I am shocked at you.

You know that no medium can ever capture the perfection of the great ones!
Its insulting to even attempt such an act!

Ferelden is already slotted for terrible judgement due to it's dog worshiping, dead cat swinging ways.

Yes. And as a result, France has been forever cursed by The Great Ones. It is why they are doomed to always be the laughing stock of nations and the favorite vacationing spot for German armies. And as France sinks into international oblivion and irrelevance, The Great Ones smile and rub their paws in triumph.

No nation that brings harm to our purring Overlords shall escape judgement and damnation.:police::innocent:

My dad sent me a joke horoscope in my email, and it made me wonder about DA NPCs and companions and what their signs/birth charts would be like, so I decided to cast horoscopes for a few of them.

Loghain's sun is definitely Capricorn. Capricorn is an earth sign, which the element of stability and the material world. It is also a cardinal sign, which means leadership and a self starter. Capricorn, along with Ares, is the sign most associated with the military and generals. Capricorns are highly self reliant, hard working climbers who prefer to take calculated risks and make plans, and they despise recklessness and impulsiveness. They are known for having a very dry, wicked sense of humor and are very opinionated. They are also notorious workaholics, and while responsible parents, they often spend more time working than with family. It's also the sign of old age, maturity, and death. Capricorns age well and get younger as they get older, but are very emotionally reserved and favor tradition. The downside of Capricorns is that they are incredibly stubborn and rigid in their opinions and beliefs, and often refuse to change their thinking even when they know they are wrong. They are also probe to paranoia, and given their dominant nature, can grow oppresive and tyrranical in their behavior. His rising sign is definitely Taurus, another earth sign, and the sign most associated with farmers and farming. Taurus rising makes him even more stubborn and resistant to change or advice. It also fits his family name Mac Tir, Son of the Land. His midheaven, which in a horoscope determines career and destiny, would likely be Ares, the sign associated with war and military.

Bhelen is definitely a Scorpio. Scorpio is the sign of raw, pure power, especially and mainly power through shadowy and underhanded means. It is also the sign most associated with tyrants, dictators, crime lords, or authoritarian leaders. Scorpios thrive on scheming, manipulation, and cunning, but often appear on the surface to be cool, collected, and distinterested. The are wholly dedicated to their goals to the point of obsession, and will defend them to the death. Scorpios do not believe in comprimising anything. It is also the sign associated with regenration and rebirth from disaster or its brink, it's alternate symbole being the phoenix rising from the ashes. And Scorpio is generally the most ruthless sign of the Zodiac. When they want something, they will get it by any means necessary. His rising sign would probably be aquarius, the revolutionary, the harbringer of change and destroyer of the old order. Aquarius rising prefers egaltarianism and bold new ideas, especially regarding the broader picture and the future. I'd say Scorpio midheaven, given that power and authority are his destiny.

Alistair is Cancer, I think. Moody, retiring, shy, and extremely emotional. Cancers tend to be both needy and nurturing, and is the sign of home, family, and childhood. Cancers are easily damaged from unhappy childhoods and being seperated from family. When deprived of family, they will eager try and "adopt" a new one, becoming very attached to them. Being the sign most associated with food and dairy especially, Cancers love to eat. Especially cheese. They hold grudges forever, especially against people who have harmed family and home. His rising sign would probably Libra: charming, indescisive, and reluctant to make decisions for fear of hurting someone by them. Midheaven would be Virgo, his destiny and ambition being to serve others.

Morrigan I think is also a Scorpio. Scorpio is heavily associated with secrecy and mystery. As well as procreation and magic. It is also the sign of survival. Her midheaven would also be Scorpio, but her rising would probably be Capricorn, given her standoffishness and abrasiveness. It is also the sign most associated with woodlands and woodland creatures, and the wilderness.

Wynne has all the worst traits of a Virgo: preachy, condescending, nagging, quick to criticize, prudish, and a neat freak.

