To say that I am annoyed by such people would be putting it mildly. I cannot state the number of people who have claimed in similar manner that Loghain is a pathetic fighter and that Alistair crushes him at the Landsmeet and thus think Loghain is a pathetic fighter......when they are playing on normal.

Some people even use that as a reason to kill Loghain, go figure.

Normal is about as accurate as Nightmare though. Hard is the one where none have any penalties. Ergo, how it was meant to be played.

Edit: Though on consoles Normal is way more easy than Nightmare is hard. Due to no FF.

I got really close but on nightmare the archers spam scattershot way to much.
How one little arrow can stun 5 people all over the room in one shot needs to go.

Claiming your PC kicks ass when you do it on Hardcore isn't impressive at all.

SO were are all supposed to be in awe that you play on Nightmare I take it?

Hardcore is still challeging without being cheap which happens on nightmare.
On that mode Cauthrien one hits rouges and mages.

I dont play on the highest difficulty because I still want to have fun while playing. Nightmare is cheap and the constant spam attacks ruin any fun.

That fight comes down to as much luck as it does skill, if even one of your stuns, or AOEs dosent work youre screwed, or if the archers get stuck doing scattershot into infinity your screwed again. To brag about winning this fight just shows how you have some luck since thats what it comes down to.

Oh and when did I claim such? You are the one putting a foot in your mouth since you bragged about killing her in seconds.

There is nothing to brag about in Dragon Age, even on Nightmare. Unless you are soloing everything ( which people have done as every class on Nightmare ).

I didnt brag, I said it was glorious to wipe the floor with her and her party as a bloodmage.

If I'm not playing a melee rogue, I have Zevran fight Loghain. A S&S warrior has no chance, not even on nightmare. The Cauthrien fight is not luck, and it's not that difficult, but then again, DA:O combat is not really about having mad skillz either. All you need is at least one controller in the party, have auto potions set on 50% and have your rogue take out first the mage, then the archers. Make sure your melee fighters have both paralyze or stun runes in their primary hand weapon and are using deathroot poison.

I skip the Paralysis runes most of the time except on Dual Wielders.

Its rare to see it work on a 2h weapon, and less the perferable on a S&S build.

A DPS build however is very useful when you have a Grandmaster Paralyze rune.

Yeh, since I generally only use DW'ers, I forgot that the runes may not work for 2h. But basically I was saying Cauthrien, like everything else in the game, is not difficult once you figure out the encounter.

True Crowd Control for everyone else, and Paralysis/Force Force field for her and there you go.

However if those mages can lob off a good AOE spell than the fight becomes VASTLY harder.
Timing is super critical on that fight.

Try fighting a boss where timing is 10x more critical then at Cauthrien and where you don't have the luxury of tactical pause, now that's a challenge.

Dragon Age certainly has it's challenge at lower levels...but Bioware fails as usual to take into account the scaling of player levels+gear+professions.

If you are refering to WOW, than I cant really compare.

I tried it for a few hours before giving up in boredom. It was not really a game that I enjoyed it was a serious click fest/grind fest.

Clicking is counterproductive. In the time it takes you to click one spell I can smash 3 keyboard buttons. I really dislike it how in Dragon Age you can only bind 10 keys....and let's not speak of Mass Effect 1 and 2. ( though there I would not ever need to pause if not for changing weapons, stupid system )

Here are my WoW keybinds ( A= Alt, S= Shift ). Not to brag, but I don't even pay attention to my spell bars since I am focused on other **** that is going on, hell I do it on reflex almost in the split of a second..

And yes, WoW is a grindfest at the very start but it does change once you get level 20 or so. Though if one ever thinks of WoW as a solo experience, then he/she won't enjoy it.

I dont really have the time to dedicate to guild play anymore, school sucks it all up so I end up playing at odd hours.

To bring this back to Loghain what does he do in his spare time I wonder?

He comes off to me as someone who reads a good bit, or pours over atlases and memorizes things alot.

