She also just joined the Loghain Sympathizers Group, according to my "latest friend news" page. Welcome to the Dark Side, Addai! Image IPB

Oh good grief, I'm being stalked.  LOL

Yes, it's an... experiment.  As a rule I don't like the flashing sigs anyway, but I realized I needed to change the description on my fanfiction link, then it all looked rather plain, so... and of all my fangirl crushes, this is the only one of which my husband also approves.  Thus far I've resisted making him post with "Alistair is hawt" flashing beneath his posts.

Blah blah...

You can coinfuse the hell out of everyone by adding an "I wuv Alistair" flashing banner to go with the Loggy one. Since, by some unspoken law in the minds of many on the forums, you aren't allowed to like them both! :wizard::wizard::wizard:

(husband)

There would be no contradiction that's just embracing the Yin/Yang "harmony of opposites"

Not to mention there is Thoreau's "...a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."

Your wife has trained you well, I see! :D:P

But I agree. Opposition creates tension. Friction. Conflict. Which I find extremely intriguing and sexy.

Which kinda makes me disappinted in some ways, that you can't have both in party, as the conflict and animosity generated would be pretty neat to watch. Especially if it involved nude mud-wrestling.:wub::wub::wub::wub:

So something's just occured to me: If Orlais was occupying Ferelden for eighty years and they're so fond of GWs then why didn't they repeal the ban? Why did Maric have to go along and get himself kidnapped? *is totally vaguely related to Loghain*

Hmmm, maybe because they learned what the Wardens did there in the past and would rather not have them in Ferelden, for they can pose a potential threat.
Or maybe they didn't want to pay additional stipends.

Or maybe they didn't want to appear as if they are completely reversing Ferelden laws, so kept a few as a sign of legitimacy. Although they lack subtetly and they end up displaying their autocracy rather proudly.

Maybe because they considered Ferelden a colony/territory and didn't really want to invest greatly in it's defense. Maybe they didn't want them recruiting any Fereldens, thus letting the average Ferelden become elevate to an extra-legal status, setting a bad precedent. They did seem to be primarily occupied with looting the country and crushing it's citizens, both noble and common, into nothing.

My third hypothesis is wrong:
"And for 70 years no Landsmeets were held, for the Imperial throne had declared our ancient laws a form of treason."

Eh, the Orlesians really don't know how to occupy and annex properly.

I think there was more to it than that. They were the ones who turned Amaranthine frm a village to a seaport (for obvious reasons: control over the Waking sea).

But all in all, I think the occupation could have proceeded much better if the Orlesians were smarter.

It could have, and had the orlesians worked things smarter, they might not even had to worry about a rebellion. I can think of numerous ways the orlesians could have kept ferelden in check, like choosing one of the nobility and placing them on the throne as a puppet instead of Meghren.

The Orlesian empire during the occupation is a prime example of how monarchies of old were prone to self defeating practices and corruption. The Orlesian emporer at the time was referenced as being mentally unstable/deficient, as was Meghren, most likely the products of twisted, decadent upbringing and generations of inbreeding. There are real world examples of this.

What surprises me is that the Orlesians had not assasinated him for incompetance and plotted to put someone more subtle like Celene during the occupation years. I doubt the Orlesians would acre what was being done to Ferelden per se, but the constant failure of the orlesian nobility to keep Ferelden in check, as well as the expense of having to keep it in check, certainly must have had generated dissatisfaction.

Celene eventually stabbed her way to the throne, but only after the occupation failed. I'm surprised someone hadn't thought of it much sooner.

Woohoo! I finally saw Loghain's cameo in Awakening!

Image IPB

Do I see a Loghain derp?

Nice cameo. The only thing that bothered me was that his initial greeting of "Ah. There you are." It was identical to Eamon's greeting when you return from the Alienage... *shudders*

Did Eamon lean on the wall, with massive plate armor, looking all cool and badass?

No, but it sill sounded way too similar that it got to me.

By the way, Loghain's lean looks so much more badass than Alistair's... *ducks* :D

Obviously he's more badass.

The only "lean on the wall" that is comparable is Bhelen's. In fact, it might be more badass.

I'd agree, he looks more badass. However, Alistair looks sweet, adorable, and vulnerable when he does his lean. Like a helpless baby deer about to get eaten alive....

Er...anyway, yeah. Loghain looks like he freakin OWNS Vigil's Keep when he does the lean. And he's stopping by for a bootycall.

Which, sadly, didn't happen. But he still looked smokin'.

Nah. When Bhelen does it, he looks like a stoned Santa getting ready to fall over.
Loghain totally pwns him in the lean department.

Yea, that scene.

Edit: and also in your commission IIRC :D

It's a standard posture...in fact, it was used in Mass Effect before it appeared in DA.

Aaaanyway...stupid PC got borked and I had to get an IT guy to come sort it out. Which required a reinstall of Windows. Now I have to reinstall Dragon Age and all its patches and mods. Not to mention all my other games. Yay.

Standard posture or not, some NPCs can pull it off and others...not so much.

The physical laws of the universe would make that an impossibility.

Loghain's Epic Lean is like Duncan's Epic Beard.
