It's a cool cloak, but he does look somewhat uncomfortable in that picture. "Hey guys. . .if I get any shinier people are going to start thinking I'm a vampire in this thing. . ."

Nope, it is just to make the work easier. When it is done I put the bones the cloak are attached to in a better position, I intent to change some of his cutscenes animations to make the cloak move on those... would be nice to change all the humanoid animations in game to make the cloak work on PC/NPCs, but not sure it is worth the effort.

So eum, wasn't there a Loghain cloak mod project? How is that going?

The toolset didn't want to play nice with the model, I had to redo it a few times but now it is working, except the textures. A pic before the last model's crash.:P

I think it looks neato. Even if it were to turn out a little stiff, I think it's a cool addition.

I don't know anything at all about modeling, but you'd have to change the cutscenes to make the cloak move in them? Is the cloak a new piece of armor/clothing that wouldn't show up in the cutscenes, or it it a modification of an existing armor?

I have changed one of the existing armour's models, I'll probably make it a new item when it is done to avoid overriding all the massive armours with it.

The changes I have made include adding a new set of bones to the armour model (and the head's mmh file that glues it all together) and the game is able to see them, which means if I get any game's animation (like the pause, standing, kissing, sitting, etc), add the movement of the cloak in 3dMax/Gmax and put it back in the game I can use it as a new animation into a cutscene. Sure I'll need to open the cutscene and make a few adjustments like giving him the new armour and load the changed animation with the cloak movement into a track, etc. But it works since I got his hair moving in a few animations and added them into a kissing cutscene.;)

Going too technical here...if you want see how it works PM me we can discuss it further.

Okay, I think I understand. I was curious how it might affect both existing and custom cutscenes, like whether a cutscene override file might be necessary. I can see how it would be, if the movement can only be added as an animation file onto a track.

I can make a custom animation with a unique name to be used in a track of a cutscene, or I can override all the game's animations including the ones in the existing cutscenes and custom ones. Edit: I think it will need a cutscene override, last time it only worked after I loaded the animation with the new bones in the same track as the original and exported the cutscene, but I should make more tests on this.

If the only difference between my animation and the original animation are the movement of the new set of bones it will not affect the models that doesn't have those bones, nor the animations or cutscenes using those models.

Does he get a utility belt with that?  Image IPB

Oh, and can we get some Cauthrien dressed as Robin?  Image IPB

Or maybe dressed as Batgirl . . . .I always did wonder how she'd look without that armor on . . . . . Image IPB

@ alschemid

Is it possible to make a "half cloak" or "side cloak", I don't know how to call it. Something like this:

Something in between in terms of size.

I have an armor in mind for DA:O (based on the heavy armor / armor of diligence model) and it would be awesome if a "side cloak" could be made.

Oh.. this last outfit looks great.
Yes, it is possible, the model is easy to do, the animations to go with it will take some time though. How would the cloak be attached  to the heavy armour? Under the armour's shoulder more like the second picture or over the other no armoured shoulder more like the first one? Or we could just try both.

Ok assuming we use this as a model (or any other heavy armor)

I think it would look good on the left, over the armor (or the chainmail thing).
What do you think?

Except for the huge gauntlet, which won't play nice with the cloak, I think it will look nice, almost like the first picture, actually.
Let me see if I can get something done this weekend.

Oh right the gauntlet.

And just to understand (and bear with me, please, I have no idea about all of this lol). Is the cloak a seperate item that can be put on any armor or heavy armor in this case? Or is it attached to a specific armor? Cause the cloak I have in mind is for a specific armor that I want to make (or try to make and perhaps fail at).

So, if you make the cloak now, can I use it on an armor I might make in the future? And can I edit its colors and add the symbols that I want?

Thanks in advance!

It must be attached to one armour model, whatever model you want, but let me know which one before I start. All the heavy armours use the same model (the last picture you posted), the only difference are the textures (which gives the model its symbols/colours) once you have the model with the cloak working you can change the textures as you wish.

I think I'd like the one Fergus is wearing in the Wedding mod (which I think is based on the ceremonial armor?).

But just to be sure, can I add a symbol to the cloak later?
And does the cloak need to be attached to the whole set or just the chest piece?

Oh and you don't need to do it soon, take your time, I still have to upgrade my PC ^_^
But thank you so much, I really appreciate it.

EDIT: and non-cloak related question to everyone. How much can we change the crest on that armor for instance?
Can I make the flame or flower thing in the crest gold, but leave what's surrounding it in silver? Like how much can we actually change the colours of the crest and the upper part of the armor or neck belt, I don't know what to call it.

I know. . .I tried to get rid of the shiny for poor sleeping Loghain's sake but I don't have the skillz. . .or the toolz. . .He looks like Zevran played some sort of prank on him while he was nodded off, by coating his nether regions in shiny Antivan "painted elf" stuff. ^_^

I've made a picture it is easier to understand, I'll just change the 3d model all the details are made using the textures and tints. As you can see you can add all the details you want later.

Ok great. And can you make the cloak underneath the armor on the left?

Thank you so much for everything!