A leader of a country/army really has no spare time to speak of. What little he has is probably spent clearing his head.

At the time, it can seem to be in both their interests for Anora to try to speak up. Especially if your reasoning is 1) no surrender 2) try to talk your way out of it 3) if all else fails, fight

It's not in Anora's interest to reveal that she is even considering allying with you. If Loghain finds out, then her leverage is gone and she is making herself completely dependant on you (and she is not stupid, she knows about Alistair). The way I see it, Anora wants to keep her options open, if you don't help her, she can always re-side with Loghain. Anora blaming the Warden as kidnapping her would still make Loghain unaware of the fact that she is planing behind his back.

So no, it's definately not in Anora's interest to try and speak up. Maybe the Warden (even though you have been warned by her about this), but not Anora.

By the same token, my Warden has no loyalty to Anora.  What has she ever done for you?  Having your back while you're trying to escape with her seems like the least she could do.

In his dialouge (that I just heard!) he mentions that many generals turn to drink or religion.
But then he says he will tell you after what he turns to.

I wonder what he does to compensate?

With Anora it is never about loyalty, it's a mutually beneficial Alliance if you place her on the throne nothing more.

Well he does use the Maker as part of his battlecry, So I guess religion.

Or maybe he just shakes it off and broods quietly.

Also, here is an old interview with Loghain by Mary Kirby.

Note: This interview was requested by Costin_Razvan, as apparently there is a small group of people who are not satisfied by interviews with sullen qunari or crazy old priests.  Baffling.

Me: Loghain, I need you take some time out of your busy schedule of... I guess brooding?  Looking miserable?  Actually, I guess I have no idea what it is you're doing, but take a break, okay?  I need you to answer some questions for the forums.
Loghain: What? What forums? No, don't be ridiculous. How did you get in here, anyway?
Me: Plot holes.  Look, if you don't do this interview, the Orlesians win.
Loghain: ... Just make this quick.

Q & A with Loghain

Q: What do you think of the hate the players have against you?

A. I assure you, I think of nothing else. I cry myself to sleep over their cruelty every night.

Q. Wow.  Really?

A. No. I've been hated by a lot of people in my time, many of whom I actually knew and whose opinions mattered to me.  Why would I care for the hatred of strangers?

Q: What are your thoughts regarding Ostagar?

A. Oh, Maker, this again.  Only the darkspawn came away from that place victorious.  I have nothing further to say on the subject.

Q: What are your thoughts of Alistair, Duncan and Cailan?

A. All I know of Alistair is his name.  I'm not sure what conculsions you expect me to draw from that.  I barely knew Duncan, but he seemed capable, I suppose.  I have no desire to speak further of Cailan.

Q: What is your favorite map?

A. There's a very fine one of Ferelden hanging on the wall in the war room at Denerim. It was drawn just before the Orlesian invasion, and shows every bannorn and arling, every freehold exactly as it was almost a century ago.

Q: Now that you are a Grey Warden, what do you think of the order?

A. Since "the order" presently consists of just two people besides myself, I can't find any fault with it.

Q: Do you like nugs?

A. Those hairless rodents the dwarves eat? I've never seen one that wasn't salt-cured. They're not bad with pancakes, I suppose.

I would disagree with this but I see the conversation has moved to what Loghain does in his spare time... and I can't even begin to imagine something to suggest.

And she would damn her entire position by doing so.
Of course, your WArden may not be loyal to her, but you still need to get her out of there before you are implicated in her murder / dissapearance. Anora probably knows that you are not being altruistic when you are rescuing her.

I've only seen it a few times but didn't know there was a bouncy ball involved.  LOL  There are some parallels I guess... crabby guy with a softer side, brilliant strategist etc.  Loghain would be a killer chess player, I bet.  Icy glare for +5 intimidation points.

If he did that to the ladies who hang out here they would jump across the board and glomp him.
I dont want to imagine what Skadi would do.
