I love TST. *hugs TST tight* It feels incomplete in several parts, but it's still so good. Obviously I like it, since I'm plundering it.

And on that note some fanart...

TST was nice when I pretended that Loghain was the sole main character. It was tolerable otherwise.

Oh and great chapter Addai!

Another wonderful chapter. You should definitely consider writing a novel, if you haven't already. Obviously, not until you've finished this, though.

I really need to read Addai's story, I haven't done it yet. Judging from the comments, it's excellent.

And yay, Loghain made it past the Landsmeet in my current playthrough! I originally thought I was going to kill him with my Dalish PC due to the slavery issue, but as someone in the Alistair thread mentioned (oh, the irony) a viable RP choice was to blame Howe for manipulating Loghain into doing it. I RP'd that this was brought up in a conversation with Anora. My PC was still angry at him mind you, but she's also a Dalish who has tried hard to bring the elves and humans together (she's romancing Leli despite her racist comment).

But Loghain had to somehow make it up to the elves in the Alienage, hence I left the Ser Otto quest for after the Landsmeet, so that Loghain would in someway help them.

Here's a brief rundown of my latest Landsmeet.

Wrong way Loghain...

As a side note, Loghain didn't nail a single blow on my PC during the duel. Archers rock at duels. With the Master Archer talent, Defensive Fire adds a massive +30 bonus to defense. My PC was untouchable.

Alistair has his say...

You're now a Grey Warden Loghain, you may kiss the floor.

Another way to rp a Dalish or especially a City elf sparing Loghain is that you can pretend to know about Loghain and the Night Elves and come to the conclusion that Loghain was not racist and he was not specifically targeting elves because they are elves. This requires a rational and slightly impartial pov.

And the assumption you are killing him for his racsism and not that he did it.

We are talking about elves specifically who have reason to take this personally. Hence me suggesting that it is possible to not take it personally. I am not suggesting that you have to see him as racist to execute him.

Now you have me curious (and have exposed my ignorance), who are the Night Elves? Something from the books?

I also RP'd that she remembered back when at Ostagar, Loghain had complemented her about being a Dalish and how no one was better with a bow than them, to dismiss the racist issue.

And yes, for a City Elf to spare Loghain they have to be very rational and impartial. The way I'm going to play my CE, that's definitely not gonna be the case (she'll be a berserker for a reason). But my Dalish was a somewhat rational person. She was a bit hotheaded at times too, but she was able to see the bigger picture in this case.

It also fit her story so well to have Alistair storm out. Their relationship had been rocky right from the start in Ostagar (he was at -1 approval at the end). When Alistair said his "have fun ending the Blight" line, I RP'd that she said "What a jerk!" as he was walking away. Still didn't have the heart to have him executed though...

The Night Elves are from TST. It's a band of elves in the rebellion that Loghain took up as his own unit and trained. Under his command, they became famous / infamous for their guerilla warfare against the Orlesians, earning them the nickname "Night Elves" because they fight primarily at night.

Which shows you that Loghain is not only brilliant in conventional tactics, but also in guerrilla warfare. It's very rare to see someone mastering the two.

*blush*  Thank you, thank you.  It's much easier, of course, when you have rich characters and a rich world already set out for you.  But since I don't get paid (and David Gaider doesn't mind fanfiction in principle) I don't feel too guilty about the robbery.  At least I'm glad people think I'm doing the characters some justice.

I think this could work, though more for a city elf than a Dalish.  As a Dalish PC I would probably look on the Night Elves as just a different form of slavery, elves fighting a shem war because they had no other options.  Better than being privy diggers, but not necessarily speaking to Loghain's view on elves.  You could easily conclude they were just a tool, too, like the alienage elves in this case.

Or you just see it as a more fitting punishment than a quick death.

I can't see a Dalish Elf caring that much about the City Elves to be honest. It's clear they dislike them.

I'd say extremely detached, possibly even antisocial. With a City elf, you aren't just freeing acquaintances, you're freeing your father. Soris' wife Valora vanishes off to Minrathous. Loghain almost certainly had no idea that the slaves have any connection to you. But I think it would be extraordinarily difficult to be forgiving under those circumstances.

Self-promotion: I wrote a fanfic about that very issue.

Generally yes, but you can always RP that you feel bad for them and would want to help them in anyway possible.

This.

While I managed to come up with a way to spare Loghain with my Dalish, there's no way I'll ever spare him with my CE. The image of your father in a cage is too much to bear and overrides any rational thoughts my CE might have (which aren't many to begin with).

Not necessarily anti social. A City elf can understand that it's nothing personal, only business.
Impartial and rational yes. Detached, yes. Doesn't have to be anti-social.
