Last week my history prof was late and I found that my Ancient Mediterranean class has lots of gamers.
Including some who play dragon age.

We talked about it while waiting and out of the six or so who were gamers only one liked Loghain, and we talked for a good half hour about the ending choices once. I did convince someone to see the Loghain Redeemer ending though!

However one of them threw the wall of insults at me:
OMG YOU MONSTER!
YOU HATE ALISTAIR!
LOGHAIN IS BAD!
HOW COULD YOU FORGIVE OSTAGAR!

Real life Loghain hate is funny.

I'd have yelled back "How dare you judge me!"

:wub::wub::wub: Maric's sword, right?

Yep. I think Maric would want him to use it, since Alistair is sitting out the battle and it's to defeat the Blight.

Master Chief being it does not make me happy though. Same goes for that kid from Psychonauts.

I am surprised they would include Captain Price from Call of Duty.

Oh yes, because the only kinds of games that attract mature and intellectual players are RPGs ( and maybe RTS's ).  Is that what you are saying or that those specific cases are not worthy to be there? If it's the latter then I will simply state that the guys on gameinformers have a different opinion then you ( and Giggles ) and just leave it there. If it's the former then well...( not to you, but in general though I get the feeling you also think the same way ).

There are a lot of a immature players for each individual genre: RTS, FPS, RPG you name it. ( Check these forums a few months ago when they were active and you will see what I am saying ). There are people who like FPS's and hate RPGs, are they idiots or immature just because of that? Because if you think they are then I would say it's a load of BS.

So yes, that's me ranting. But I am very frustrated with some people who think FPS players ( for instance ) are somehow idiots by default.

Back to Loghain. I think will just quote Patton here. ""If a man does his best, what else is there?"
- General George S. Patton"
Loghain most certainly did what was best in his mind for his country, even though he could have done it better.

I ended up giving him Maric's sword too. I love the way he refers to it as "his Daddy's sword" (When talking about Cailan's idiocy).:lol: And I would have liked a cutscene. This is Maric's sword, after all, surely Loghain would have a reaction there!

Great find! Can you post the link please?

It may not be online yet. I just got my magazine physically in the mail and re-typed the blurb. Image IPB

Well, I found this link, but it doesn't look like all the content is up yet.

gameinformer.com/p/decade.aspx

Edit: I don't want to try and re-type all the other 29 blurbs, but later tonight when I get off work I'll come post the rest of the list so everyone can see who ranked where (in Game Informer's opinion). Hopefully, the article will fully go online soon... don't know if there is a "waiting period" between when subscribers get their issue and when content for the new issue goes online. I'd think there would be, otherwise why would we pay a subscription fee if the content was free online immediately?

It sounds like an interesting article. I didn't find the article itself, but there's an article about the article here:
December Cover Revealed - News - GameInformer.com

I might have to go out and buy this issue. That looks like Loghain next to Kratos. Awesome.
Image IPB

Yup, that's Loghain. They made three collective cover arts... and out of the three possible (each has 10 different characters from the Top 30 list), the one I got in the mail was the one that has Loghain. Image IPB Granted, he's on the back cover, but still. What are the odds? Image IPB

You guys can also go into GameStop. They have a tie-in with Game Informer and you can generally gnab a free copy of the latest issue there.

Jim Raynor is on that list? If so could you copy paste the small part about him? ( Would be curios about the TIM one as well ).

Only Tim I see on the list is from Braid... that the same one you're thinking of? Also, do not see Jim Raynor on there.

Here's the list. If there's any blurbs you or anyone else wants to see, let me know. Since it's a physical magazine, I have to actually re-type the blurbs (no copy-paste for me). Can re-type blurbs later tonight. Got to run off to work shortly.

TIM = The Illusive Man. That one would be nice to see for me.

And well, you will hate me but if you could put up also: Master Chief, Captain Price, Shepard, Kratos and HK-47.

When I do playthroughs, and Loghain gets spared, he always gets Maric's sword, it seems more fitting since Maric was his best friend. If I don't spare him and keep Alistair, it gets flogged off, since Maric really is nothing to Alistair other than a sperm donor to whoever Alistair's mom was, and thus, Alistair gets Duncan's sword instead.

I also equip Loghain with Maric's shield, pimped out and upgraded in the Winter Forge. So his final kit is River Dane and Maric gear, most fitting for Loggy, I think.

Cailan's gaudy, tacky shiny armor gets flogged without thought, unless I'm in the mood to punish someone by making them wear the rather tacky gear.

Same here. Aside from looking gaudy, Cailan's armor doesn't even have good enough stats for me to want to keep it around. Image IPB

So not surprised to see him up there among the top ten. Interesting that Morrigan isn't on there. Seems that Loghain is more popular than most think. Image IPBImage IPBImage IPB

I am surprised they didn't put Sarah Kerrigan in there, I thought she was one of the most iconic video game villains.

Which is a shame, StarCraft has very interesting characters.
Well the first one. The second one didn't come up with an interesting character yet.

I didnt really like Raynor that much really, he comes off as really broken, and cheesy at so many points.

I did like Matt Horner a bit more, even though he was a bit stuffy.

Most of them come off as cheesy. I think the writing in StarCraft I was much better, though the presentation of the 2nd is better.

I beg to differ, Valerian seems interesting as do Tosh and Nova.

I dunno, I rather compare the writing of SC2 to the one of a single campaign in the original SC, in which case ( in my opinion ) SC 2> SC 1 Terran Campaign.

We didn't see much of Valerian yet. He could be interesting (and I hope he is), but I didn't see much of him to say that.
Nova was created way before Starcraft II, and we don't see much of her either.
Gabriel is interesting because he is a specter, and yea he is one of the more interesting people, but I think Starcraft I provided better characters. For now.

In terms of fun and gameplay, the Starcraft II campaign beats the first easily. And since it was much larger, they can devote more writing to that campaign.
But I pesonally thought that the Sons of Korhal rebellion, ending up with installing a regime that isn't that different from the Confederacy, the apparent death of Kerrigan, the amount of death and destruction that made the Starcraft universe gritty and dark, was much more interesting. And in terms of writing, nothing beats Arcturus Mengsk's speech.

Of course that's my opinion.

Alistair always gets Maric's sword otherwise in my games.  Even if Maric didn't mean anything to him personally (which I don't believe, that is his hurt talking), he carries his mantle if he's king.  I just like the idea of the Theirin coming home from exile.  I also like how Cailan's armor looks on him but that is pure vanity.  Oh, and Loghain looks too good with the wyvern shield, he has to keep that!

I'm seriously in love with that GI cover art.  That's going to affect my mental image of Loghain.  It reminds me of this fanart I linked to several pages back, which while it isn't of Loghain, could easily pass for a young version.  I hadn't noticed it until Persephone pointed out, but you really don't see the "ice blue" eyes in the game Loghain.

Knight: I admit, it's hard for me to judge a game based on storyline alone, since I judge em based ON all the elements combined ( which is why ME2> Dragon Age for me, since DA:O is buggy as hell and laggy and **** in terms of combat and why SC2 beats the living hell out of SC 1 in terms of singleplayer ).

A game can have an awesome story like say, War and Peace does for all I care. If it has **** gameplay and hell load of bugs I will consider it a bad game.
