Loghain Hawke will yearn after Aveline for years though and end up with Isabela I think.
Isabela reminds me of Skadi though.

Then I think he may just have casual sex with Isabela.
Then regret it a lot.

That said, given everything I've read about Meredith and her oppresion of the mages, plus the fact she is corrupt and insane, couple by the Chantry's general apathy, even support of oppressing mages, I actually see Loghain more likely to side with the mages.
He might not be a big fan of anarchy and chaos, but neither is he really one to accept "order" on the basis that it is somehow more desireable than chaos, at least alone. Anarchy and chaos are always temporary states. Anarchy is never permanent chaos always eventually settles back into some sort of order, because human nature demands social entities and will instinctively revert back to some sort of civil order and society. Anarchy and chaos are the most potent and fertile grounds for drastic, unavoidable change.
Thus, I can see Loghain hawke, while not necessarily being "pro-mage", seeing the blow to the Chantry as being a blow to Orlais, and thus, good for Ferelden. I think Loghain Hawke would even want to take advantage of the chaos for Ferelden. A widespread mage uprising and anti-Chantry rebellion could be a good opportunity for Ferelden's monarch to wrest control of the Circle from the Chantry,
Loghain said there was nothing he would not do for his country. Hawke Loghain should be similarly minded, in the fact that whatever it is that he believes strongly in and holds closest to his heart, he will be ruthless in protecting or achieving his goal. How you interprety this for your Hawke is up to you. And realistically, this mindset could also be used to side with the templars. Loghain, like msot people, seems to have an innate suspicion and distrust of magic and mages in general, though he is not as paranoid of it as say, Templars or other Chantry fanatics. He could decide that mages amok could be a bigger threat to Ferelden. Though the big question is, what is the bigger threat: mages gone wild, or the Chantry (read: orliesian tool of control and domination).
When you considered that Loghain damned near allowed Ferelden to be swallowed by the Blight because he was more paranoid of the Orlesians than the darkspawn, Loghain Hawke could go either way, really.

Siding with the Mercenaries
Lusting after Aveline, but getting really sad about not ending up with her.
Seeing the Chantry as a tool of Orlais he starts under mining their power base little by little.
He wont trust Anders at all, or Fenris, or Isabela... or really anyone but Bethany and Varric after the deep roads.
Its so fun playing a guy who wont trust anyone and really goes out of his way to be bull headed and rude when people deserve it.
He will keep hitting Sebastian over the head with "GO BACK AND DO YOU DUTY" though a lot.

And honestly, let me ask a question.
You don't think Loghain would be paranoid about an entire army of lyrium addicted warriors that are all commanded by Orlais? Hmmmmmm.... sounds like a bigger threat than the Grey Wardens if you ask me.

He and Maric allowed the Chantry to remain in Ferelden, and Loghain himself is at least a token Andrastian. I doubt he would have much trouble with Free Marcher templars acting on their own initiative to restore order in their city.
Whether Ferelden and Orlais could ally themselves against a common threat like the Qunari, that would be an interesting question.

Aggressive Hawke is very direct and no nonsense.
Renegade Shepard is a psychopath.
At the very least I dont have Hawke's face erupt into a techno volcano.

Don't know what the standard on slavery is in other countries, like Nevarra. Though I doubt the Nevarrans have open slavery, or even a large black market. Still, this does not rule out a slave culture by other names, such as strict, rigid serfdom, or "indenturued servitude", or other such things. But Tevinter and Antiva seem to be the biggest markets for slaves.
And if Loghain was hellbent on not having Orlais assist with a friggin Blight, which exterminates all life, period, I don't see him changing his mind over the Qunari.
I'd be interested, though, to see what Loghain thought of the qunari and the Qun. He's not a devout Andrastisan and would be apathetic on religous grounds, but I think he'd probably think the whole thing was a crock, like the Chantry. Some aspects might interest him, but the rigid caste system would ****** him off, as a man who was born a farmer, but who became a general and a noble. He'd also laugh at their ideas of women not being warriors, given Rowan and Cauthrien. (And if you notice at the Landsmeet, most of his bodyguards are chicks. It seems Teyrn Sexy already has a legion of Ferelden fan girls ready to slay anyone who calls him a traitor
He would, however agree with them that the nobility of Thedas are a bunch of childish parasites who constantly cause pain for the people they rule for petty, pointless reasons. And that the whole practice and concept of Andrastianism is logically ridiculous. He'd be very interested in their strategy and military techniques, as well.

Another thing I was thinking, which Loghain do you want to play? Young Loghain, older, more mature Loghain, sleep deprived psychotic Loghain, or Loghain post Warden beat-down?

And of course as Skadi said, Loghain would disagree with a lot of aspects

I had the impression that Tevinter was the only place slavery still existed legally, but there certainly is a black market, as Fiona's story shows.Skadi_the_Evil_Elf wrote...
Probably several places. Antiva seems to have an elven slave market, if Zevran is anything to go by. Even if it is a black market, Antiva seems to exist almost entirely on shadow politics and black markets.

I think Tevinter is the place where it is practiced most freely and brazenly, and perhaps the place where it is actually a legal and major institution of their society. But I'd imagine, given what I've heard of both Antiva and Orlais (like you pointed out Fiona), there exists a tolerance towards slavery, especially elves. And if even if it is technically illegal there, from what 've heard, the authroities pretty much ignore it and turn a blind eye.
Though I can't see Loghain selling Ferelden elves to the Orlesians(let alone knowingly allowing Orlesian slaver/human trafficers), he's already contacted Antiva for Zevran, so he certainly has no qualms there.

Ooooh, that just brought up mental images I didn't expect to have at seven-o-clock in the morning.
*cheesy steel drum music in background* Introducing the latest video in the Mages Gone Wild DVD series... Apostate Spring Break in Antiva...
*Various scenes of partially de-robed mages running amok, coconut drinks in one hand and shooting lightning with the other, engaging in general debauchery. Someone swan-dives off a balcony into the hotel pool*
*Anders, pre-going-cuckoo-for-Cocoa-Puffs, grabs the camera for an EXTREME CLOSE-UP* "This is AWESOME! Everybody's kissing everybody! Wooooo!!!!" *runs off to join balcony-jumper in the pool*
Wow, I get to go to work with Mages Gone Wild stuck in my head. Oh, I feel baaaad for my co-workers.

You know, it's funny you mention this. I was in the DA2 forums, having a chuckle over Anders the "Apostitute" and wondered "Damnit, why the hell can't my mage pimp herself out at the Pearl! She know lightning spells too, as well as Spirit ones!" If nothing else, she could certainly pay of the big tab she ran up using Sanga's "surprise me" option...over and over and over again!

Like instead of being executed he was exiled.
He looks younger but acts like Loghain does after his exiled.
Still is nutty about Orlais.
Still thinks everyone cant be trusted.
Still a very direct and I CAN DO IT MYSELF type fellow.
Fun to play as.
