Epic fail in Russia and Waterloo aside, I can't really mocj Napoleon. He did sell us a third of our country (which would become the bread basket, to boot) at the bargain basement price of a cool 15 million dollars to finance his wars. A shame we don't even have a statue in DC to honor him. He never did us any harm.

That being said - When you have a very large landmass and have just gone through what amounts to a nearly crushing defeat amounting to a loss of 380,000 men to General Winter and a logistical nightmare, even if you are an absolutely brilliant military strategist, you should probably not make an effort to further ****** off every other European power that isnt under your thumb.....

And don't turn on Spain...blasted fool!

Yep.  The Iraq or Afganistan of the 18th/19th century.  The Spanish are great fighting themselves but when someone else comes in... They all pull together... And then start fighting themselves again once you've given up and left...

Where's that nakiid Loggy?

^^^HAWT, Persephone! What mod is that that you get your sexytime scene with him?

I wonder...other than map collecting and ferreting out Orlesian plots and "reds under the bed", what sorts of pasttimes would Loghain engage in? I mean, he is presented as someone who is a sleep deprived work-a-holic, but he is still only human, and must have some hobbies and interests not related to work.

So what does he do for relaxation (other than get shamelessly violated by love-crazed horny fan girls)? Hunting or fishing? Playing chess? Fine beer tasting? Origami?

He probably tries to hide from the fangirls really.

Sad we just discussed strategy and war, and now we are going straight back to the smut.
Poor Loghain.

Heh. To tell the truth, it's a Mod made for Alistair that I shamelessly used with Loghain to make screenshots.

As for pastimes: I think he'd be brilliant at chess. As would his lovely daughter. I could see them having heated chess matches.^^ Also, I could see him sparring with his men regularly as Caesar did. (They loved him for it) Reading. (Listen to his refined speech....) Now the question is, what would a man like Loghain read? My version of Loghain also loves to ride. He loves animals in general, mabaris being his weakness Nr. 1, I think.

If Bioware didn't want us to lust over him, they would have switched his and Howe's headmorphs, had him voiced by Cammen's voice actor instead of Templeman, and given him Ol tegrin's personality.  ;)

Anyway, I would think, Loghain having been born and raised a farmer, and being pretty down to earth in his habits and manners, would find enjoyment in similar pasttimes that common folks do. He did once have to poach to survive, so perhaps hunting and fishing would provide a welcome break from the stresses of being in power and surrounded by poncy nobility. He is certainly fit and healthy, so I would imagine his pasttimes are active ones.

Now that I can see: when Anora was young, instead of playing with dollies, sitting down with daddy in his study and learning to play chess (and even beating him a couple times). And maybe wrestling/sparring too. She certainly was not "a girly girl" growing up.

As far as reading goes, I can see him enjoying Ferelden based literature, like collections of Ferelden folklore, Ferelden history and geography, ect. And strangely enough, he might even read a book or two on botany, given his wife's love of gardening, so he could have conversations with his wife about her interests. I think he did love his wife, even if he still carried a flame for Rowan, and would have made efforts to share in some of her interests as well.

The story Anora tells you about the rose bush actually says alot about his character: he meant to help his wife with the rose, ended up killing it because gardening is not one of his talents. Yet instead of shrugging it off and saying "sh*t happens", he went out of his way (and probably got scratched up legs in the process) of making it up and setting things right.

A very touching, but insightful, summary of Loghain's character, in general, because it is not difficult at all to see the paralells between that, and the plot in general.

Oh man, talking of naked Loghain, I just dreamed that he took off his armour and was all saggy and flabby. Urgh. I was all "Nooooo! He doesn't look like that!" Damn my subconscious.

Are you saying that Loghain wears a corset? Ew.

I just can't see Loghain as a man who'd let himself slip. He's one of those guys you see in their seventies still going to the gym and still playing tennis with his cronies.

Morrigan's banter provides the key insights here.  Image IPB

Yep, she's my BFF for more reasons than one.  She's got her priorities straight!

Except if you are Arab. Then you can expect to stay there for 700 years.

And yea the word guerrilla comes from that period and it's of course a Spanish word. For a reason.

Poor Loghain.

Indeed, strategy games that have nothing to do with DA are still more on topic when it comes to Loghain than smut.

Hmmm, you know... It would be a trivially easy task to put a 'kiss him" option in for Loghain. to make it an active romance, though, I'd have to look into it a bit more... making the sexytime cutscene would take a bit longer (unless I went completely lazy and just used Alistair's vanilla which sucks).

Did you notice this from Mark Darrah about the future of the DA franchise

I could easily imagine us doing some sort of strategy game in the
future, especially if we want to get into very large, political stories
where we have nations fighting against each other. So there's a lot
still to be done.

:o

Although I question Bioware's ability to make functioning strategy games.
BUT, political stories and intrigue? That I can trust Bioware to do (though I am sorry to say that warfare in both Origins and the novels is extremily meeh, so they need an expert on that).

You know....I would love a kiss scene like the one in "Alistair's kiss". YUM. And I'd be FOREVER grateful, as your work is AWESOME.

Yes indeed.  Loghain is a romantic lead in TST.  Dudes need to get over it.

Edit:  I don't care what anyone talks about.  Just would hate to see the thread get locked the next time a sweep is made.

@mousetalker - Yeah, considering he berates Eamon for getting fat, I'd agree with you. Guys in their fifties can still look awesome if they exercise well and eat properly.

As for kisses, if someone can make one as passionate as cmessaz' Cullen romance option mod I'd download it in a trice.

There is a Loghain Romance Mod that uses the Alistair's vanilla kiss/sex scenes, but there are some glitches in in it and some lines have no VO. I was working on a improved version of it, still using Alistair's vanilla scenes, it was almost done actually, I haven't uploaded it because the vanilla scenes don't look as nice as those of Alistair's mods around.

So I decided to go for some custom animations, unfortunately it takes a lot of time, and avoid using his main dialogue file because Phaonica's mod will probably use it a lot. *waits eagerly for Phaonica's mod*

And another drawn in by the DARK SIDE! :lol:

But IMO there should be more Loghain Mods. MANY more.

Why they would want to is beyond me. At least in Morrocco, you can actually eat a dish that doesn't contain some putrid pork product.<_<

Back to strategy ~

Did anyone ever get the feeling that for a tactical genius, the plan at Ostagar was kind of.... basic/stupid? I mean, I know he wasnt planning on following it, but shouldnt there have been some sort of notice by Duncan or anyone else at the meeting that this does not seem like a strategy that the Hero of River Dane would use to achieve victory?
