I am trying to make him join me. I now have a lordless city, perhaps I can offer it to him and see. I owe this much to my wife afterall.

You must have REALLY pissed that guy off by now.

Has he actually attacked you yet or has he stayed quiet?

He actually likes me.

When I seceded, the Sarranids attacked me for a while (but they were fighting a three front war by that point). I dfeated the guy, but let him go instead of take him prisoner (I actually did the same to all Sarranid lords. They were once my friends and I am hoping they will be my allies in the future)

Sadly the game doesn't seem to recognize the fact that his daughter turned her back on him and her family. But eh. I've always liked the guy and I want him on my side.

Mount & Blade: Warband.

It is interesting and it's a genre new to me (despite having wanted to play something similar for years).
I am actually not sure what genre it is. A mix of RPG and strategy.

I didnt know paradox was in the business of making RPG, I very much loved the Europa Universalis series and crusader kings game (didn't go for Hearts of iron, because I find WWII games boring).
Definitely worth taking a look at.

I'm not really seeing the MacBeth similarity either, although MacBeth was killed by one "not of woman born" (which would fit Alistair if you go that route). I didn't really like Loghain in the novels but thought he was a very interesting and sympathetic companion. He obviously did what he thought was his "duty" even if it made him the most hated man in Ferelden. Gotta respect that.

Sorry about killing him. I conceptualized the vid as "Loghain and Warden cut through all the bulls**t, form a good relationship and do what must be done." Playing that path to harvest clips I really became fond of him. (Your sympathetic portrayal in TA helped a lot!) The previous playthrough with him I was more "shut up and get your butt to Redcliffe," so I missed out on some good conversations. He is a good mentor to the Warden -- something lacking in the other companions (with the possible exception of Wynne). The DR decision convo with him was refreshing -- he's very pragmatic and I felt comfortable making a joint decision with him whereas Alistair is all "Eww, Morrigan!" and doesn't offer any logical arguments.  (This is too bad, because I could see Alistair having several relevant arguments against doing the DR besides his personal feelings for Morrigan. Maybe the developers didn't want to make us fangirls feel bad about doing the DR -- or maybe they trusted us to figure out the reasons ourselves.) This just makes Loghain seem more like a trusted ally/equal, whereas Alistair is more of a trusted subordinate who needs the Warden to tell him what to do.

Eh, Sarah, it was a tortured semantic argument. "If a C-section counts as not being born, then a female elf counts as a non-woman." If hats with twigs (okay, waving branches) count as Birnam Wood, then logic really isn't in play.

Only if the implication is that 'woman' means 'human woman.' As far as I've heard, elven females are called women as well.
