.

Shale: Then... I am content.

I have seen this type of argument over and over and over again and I've decided that there is only one appropriate response to it:

To paraphrase Commander Adama, when it comes to family the rules don't apply.

OOH! *claps hands* now do the Loghain-Zevran one! I snorted Pepsi out my nose the first time I heard it.

Seriously though, I've never heard that one before. I really need to load up my Loghain saves and run over the Proving bridge with every different character. I've never even taken Loghain to Ostagar - I hear his dialogue with Wynne is priceless.

Oh you definitely need to do that. (The other bonus is that Cailan's armour is usually dragonbone if you do Ostagar after Landsmeet).

Seriously, I wanted Wynne to STFU and leave the poor man alone, but he does give as good as he gets. She...though, I wanted to strangle. But that's nothing new. I want to strangle her most of the time anyway.

I just realised after 6 playthroughs that Cailan's armour was upgradeable :P Does it lose any of its shine if it's Dragonbone? I heard somewhere that silverite was needed for the shiny armour tints or something.

But that's nothing new. I want to strangle her most of the time anyway.

*pat pat* There, there. I know the feeling :innocent: You have taken her to Ostagar with Alistair haven't you? She's...a different woman with him around. Especially that conversation about waking up in his bed after killing the Necromancer...

The one with Zevran is the funniest banter ever, beats anything Alistair ever thought was funny. :P And his dialogue with Wynne in RTO is a rollercoaster of emotions. But NO ONE shuts Wynne up like Loghain.

Awesome!:wizard:

@Persephone

Obviously, I'm guessing these idiots need to get schooled by Gaider himself, who pretty much dispelled all those myths oh....ages ago.  I didn't think there were really any people around who still believed that and who were actually connected to the internet.

Of course, it could be a conspiracy! Loghain is really a Feemason! He works for the illuminati!

All your base are belong to him!:o

Now that you mention it!!!!!!! :o:O:O:O:O:O:O

An in addition to the bland weather and left overs of plot lines never finished throughout the game, Loghain is also to blame for DA2 not being about the Warden. Why? Because he retreated at Ostagar!

Zevran and Wynne have...saucy banter?  I thought the woman hated him. I've only ever heard saucy banter between Oghren and Wynne...and I had to admit, that was pretty funny.

He also caused the housing market crash and the world financial crisis! How?

He stared at the stock markets with his piericing blue eyes, and they fell in terror.....

And because he retreated at Ostagar. And cut a secret deal with the darkspawn. And he is sexier than Cailan. Also another nefarious plot.
