Important thing is that she'll live, hopefully. You're taking this relatively well, I would have gone nuts.

I bet he feels bad about it. Does he feel bad about it?
If he flays himself first, will you forgive him?
Shirtless young Loghain with winking Maric got some color added.

Hopefully he's learned his lesson Skadi! Men tend to be gun-happy. I still rage at my dad for giving his hired hands permission to shoot dogs that wandered on to our property. The idiots did it once while I was close by and boy did I want to turn at least a pellet gun on them.
Ahem. Shirtless Loghain... I'm not so sure about the sparklies in the colored version. I guess that is the aura of manliness!

maybe when she's better, I'll make her a little pirate patch for her missing eye.

I just finished reading a book about Abd Al Rahman Al Dakhil, the Falcon of Quraish (and there was only one book about him in the Library!! WTF!! I'll have to rectify this in the future) and he of course had lost an eye.
Care to elaborate?
Yes, she's tough. And animals adapt remarkably well to handicaps. The important thing is that she is alive and recovering, and knows she's loved.
And now that my little monkey is home and safe, I spent the afternoon playing Sins of a Solar Empire. Twas awesome. I named my capital ship in honor of my kitty (The Missy Oblitorator) and won a very short, sweet, and simple scenario. The Vasari got pwned. Though it took me a while to figure out that paying the pirates to go attack my enemies means they are not harrassing me, and thus, was finally able to build a decent fleet.
The Advent purge ship voiceover is just too awesome. "Who needs to be punished?"

You know, the guy who founded the Umayyad emirate in Al Andalus after the Abasid Revolution. The guy I almost always end up talking about because I admire him so much lol. The guy who beat sense into the Arab, Berber, Gothic, Native Spaniard tribes / groups / nobles and forged a state out of nothing.
When he was fleeing the Abbasid onslaught, his eyes caught an inflammation I believe. He lost one of them. He looked badass with that one eye in the Syrian TV series about his life.
Awww Missy Obliterator is an epic name!
And yes, raising the bounty on others keeps the pirates off your back. That's why I personally like to focus on economy a lot.
And yea I love Advent voiceover. "Tremble before the unity!"
My favorite Advent ship (other than capital ships) has to be the Illuminator.

Ahhh, gotcha! It's a shame I don't understand much beyond basic Spanish, but I'd imagine the bigger towns with libraries here would have alot of books on him. I do remember, when I was at the Alhambra last with my inlaws, about half the books in the shops were about the history of Al Andalus. Same in Cordoba (where a most awesome mosque/catherdral hybrid still stands). Ok, now I know of whom you speak.
Having one eye just means you can focus the death rays more intensely.
I'm still trying to get used to the whole diplomacy mechanic. It's pretty cool, except when they expect me to attack someone in a certain time frame. It's like, "****** off, I gotta save my ships and resources for when I come and wipe out your planet later! Mwahahahahaha!"

The mosque / now cathedral in Cordoba, the Mezquita, was in fact built by Abd al Rahman al-Dakhil, on top of a church which he bought from the Christians. In fact, he was the one who drew the design. It was expanded several times by his successors.
Still, I find it almost offensive that a person like him only has one book in the Islamic Studies Library in one of the top universities in North America (Mcgill). And it's only a 150ish page book!
Now I htink I have an idea of what I could potetnial do for a PhD thesis. Write about one of my personal heroes.
Yes, sometimes it can get annoying (especially when they expect you to kill an ally), but with bribes and envoys, you an afford to ignore them and mitiguate relationship losses.
Too bad there isn't an option to mediate between 2 allies and all that. But I don't think any game managed to implement diplomacy that well.
Did you get a chance to hold pacts?

Yeah, I've been there. Underneath the cathedral the ruins of the original Visigothic church are still there, excavated and viewable. You can walk around the place, and even though it is one big single room, you can still get lost. It's a forest of Moorish arch columns and later added neoclassical ones. It is terribly strange, but it works. With the exception of the main mass area, it doesn't clash too badly. The stained glass Morrocan-patterened dome windows are are awesome. I spent 15 minutes staring at a single one.
Yeah, that certainly makes little sense. Al Andalus was a major period in Islamic, as well as European, history.
Not yet, haven't played that intensely, just very basic, easy scenarios until I get the flow of things. For now, just basically keeping it simple.

I did that for my BA honors thesis, but my heroes changed over time. Also the writing was crap because I was too focused on hero worship rather than scholarship. You're going to study history? I would ask around and find out an area of primary research that's lacking and do that.KnightofPhoenix wrote...
