Sleeping with Morrigan does seem like a fate worse than death, as far as he's concerned.
Even then losing your soul? I am somewhat impressed you can hate Morrigan that much.

I don't think it's about hating Morrigan. I think he thinks it's far more dignified to die fighting an archdemon than to have everyone around him talking about his sex life.

Logically, yes, it'd be better for him to be around to rebuild the order but, as we know from Awakening, he doesn't get to do that in Fereldan anyway. (That's metagaming, of course - but it doesn't change my decision to let him do the sacrifice - just reinforces it).
There's also the fact that, as a man already in his fifties, the taint is going to eat him up pretty quickly. He might make 60 if he's lucky. I'd rather let him go out with a bang. As someone who likes the character, I cannot deny him the redemption he seeks.

Alistair doesn't want to do it either, whether you're romancing him or not. And I haven't played through Awakenings with a spared Loghain, but in my post-Blight Ferelden he sticks around. It's just plain cruel for BioWare to send him to Orlais.CalJones wrote...
I don't hate Morrigan at all - I enjoy her snarkiness. But Loggy doesn't want to play hide the sausage with her and I respect his wishes. Dignity comes into it, certainly - I think it's more that than his distaste for Morrigan (who is a beautiful woman with a nice rack, after all).

I agree about the taint, but I think he could still do more for the Ferelden order in 5 years or so than he could do dead. Like Anora said "you gain a general." A dead general does me no good.
Edited to add that I know I'm being entirely selfish by asking him to do it.

I've done the ritual on a couple of my male characters - the Awakening cameo is awesome if you play a Cousland who married Anora. I don't feel right asking another to do the ritual for me, though.
My females would be like, "I would do it myself if I could!"

You mean do the ritual with Morrigan, or volunteer to take Morrigan's place?phaonica wrote...

Haha! The Warden carrying Loghain's Old God Baby. Can't imagine what the Order would make of that.phaonica wrote...

Whichever. The second one sounds like more fun, though.

If a bit of blood magic could get Morrigan pregnant and keep your Warden alive, then I think there might be a few tricks to getting a Warden pregnant by another Warden. I bet Flemeth knew more than just that.CalJones wrote...
Well, truth be told, two wardens cannot a baby make...but practising would certainly be fun.

Or what a potential ex-boyfriend Alistair would make of it.
Yessss, much more fun. Oh the delicious drama.

Eh, I don't think Loghain minds that much. He doesn't hate her like Alsitair does. What concerns him however, in typical Loghain fashion, is if the DR is going to affect Ferelden in a bad way. If Morriogan was as manipulative as some people wrongly (imo) make her out to be, she would have said something like "I am planing to use the baby to destroy Orlais".
Is it bad that I was thinking that might be a convincing argument for Loghain to do the DR? "Look, she said she'd leave Ferelden, we wouldn't be putting any *Fereldens* in danger..."

Problem with Morrigan convincing Loghain is how she straight up promises Loghain she'll never return to Ferelden. If the new DLC has Morrigan returning to Ferelden....oops!
Eh, he's in Orlais. He'll never know.

I'm working under the assumption that she needs to come back to Ferelden and couldn't have anticipated why until [insert circumstance here] arose.Brockololly wrote...

Yeah, my first assumption is that she never meant to come back, but perhaps things didn't go according to plan... Although a DLC seems like an awful short amount of time to clear up something that went wrong.
