@Skadi:
More developer hype.
Like how ME2 was the DARK AND EDGY MIDDLE CHAPTER!!!!!!

In regards to New Vegas:
House in the end returns Vegas to its old world glory and the city returns to its pre-war state.

The NCR is still overly bureaucratic, raises taxes, and keeps expanding after they take over.

Depending on which choices you make the courier can preside over an expanding New Vegas, or a very lawless New Vegas.

Caesar's Legion stomps any resistance into the dirt and reverts Vegas down quite a bit but brings order to the Mojave again.

Fun game.,.. just kind of feels like New Vegas is kind of screwy no matter what you do.
Talking to Mr House is like talking to KoP somewhat.
Then talking to Caesar is like talking to Costin as well.

Sold the game after I beat it for the fourth time.

Also:
Craig Boone FTW.

Hmmm, I guess I'll take the comparison as a complement then :P

Marketing hype.

@KoP.

House pretty much steam rolls anyone in his way and has a lot of plans in place to get Vegas running again.
If his plan was actually done BEFORE the Great War started... then not one bomb would have landed near Vegas.

Cool guy and a total do what you like as long as it does not upset my plans or the city type leader.

Well....

Fallout New Vegas Spoiler:

Mr House is actually kept alive by a machine for the past centuries and is talking through a computer interface. He is not really alive by his own means anymore.

Or like "push a button, Hawke does something awesome" type crap.

I thought it was probably hype, but wasn't sure, maybe I missed something. Guess I didn't. Which kinda sucks, because from what I've been reading of the storyline and quests, its more like Hawke is just a sidekick or bystander to history, like forest gump. other than being there, Hawke doesn't seem to impact the world the way the Warden did. His companions do more than anything.

The play between DAO and DA2 is like Pulp fiction, where two stories seem to cross at seemingly inconsequential points.

So like, no matter what happens, Hawke doesn't get to take over Kirkwall, or get to hatch various wider-ranging plots? That kinda sucks. Still looking forward to playing it, though I will probably wait a while longer for patches to eb released because of all the annoying import bugs.

You can just import the default saves instead.
Those work fine.

Really though the warden and Hawke may have started things moving but I think its safe to say that Flemeth is probably the most important person in Dragon Age right now.

With Morrigan running a close second.

Meh. None of the default saves really interest me. Much rather import my Wardens.

And Flemmeth is definitely the biggest mover and shaker in Thedas, but the Warden in DAO had alot more potential for their descisions to impact Ferelden and Orzammar, and perhaps certain aspects of Thedas.

Still, there's enough lorewise and enough potential for DA2 to make it worth playing, I think. I'm hoping the lack of epilogue or ending is simply because there's a really good expansion around the corner that will continue and tie up the story. I can always hope.

Actually the no-compromise import is cool.

Total I WILL DESTROY ALL IN MY PATH Dwarf Noble.

He:
Annulled the Circle
Sided with the Werewolves
Burned Amaranthine to the ground
Exiled Alistair
etc.

Pretty much is the opposite of the nice guy hero.

I....can see the similarities in how thinks.

That said I don't agree at all with quite a few of his decisions.

Independent New Vegas for me FTW.

I mini-nuked him myself.

I was fighting Caesar's Legion ever since Nipton.... that was just... wrong on every level.

That's actually one of the few things I can agree on ( very harsh laws ).

I might have sidded with them if I didn't have to lose Boone. ( That and if they weren't so against technology as they are ).

Boone had to be one of the best companions in New Vegas.

Personally I loved seeing how every system was flawed, yet it had its good points between each groups.

Still the Kings were my all time faveourite group to meet.

I am really tempted to play a young Loghain Hawke in DA2.

Anyone have a good fanart picture they think matches up to a young Loghain?

Let's see... youngish, anyway.

This one reminds me of young Loghain even though it's not him.

So does this one, also by elfkin.  She's one of my favorite dA Tolkien artists and has just started a Dragon Age comic about a Dalish character!  ^^

Thanks addai!

Now I just have to decide where young Loghain would fall in the politics of DA2.

I have not read the Stolen Throne in a long while though, I do know what Maric would do though.

If Loghain was in the Warden's position at the Landsmeet, would he choose to spare himself?

That's a pretty damned good question. Would he? I think there's reasons why he would and wouldn't. That would make an awesome metaphysical experiment. But I could see him going either way.

Yes, I could see that. He would be pissed off and disgraced at the mess his double made of Ferelden, as well as him endangering it. Plus, after all that, he wouldn't trust himself, and decide he was too dangerous to live. But I could also see him deciding that becoming a Warden would be a cruel, fitting punishment as well for his double.

Something else I thought of, is that if Loghain was the Warden, I could see him developing a grudging fondness and attachment to Alistair, ironically, because more than Cailan, Alistair is his father in alot of ways, and Loghain would not miss the similarities to Maric. I could see Loghain hardening Alistair and having him marry Anora to secure the throne and quell opposition on both sides. And figuring what he lacked, Anora would make up for, and keep him in line.

Awesome! Arturus, the man with a plan, at last! :wizard:

I wonder what would happen if young Loghain met Loghain at the end of Origins?

Like the episode of Gargoyles where young demona met her future self.

World domination and cats! :innocent:

Actually, we are sharing canon character stories. And discussing and comparing their plans for world domination.

That reminds me of a conversation I had with Knight, he said Arcturus would build ships with ironbark.

This makes me wonder how much ironbark there is actually...a ship made entirely out of ironbark would be nigh indestructible compared to normal wood...

Also, any of your wardens would consider stealing the gathlocks from the Qunari...you know while they fight in Kirkwall and all ( that's what my wardens would do ).

I'm not certain how much ironbark there is. Its one thing I would like, a set of codexes going into more detail about the various material lore of the Dragon Age universe. Like, how is red steel forged or mined to make it different to normal steel. Or the properties of silverite, or in what habitat ironbark grows.

Since Ironbark seems to be interchangable with veridium, and verdium is a tier 4 material that's stronger than steel, yeah, a fleet of ironbark ships would pretty much own the high sees. Be nice to have more information on this material.

It seems, at least in game, to be pretty uncommon, as the Dalish smith was talking about it being somewhat uncommon.

What are gethlocks (sp?) or whatever they are, anyway?