Leliana fits the bill for a Pisces: Charming, poetic, romantic, and creative, with a tendancy to fall in love easily. Pisces is also the most spiritually inclinded sign, the one most associated with religous visions, monastaries, and spiritual retreats. They tend to live in dream worlds, are very soft hearted and forgiving, and most prone to self delusions. Rising would be Libra, adding to her charm and love of beauty and fashion. Libra is also very diplomatic and is a peacemaker. Midheaven would be Leo, the entertainer, the master of drama.

Cailan's a Leo. The sign most associated with kings. Also the most Hollywoodish of the signs, and the sign associated with entertainment, children, and gambling. And Leos like to think everything they touch is Glorious!

Sten is a Taurus. Stubborn and unchanging, resillent, indominable, and unshakables. And Taurus is often associated with having an incurable sweet tooth.

Oghren: Ares. Agressive, impulsive, acts rather than thinks, likes to charge into situations head on, has little patience for anything. Likes to do things in excess. Ares is the sign of the warrior, and is considered the most "manly" of the signs.

Zevran: Another Scorpio. Scorpio is associated with criminal undergrounds, assasins, and shadow dealings. Scorpio is also the sign that rules sex, and they have strongest sex drives and endurance. Death/ violent death is also another characteristic to this sign, and Scorpios are extremely deep, complicated individuals beneath the surface They also like the explore the extremes of sexuality as well. Rising would be Sagitarius: laid back, optimistic, blunt, open minded, and likes to explore new horizons.

Anora would be Libra, the diplomat. Libras are generally considered to be elegant, charming, refined, who seek accord and cooperation. They prefer to approach life with a balanced perspective. Her rising would probably also be Libra. I think her midheaven would be Aquarius, since she is destined to broaden Ferelden's horizons and develop a better society.

I am a Capricorn with my rising being Aquarius ( which fits very well my strong utilitarian views ).

You are particularly sensitive to the values of friendship in the sense that you see yourself as a link within a chain, certainly a different and original one, but with no will to flatter your ego or to individually assert yourself. On the contrary, your aim is to immerge yourself in your friendly relations and to participate in projects and ideals of the whole human community.

With this Ascendant, you come across as idealistic, altruistic, detached, independent, original, surprising, gifted, contradictory, innovative, humanistic, likeable, friendly, self-confident, impassive, quiet, intuitive, creative, charitable, elusive, disconcerting, generous, tolerant, paradoxical, and you cannot stand any kind of constraint. But you may also be marginal, resigned, distant, utopian, maladjusted, eccentric and cold.

I think my ascendant is somewhat accurate (especially the bolded part):

Scorpio

Your psychological nature is bilious with aggressive impulses that spur the transformation of your being and of any situation you are involved in. You are constantly struggling to assert yourself. You cannot refrain from testing others with cutting remarks, not because you want to hurt them, but because you want to know them better through their reaction; life and the feeling of aliveness are experienced through rebellion and tension. Your aggressive attitude may equate with sly inquisition as often, you remain silent, introverted and secretive, mulling over turbulent thoughts in the depths of your mind, leaving others puzzled by your quite strange behaviour.

With this Ascendant, you come across as secretive, powerful, dominating, enduring, intuitive, assertive, charismatic, magnetic, wilful, daring, clear-sighted, passionate, creative, independent, vigorous, generous, loyal, hard-working, persevering, indomitable, possessive, shrewd, stubborn, ambitious, instinctive, tenacious, sexual,
sexy, proud, intense and competitive. But you may also be aggressive, destructive, stubborn, anxious, tyrannical, perverse, sadistic, violent,self-centered, complex, critical, cruel, nasty, jealous, calculating, vulnerable and dissembling.

Fortunately, the Libra side is seemingly keeping the aggressive impulses under control. And yes, I know I have them.

And I don't know why calculating is listed as a negative.

LOL! Same as me= Capricorn sun, Aquarius rising. Weird.

Aqarius is also the sign of the bizarre, chaos, disruption, and anarchy. :)

@KoP: Yeah, I figured Scorpio was either your sun or rising, given your fascination with power with few qualms on how it is won.

And yeah, being calculating is considered negative by alot of people. But then again, so is being insane, so go figure. When a friend and I calculated my birthchart once, and there seemed to be a strong theme and prediction of mental illness and institutionalization. Like, it was something I should try and avoid, not embrace.

