He even made some sympathy points with me for accepting the rules of the duel and his death so easily without anything further to say, so if I play it a second time I'll maybe choose to recruit him.
I recommend doing it at least once, just for the experience if for nothing else. Keep in mind, as well, that if you still think he's a *beep* even after you recruit him, your PC has plenty of dialogue options in which to tell him so. Recruiting him does not necessarily mean that you like him, or support him, or condone any of his actions. You may find yourself liking him better than you would have expected; but even if you don't, your PC can hate him all the way up to and including the post-Coronation ceremony. Just fyi if that helps your decision any in your next playthrough.

As for Celene-Anora, I think the two would get along rather well, despite the history regarding their parents. Sure, Celene has less options than with Alistair, but I do think that the two could be able to be the foundation of a mutual relationship between the two countries. Not sure if you'd have another Maric-Loghain situation where you're arranging marriages for descendants.
But then again, you do have an increasingly divided Ferelden (according to Witch Hunt), which could subvert any relationship between the monarchs of the two countries and create a war they were looking for.
BTW, how would Teyrn Loghain think of a possible war between Orlais and Ferelden? Think his time in Monstimmard changed his attitude regarding Orlais and a possible chance of seeing Ferelden fight (and finish?) them?

celene has no desire to get along with anyone. While she respects Anora far above her countrymen, Ferelden is still something she plans on devouring whole and sharing with none. She really doesn't want to make friends with her inferiors.
As for Loghain, he had always suspected the orlesians would do their very best to return and take what they lost, so it wouldn't surprise him in the least. He'd be expecting it, in fact. Doubt being in Orlais changed him much, probably made him hate it even more, lol.
But it wouldn't matter, because Loghain is dead or dying by the time all this comes up, since he only lives for a few more years after joining.

Even when I win the Landsmeet, as I did, I still usually take the brawl anyway, so I can enjoy Loghain running around going rawr, and it's the only opportunity to enjoy Loghain beating the crap out of Eamon.
Just the idea that Eamon thinks he can take on the Hero of River Dane makes me laugh. He either has a pair of brass cajones or he's just plain stoopid.
Bear in mind Eamon also thinks he can solo the archdemon, and gets chewed up and spat out for his pains. I'm voting for plain stupid.

For some reason I imagine panties and bloomers being thrown at Warden-recruiter Loghain as he passes from town to town throughout Orlais.
Loghain: The Elvis of Ferelden, lol! Mobs of hormonally charged fangirls tossing bras and panties before the Hero of River Dane. Well, he does have black hair and sexy blue eyes. I wonder if he can move like Elvis and shake those hips!
Maybe that's what Loghain was really up to in Orlais: he heard there was a convention of Loghain impersonators going on in Montissamard, and decided to go there and smack the sh*t out of all those Orlesian wannabes who dared think they could imitate his awesomeness.
@Cal: For Eamon, I'd say, he's senile. Along with being old a fat. And a tool.

I figured he'd be bothered by all the attention.

Great now I have ideas in my head of Loghain in Orlais and finding a recruit who reminds of Celia-Rowan-Cautherin, then being at war with himself by being attached to an orlesian in any way, and trying to turn any inkling of romantic feelings into a mentorship. STOOOOOOOOOOP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Your first point, highly unlikely. Cailan and Alistair are very different. The bedroom route worked with Cailan because Cailan was an idiot led by his loins. While Alistair might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, trying to use seduction on him might not work as well, because he is more of a prude and prefers to actually be in a relationship long before playtime. Plus, he's not as dumb as Cailan was, and might at least wonder if something else was up, though not what exactly.
celene has no desire to get along with anyone. While she respects Anora far above her countrymen, Ferelden is still something she plans on devouring whole and sharing with none. She really doesn't want to make friends with her inferiors.
But there is something to be said for conquering a region without a single casualty. And that can certainly be a better option when trying to take over a region. Of course, the quickest way would be to simply slaughter your way through the area you want to acquire.
And yeah, you're probably right that Alistair would be harder to win over than Cailan, especially if he's married. Her alternate options if she wanted to marry her way to Ferelden's throne would probably be Fergus Cousland, then produce a child and hope Alistair or Anora have no heirs all while making the necessary political maneuvers to convince the Landsmeet that the throne should go to Celene and Fergus.
And his role as Warden would have probably left him unable to do anything about it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Orlesian Warden-Commander tried to negate any political move Loghain attempted to make.

Oh, there's no doubt the brilliance in Celene's plan to take over Ferelden without a single drop of blood shed. But for celene, that plan was mainly contingent on Cailan being a glory obsessed idiot who thinks with his nuts. With Cailan gone, Celene would have to find another noble, with a strong enough claim to the throne, who was idiot enough to be manupilated into such a situation. In the current state of affairs, there is no one in Ferelden that can fit that. Fergus seems an unlikely candidate, as he doesn't seem to be an idiot, nor is he terribly ambitious.
And his role as Warden would have probably left him unable to do anything about it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Orlesian Warden-Commander tried to negate any political move Loghain attempted to make.
Loghain isn't a political mind, any move he made would be pretty blunt. If he was still alive and heard of celene's intentions to re-invade, he's pretty much leave and head back to Ferelden, Wardens and their commanders be damned.

The only thing that detracted from a feeling of pure justice when i killed him was that i had to do so with anora 2 ft away from us when it occurs. (the blood spraying anora was a lil sad)
Lets look at the facts, he kills cailan and the grey wardens, pinning the rap on the wardens for his actions.
he allies himself with the arl that just slaughtered an entire family of human nobles who he pretended to have been their friend.
he leaves his guards to kill any wardens.
he sends assassins after the wardens.
he lets anora be held prisoner by howe.
he had eamon poisoned
he sells the alienage elves into slavery to fund the war
should i go on?
he is a d-bag of the lowest caliber, and deserves a traitors death, but since we cant have that i just go choppy choppy and kill him.

Hmmm...Elvi-ghain. Can see the conspiracy theories already....Loghain didn't really die at the Landsmeet, or on the archdemon, or from the Calling....he really just faked his own death because he wanted to get away from the limelight and lovers/haters. Soon, there shall be sighting reports of Loghain all over Ferelden after his "death"......
Hmm. . .For the Orlesians, this could also work in two additoinal ways: (1) for misbehaving little kids, as in "If you don't do as you're told, the Hero of River Dane will get you in your sleep; or (2) for romantic young ladies, as in "If you burn this herb and draw this symbol on the floor, the Hero of River Dane will come for you in the night."

That alone is worth the flinging undergarments of 1000 nubile virgins before him.
A sudden, mysterious outbreak in crop circles, abductions, and Chevalier mutilations....hmmmm...
