Personally I feel that shows what kind of ignorant people they were. Seriously letting kids play Doom and Duke Nukem...yeah OK...
I played many many games, from FPS-es ( the mentioned two with others involved ) to the old windows games ( Bow and Arrow ), to puzzle games etc. but I fell in love with the RTS and RTT genres. The first ever strategy game I played was Dune II and for me it felt like playing a good game of chess ( and I still hold Dune II as one of the best RTS game ever made ), then came Warcraft 1.
I have done many things in my life ( climbed mountains, been with the military, trained in professional swimming and basketball, etc. ) but none have ever gotten my blood pumping as a good game, and many people look at me like some freak..."sigh".

I wouldn't worry too much off-topic btw. This forum basically only exists because of it nowadays.

Baffles the mind really.
But I admit that I've written myself into becoming a fangirl. *cringes a little* Don't tease me about it. I'm still in denial. LOL
Good to have you with us.

I'm glad you're still following my tale. Means a lot. I was worried about the....smut in a certain chapter. Was it very OOC? 'cause I fiddled with it until my head was buzzing. It's not going to happen again any time soon though (Except...hmmmmmmmmm

But I mean it could happen, succumbing to one's weakness unintentionally. But it's good you chose to end it short lol, I think it's too early for Loghain to be physically and emotionally engaged.
I essentially took it to mean that Rhiannon, much to her surprise, felt attracted to Loghain easier and quicker than to Alistair, because they are more compatible (personality wise at least). As for Loghain, well he trusts and respects the Warden just for beating him, so I could see him being attracted to her as well.
Soo, all in all, it didn't ruin the story. Might have been a bit too abrupt and premature, but you cut it short so it's good. And you didn't go on and on about smut, mostly kept it brief and simple which I personally like (and I am partial to leg hooks, so...yea lol).
And yea the scene with Selena was quite touching. I really wish the game had things like this. To show us the horrors of war and specifically the Blight.

Abrupt, yep. That had me worried.
What Rhiannon and Loghain have in common (In my story, anyway, hee) is an aversion to physical closeness. It took Rhiannon three main quests till she finally let Alistair kiss her, not to speak of other things. The last time she let a man get that close, he was murdered in her bedchamber. (Major trauma, as she enjoyed closeness with her family) Hence her pushing away Leliana during the funeral. Yet with Loghain, she doesn't feel that aversion. Which confuses and angers her, because that is her final line of defense. Also, the small hint about having been in much worse hands before. She never viewed Alistair as a protector or even as completely reliable. Make sense?
I agree about the game glossing over the actual horrors of war. Why not put a cutscene showing Lothering as it is destroyed? People you interacted with dying? IMO that would have been very powerful.

So if I understand correctly, Rhiannon is actually a fragile and vulnerable person at heart, who seeks a protector or at least someone she can rely on fully?
I can see why she would think Loghain fits better in this role (...does age have anything to do with it?

Not exactly. She has learned that trusting anyone can lead to disaster in very bad ways. That reference was about him questioning her authority and making sense (Unlike Alistair, ahem. Or Wynne....). Relying on someone not based on friendship or love but pragmatism and experience. The attraction she did not count on. And neither did he.

Ahh, go ahead.I need a distraction anyway. I'm finding it difficult to write Chapter 2 of my fic because my brain keeps thinking of stuff to write in later chapters. I'm getting them all down, so work is being accomplished, but before those can be posted I have to get Loghain conscripted first.
Not smut. Angst. Lots and lots of angst. Remember, this is still in its editing stage.
Excerpt from Chapter Nine of "The Edge Of The Grey Enigma":
Location & Date: Castle Redcliffe, pre-Riordan
Rhiannon was all poison and sharp edges now, her demeanor so utterly changed, it left him both baffled and wounded. His every attempt to curb his anger, show affection rather than disappointment, understanding rather than well deserved bitterness, the tenderness that had once melted her heart, it seemed to steel her resolve to cut him out of her life for good. Had she deceived him all along? Was she still deceiving him? For once in his life he decided to ask her without preambles or jokes easing the way in.
"Have you ever loved me, Rhia? Have you?" Much depended on her answer, they both knew. Making her decision to remain silent even more candid. This time, he would not back down. He would have his answer and not dance around the issue like the child she had accused him of being. "Answer me. Have you? Or, more to the point, do you still....?"
This she could answer truthfully, shockingly easily, even. Her eyes, blank yet swirling with dark fires he dared not conjure further, locked his gaze. This time he did not falter, did not stumble over his own determination.
"No. I no longer love you." Six words that were to change his destiny.

You mean no more smut? Never ever? But... but... oh.
Anyway, as much as I would love to see some Loghain romance and... well...everything else... in game I don't think he would get himself engaged in a relationship with female warden while Ferelden is in such a mess, I could see it happening in awakening though.
Alistair's .... taste? No thanks too much sugar for me, I prefer bitter.

Oh, there'll be smut. It just depends on your definition of the word. And there will be REAL smut too, only much later.
Awakening....heh....you know....
As for Alistair vs. Loghain..... It's like Mr. Bingley (All sweet, affable fun) vs. Mr. Darcy (Brooding, intense and seemingly arrogant).......Mr. Darcy all the way!

Addai, did you like the excerpt? ( I chose a Rhiannon/Alistair moment on purpose, so your Canon Loghain will not be influenced.

Because they happened at pretty much the same time, I equate the evolution of my "taste" in men with the evolution of my taste in chocolate and James Bond. I shall attempt to explain. When I was growing up, James Bond was either Roger Moore or Sean Connery (George Lazenby, of course, does not count). As a small child, I saw these films on reruns on TV and thought what a charming, witty, debonair sort of gentleman Roger Moore's Bond was, while Sean Connery was dark and growly and sometimes mean and a little scary.I also, at the time, prefered milk chocolate to dark chocolate, because the milk was so nice and sweet and the dark was a bit too intense and could be somewhat bitter. Over time, however, my tastes matured, and I grew sick of the blandness of milk chocolate, craving the intensity of the dark; at the same time, Roger Moore became in my eyes a somewhat silly, dirty old man, while Sean Connery is. . .

Sean Freakin' Connery.
Alistair vs. Loghain kind of works the same way for me.
