Also, I did a google image search of Loghain to make this relevant, and yeah, KoP's sig and profile pic showed up. Imagine that! :P

Ha! Yea I came accross that. It was my old sig, where I had posted my Loghain tribute video link.

I love that video. I only wish you'd left in the part where Loghain called Eamon old and fat. Heh.

Lol, as much as I love that part, it wouldn't have been dramatic and would have felt out of place.

And that's why you make better videos than I could. :)

On topic, The Stolen Throne cover, because it's win:

Looking back at it, I could have made it so much better. I should have added the "I know exactly what I sacrificed" sentence when I was showing the troops at Ostagar. I rushed it and it shows :(

More young Loghain pics.

Meh, I still like it. I wish I had time to spend on learning the cutscene editor. I keep thinking about using it to make flashbacks for Loghain.

The cutscene editor is a really neato way to do fanfics. Its a shame more people don't do more fanfic-ish movies with the thing. I've had ideas for a few, but I don't need to be distracting myself with new projects. Posted Image

Eh, if I knew how to, I would probably spend my whole life making a dozens of hours long fanfic-ish video about Arcturus Cousland pre / during / post Origins.
Sigh, I've invested a lot in that character.

I would be down with doing something like that, I'm a pretty big fan of writing and doing cinematics, I just need to figure out how to use the cutscene editor...I don't see why a group of us can't just form a group and do this as one big project.

Even though I work (and study part-time), I could still find time to do something like this .

If someone would be willing to record all the Loghain lines and scene that would be worth putting in a video, then I would gladly make a tribute video for him.

Seriously though, never rush making a video or it will come out bad. Though there are always lessons to be earned each time you make one though ( check out my Spartans of Middle Earth video compared to Strands of Fate for an example of this ).

It's really weird how something so small, like this cameo, made me happy lol.

Because by the time Loghain got there, I was starting to get slightly bored with Awakening and was feeling nostalgic about Origins and BAM he shows up and gives me the energy to carry on lol

I'm imagining the Loghain/Arcturus reunion. I won't lie, I'm hearing "Wind Beneath My Wings" when Arcturus goes to bed that night, ready to face whatever comes next.

Aww I felt so bad for him having to go to Orlais. At least they could have stationed him in Jader, which is just over the border, but no, he had to go to Montsimmard. I hope at least he was able to come back to Fereldan before he died. (Mind you, in most of my games I let him go out slaying the archdemon - it seems the most fitting end for him, and ensures he'll be remembered the right way. But my Cousland consort was in a relationship with Morrigan before he married Anora, so he did the DR to keep her happy and to keep the new missus' dad alive...)

I do love the way Loggy threatens to come back and kick your arse if you don't treat Anora right. Not that he says it outright, but it's heavily implied, heh.

Lol, I wouldn't go that far, but yea that could work.
Arcturus definately considered Loghain to be a hero when  he was a kid.

He was sad that this might be the last time he ever sees Loghain before he goes on his calling.

I have a question which I don't know if it's been addressed elsewhere but I thought this would be a good place to post. As I was going through the Landsmeet the other night (once again), I listened to Loghain's speech when he accused Eamon of making a power grab for the throne. I used to dismiss that part of it before because I naively thought that Eamon's only purpose was to preserve the Theirin bloodline, but what if it wasn't?

I'm questioning this because of how sympathetic Eamon seems to be towards Orlais, marrying an Orlesian even when it supposedly caused problems with Maric (according to Alistair),  and especially Eamon's letters to Cailan encouraging closer relations with Orlais. Does this strike anyone else as odd? Now I understand that marrying an Orlesian woman in and of itself doesn't have to mean anything, but it can - and taken together with his letters to Cailan, well, it just makes me wonder.  Rowan, Maric and Loghain sacrificed everything to free Ferelden...why is Eamon so keen for an alliance, I wonder?

Anyway, any of your insights would be appreiated - as the more I explore my feelings about Loghain the more I realize that his instincts about what might happen may not have been that far off from reality.

I'm at work so I may not be able to respond until later tonight... just a heads up.

From Eamon's letter, we can see that he wants Anora put aside because he doesn't think she can have children and he wants to preseve the Theirin bloodline. Loghain also suspects it's because Anora isn't noble enough for Eamon and that might be part of it. The letters from Celene have nothing to do with Eamon. Eamon doesn't mention Orlais in his letter and Celene doesn't mention Eamon.

That said, I absolutely think he was trying to get more power for himself. His ties to the throne were through his dead nephew and so he loses prestige if Anora keeps the throne to herself, especially as they don't seem to get along and she is perfectly competent. Alistiar, on the other hand, will need a lot of help at first since - however capable he might prove later - he has no idea what he's doing to begin with and unless the Hero of Ferelden asks to be chancellor, the job is Eamon's.

If Alistair is the same unhardened boy Eamon remembers then he will have a lot more power than even that as the epilogue slides for you as chancellor to an unhardened Alistair show that he often is away from court and the business of court literally grinds to a halt if you're not there. Since Alistair is the same in these scenarios, I would imagine that whoever his chancellor is has just as much power. Eamon is de facto King to an unhardened Alistair who doesn't have you as chancellor. If Anora marries Alistair then she can check him but Eamon doesn't want her on the throne anyway.

I do not think Eamon would betray Ferelden consciously and give it back to the Orlesians. Nor do I think he knows about Cailan and Empress Celene's rather very casual letters speaking of a "permanent alliance" (which I interpret as marriage).

But it seems, to me at least, that he does not worry that much about Orlais being a threat. He did marry an Orlesian so soon after the war and that ticked even Maric off. He doesn't mind having Legions of Chevaliers going in the country either. But all this does not give me the impression that he is a traitor. Rather, that he is not that smart and politically aware (at least vis a vis what lies outside Ferelden internal politics).

If you speak to him about the war (after the Loghain encounter in Eamon's Denerim estate) he does say that it was hard being a vassal in your own country, being ruled by poncy little Orlesian nobles, or words to that effect. Which leads me to believe he is not keen on the idea of that happening again. However, as KoP says, he doesn't see them as a threat, at that point.

Great responses, thanks! I think certain things had gotten muddled in my head after reading so much on the forums and then my imagination ran away with itself. Thanks for straightening me out,

It was only Loghain's impression that Cailan was going to go after Celene? It's not supported anywhere, correct?

The letters are the only thing you know about a potential alliance, and you're left to make assumptions about what the alliance meant. Although, I will say that my first runthrough of RtO was with Wynne and Alistair and even I thought it was a reference to marriage.

They might but I can't see it being marriage to Celene. It's a horrible idea for Ferelden and she's even older than Anora so no babies that way. I could see Cailan marrying another Orlesian noblewoman if he could be convinced to put Anora aside.

Yes I think I remember reading the letters and wasn't there a description that read "uncharacteristically informal" or something like that?
