LOL! First I thought the lightning bolt was coming from any runes I had in his sword but then I rememberd that I only equipped it with hale runes. *facepalm*

And yes, I think Skadi's theory is correct!

Blue steel!

I'm glad the thread has come back on topic, finally. (And Wynne, grrr. When I play a mage these days I tend to kill her, with a little help from Morrigan).

But you miss out on the best Loghain snark!

Why hold your tounge now Wynne, nothing has stopped you before...
Why yes... my plan in fact was to destroy the single greatest weapon Fereldan has.

I prefer to keep her alive to torture her.

Speaking of Wynne, I finally managed to do RtO with both Loghain and Wynne (I had Wynne's approval at -97 through most of the game... I had to be careful so that she wouldn't leave).

Twas so damn good to have Loghain shut her up. And seriously, she couldn't even hold her tongue when dealing with Cailan's body.

"Speak your venom and get it over with Loghain!"

Hag.

LOL, how'd you get it that low?

The whole RTO exchange between Loghain and Wynne filled me with the overwhelming urge to perpetually hump his leg in joy. I watched it once long ago. I need a playthrough in which Wynne is still around by the time I spare Loghain.

Well... the -50 from the feastday prank helped a lot! :D

So I guess it was only -47 really. Still, it wouldn't have been hard to make it all the way to -100 without the prank gift.

She gives -20 for sending her into the Fade with Jowan's ritual and -18 for telling her to shut up about the elven sacrifice by Caladrius (even if you don't actually do it). Couple that with being nasty with her in every dialog and making a few decisions she disapproves of (preserving the Anvil, siding with the werewolves, leaving Cailan to the darkspawn, sparing Avernus, etc.)... yeah, it'd be pretty easy to get there.

I do generally keep her on characters that are not mages and are not planning to do the DR, because the Archdemon fight is a pain with no mages.

My Cousland female got on best with Wynne because a) she didn't have to listen to the whole "you should go back to the Circle" thing during the Aneirin quest, and B) she didn't romance anyone so didn't get that lecture either.

I guess a female mage romancing Zevran gets the worst of it, heh. But at least Loghain shuts her up rather nicely. He's awesome like that.

I never save Loghain because I can't stand him, and I always play a male. So it seems I've missed out on a lot of interesting dialog! Funny, as a guy she has never said a word to me about sexing any of the females. Has double standards, does she?

What? She does give the love conversation regardless of gender. Keep in mind that her love convo only triggers once you reach "adore" level with your LI.

And yes, you are missing out on a lot of Loghain dialogue. Even if you hate him I'd recommend you spare him just once to see all those dialogues.

I did save him once just to see his stats, which were horrible. But then I went back and replayed the Landsmeet. I also have a hard time letting Alistair go. It's embarrassing to say because it's just a game, but by the end I really feel like best friends with the guy. I guess that's kudos to the writers.

Edit: Also, is this love conversation a cutscene or background conversation while traveling?

Kudos to the writers indeed! At least check out the wiki then. You can read all of his banters with other characters there.

And the love convo happens in camp once you reach adore level with your LI. The next time you start a convo with Wynne it'll happen.

Hmmm... does the sex have to happen first? My current playthrough I'm at adore with Lilliana. But I'm having trouble triggering her companion quest so the relationship hasn't progressed into, well.. ya know...

Those having sex with Zevran or Morrigan get the worst nag-fests.

What would be awesome is if Loghain was romancable, what kind of ****-fest you'd get for him.

My eye was twitching by the end of one of my runs.

Female Blood Mage who romanced Zevran.

NO GO BACK TO THE CIRCLE!

OMG SHE IS A BLOOD MAGE I AM TELLING!

ZEVRAN IS A MAN HOE DUMP HIM!

YOU SHOULD BE THE NEW HEAD MAGE, BUT I DONT WANT IT!

Then her telling me how to be a nice little mage... oh god the only thing that kept me from strangling her was Zevran and Loghain zinging her so much.

Holy crap, really?!  I guess because it's blood magic, right.

Yeah, I kind of miss tormenting her on the runs where she ends up dead in the Tower.  It's most fun to niggle at her with a mage.

Exactly. Her exact words are:

"I do not appreciate being the subject of blood magic, but I... I will do my best. Pray your sacrifice is not wasted, my lady."

Morrigan gets a minus as well. Because we don't have the choice but be a complete a-hole. They don't even let me ask Morrigan if she wants to go there!

I might play the game as their leader and they my subordinates, but I'd ask them first, before ordering.

This is something I dislike, we can't interact with companions properly for each major decision. They just react to you barking orders. You can't stop for a sec and ask them for advice, except once when we see the Elven phylactery (and it's not advice). You can also ask Morrigan her opinion about the connor situation but she doesn't say anything new. That was disappointing, Morrigan said she studied our treaties and yet we were not given the chance to take advantage of it.

Totally agree there KoP. I HATE how the game doesn't give the chance to ask her first, especially when discussing the Connor issue with her.

EDIT:

No, you can have the convo before having sex with your LI. Hmm, perhaps you've hit a bug or something. It happens. I never triggered the Shriek attack in my last game.

There's a lot of oversight with the dialogue in game - I guess they had limited time and resources, or something, but it's rather unsatisfying. Not being able to ask your companions about something is one thing. Not being able to talk to Wynne as an adult is another.

Yep. But i dont feel like I am missing out on anything about talking to Wynne as an adult. I usually just introduce myself to her with two razor sharp daggers or a fireball on her face and that tends to convey the dialogue I wished for her to hear.