Don't ask me why, but there you have it. :bandit:

On the subject of Dragon Age II, I announce ( smugly ) that I am proven right again.

There is a side quest if you import a warden who slaughtered Zathrian and his clan were you make a potion for someone to make the Werewolves a lot less hostile.

Also in Finding Nathaniel it is said that the Wardens hoped that by sparing the Architect the Deep Roads would be made a lot safer ( and we do see the Architect working together with the Wardens ).

Just read the thread. Interesting theory.

I do not think, though, after seeing a similar letter whether the archtect lives or dies, that there is really any collaboration going on with the Wardens and the architect. More like the Wardens sending the plundered notes on the Avernus. In the epilogues of Awakening, if you let him live, the First Warden is pissed off and sends people to go find and kill the Architect, but they find nothing.

That said, I do believe the Architect's research and notes/writings are of extreme interest to the Wardens, because of their source. It's not everyday you find a darkspawn that can talk, let alone perform scientific research and write down his findings. If the Architect survived, Nathaniel and the others were probably looking for him, either on their own or on the First Warden's orders. If there is any collaboration with the architect, it would be a rogue sect, I think.

But as far as the Architect possibly researching ways to empower Wardens, I agree with what brock said. It's more likely that Avernus discovered something from the notes because he was looking at it from a different perspective, and saw something from the angle of looking for ways to help the Wardens, that he discovered something.

Interesting stuff happening in Syria. I don't know what happened exactly, but it seems like some security and regime forces are disobeying direct orders (or was it just for show?) not to engage the protesters (an idiot move, it only made it worse).

If he plays it smart, Bashar can purge the old guard once and for all.

Well all we get is another pointless election in Canada.

Things never change, and really I am fed up with the entire left wing in Canadian politics.

Provided he can get a grip on the situation before it gets out of hand. Ghadafi waited too long, was too confident and out of touch to see just how deep and widespread the sentiments were.

I heard Jordan has also had alot of problems, and the situation in Yemen is getting shakier. About the only country in the region that has been relatively calm is Saudi Arabia. Probably because they got a tighter grip on the country in all respects, though the sentiments are certainly there. Wonder how long they will remain calm.

Apparently Latakia is in chaos, with random people shooting and killing at random. The army just went in to impose order. If I was the regime, I'd send a few maniacs to create as much chaos as possible of course.

The security forces have been disengaged from Deraa, so maybe he was able to control some extremist elements within the security apparatus (assuming he wasn't the one who told them to do it in the first place and is now washing his hands from them). Counter-protests happened in Damascus, which thankfully is still safe.

Using violence on Deraa from the very beginning was a huge blunder. If you want to use fear and violence, you must hit very hard and very fast and completely break them (like in Hama). Such tactics are no longer feasible with the presence of mass media and an aggressive West. The killing of a few protesters each day is only making it worse. Syrians happen to be a very proud people and one of their slogan is "we will not be humiliated", probably referring to the other Arab people who did what they didn't dare to do. Half arsed acts of violence are not going to work. And brutal acts of violence are no longer feasible.

He should have just let it die in Deraa and make some maniacs infiltrate the protests and create chaos.

Yet another Federal election.
Where all the parties act like utter morons and throw **** at each other.
Where we will see the only right wing party get another minority government.

Waste of time and money.

Probably going to collapse. Lebanon is almost entirely dependent on Syria in almost everything.

I figured as much. And if Lebanon collapses, Israel is going to get involved. Which is something I'd really rather see avoided at all costs. Though Israel getting involved could be enough to temporarily stop most of the civil unrest unite people. Temporarily. But then you'd end up with a situation no more desirable than the old one.

I really hope Bashar gets the situation under control soon, and that Syrans don't have it out for him like the Lybians do Ghadafi.

Interestingly, Europe seems for the first time in a long time, as a whole, to be leaning toward more right-wing govornments, due to the major govornmental financial crisies all over. And Europe is pretty much the left-wing promised land. Perhaps canada might start swinging more center-right as financial crisis gets worse.
