What I also dislike about RtO is the very very weak reason given for going there while the Blight is mostly concentrated south, aka just there. I had to rub my temple a lot to come up with a semi-decent reason and it still sounds stupid. I came up with the idea that we needed to scout...which is what Riordan said he would do after the Landsmeet but whatever.

I use it as an excuse to also kill Flemeth, we are in the neighborhood after all.

Oh that's a good one, I should have thought of that; although I have to say I've not had loads of success with bringing Loghain to dragon fights. They seem compelled to crunch him up almost immediately. (They behave the same way towards Dog, which is why I tend to leave him behind for those encounters as well.) This was particularly inconvenient for the Flemeth fight because my Mage does not know Revival --only Morrigan does (yes, KoP, I had to make Morrigan a Spirit Healer for her second specialization. I felt weird doing it but one of us had to as I lost Wynne in the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest). So once Flemeth had crunched up Loghain and spit him out, there was no bringing him back. This makes me really hope that I can convince him to do the DR, because if we lose Morrigan and the Archdemon thinks Loghain is as tasty as these Dragons have, we're in trouble.

Saw it. The Templars look cooler.

And I guess the pirate lady is Isabela.

Varric is also cool in it.

I really want to play it right now.
Five months away though.:crying:

That's just awesome :) I always liked Leske, so it's nice to have his voice actor back.

Apparently his cross bow has a name, that he yells in combat.

I'm excited about it. It's nice to see some in-game graphics, rather than prerendered cinematics, this time.

I never thought combat in DAO was anything epic, and that didn't make the game any less fun. It was the story, the decision-making dynamic, and the character development that made the game fun for me. The only change that concerns me is the change to a voiced main character. And good luck writing an antagonist more interesting than Loghain. Image IPB

I started caring after I saw the leaked gameplay video lol

I won't base my decision solely on this and yes story is mroe important to me, but I'd like to have an idea of what I am getting into.  And by gameplay, I meant more abilities, specialisations and all that, something that we had an idea about with Origin before release.

Hmm....interesting.

Dragon Age 2 coming out in March. The Witcher 2 coming out in march ( supposedly ).

I am placing my money on the Witcher 2 being the better the game.

The gameplay still looks clunky.

That being said the VO sounded better, and I might give it a try.

I'll play both. I only played the Witcher recently. It starts slowly but I thoroughly enjoyed it from Chapter 2 on. They did amazing things with the Aurora engine.

As for DA2, yeah, the cinematic trailer is nice, but as with the trailer for DA:O, it probably bears little resemblance to the actual game. I'm just hoping the new combat isn't too fast paced for my elderly reflexes.

Seems to me the situation in Dragon Age II is FUBAR. Mages wanting to pull away from the Chantry entirely, Fereldan getting plunged into civil war from rumors at PAX, Qunari invading the Free Marches and the Chantry deciding to interfere directly.

Thedas is just about to be plunged into all out war.

Loghain if he is in Orlais would probably tell the wardens to shove it and be getting home very quickly then.

Because really if you think about its very easy to write the start of a civil war for Ferelden:

Alistair could be revealed to be the son of Fiona

Anora not having children or marrying could incite the Bannorn.

If they are ruling jointly they could come to fight each other.

Honestly Ferelden takes one little push and well things get FUBAR.

And remember the comments about Redcliffe in WH? That's probably a part of it although who knows if it's the spark or not. You know, it really makes it seem like all the effort put into fixing Ferelden in the first game and trying to give them a good leader is really wasted if they're just going to start killing each other again five minutes after the Blight ends.

Especially if Arl Eamon starts it.
Making me hate The Urn quest even more.

I would not like having Ferelden plunge into civil war again. I do not expect us to fix all the problems of the country. But for it to collapse a few years after everything we've done? Too much. Especially if it's Cousland / Anora and that Cousland stayed (the Awakening epilogue makes everyone disappear though, because it's stupid). A golden age is what should be happening!

And I don't like the rumors of mage rebellion and them actually getting away with it. Unless something extra-ordinary happens, which is either linked to Flemeth or Morrigan or this "change" that Morrigan talked about.

Warden: No matter how many times you save Ferelden, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. Sometimes I just want it to stay saved! You know, for a little bit? I feel like the maid; I just cleaned up this mess! Can we keep it clean for... for ten minutes!

Hmm...I am starting to like the idea of Dragon Age 2, most notably because it fits my plans for my FF perfectly. Well except for those pesky nobles in Fereldan, but I think I will pull a Stalin on them or maybe a Night of Long Knives.

And say what you will about ruling with an iron fist, Stalin was able to pull it, quite damned well. Obviously Stalin was a genius, but my DN is also very capable. ( certainly not the same level as the one who created a superpower from scratch, but close ).

Effort? I don't think that what the Warden does in the game is something that will ensure stability in Fereldan once the Blight is over. With Anora being hated for her common blood, and not wanting to have an heir while Alistair is a half elf fool who let's the country get run by Eamon ( The Warden vanishes, even if she is his wife that's a period ) then what did you really except?

Maric in the Calling recalls that it was a very hard time after the Rebellion to ensure peace....things just got much worse.

Stalin also instituted a regime that murder and tortured millions of people. That we know of, since every so often they find graves of people who were killed.

I dont think Stalin is a model that is very sound to follow.

Eh, 1920-30s Russia is radically different from Ferelden, so I am not sure the same policies would work. Stalin pulled it off because he was a bureaucratic genius. I am not sure your DN can institute such a centralized bureaucracy, which had modern technology at its side, as to eliminate the need for all nobles.

Plus you hit the same bump Loghain would have.

You use force on the Bannorn and they ALL fight you. Leading to another Civil war.
