If I keep getting Loghain/Duncan Hawkes to chase after and collect, I will have such a phenomenal concentration of epic hawt pixelated man win, that Kirkwall and the world will be saved from Armageddon. Meredith and Orsino will spontaneously combust, all the mages and templars will drop sword and spell and have an orgy of love of epic proprtions, and the moment before Anders blows up the Chantry, Ser Pounce alot turns his laser beam of doom into a rainbow. Justice flees before the awesomeness of the Furry One, Anders collapses in joy at being reunited with his soul buddy and gives up blowing chantries forever. The Chantry is humbled, and in repentance, calls an exalted march on Orlais.

So, keep them coming. :)

I only have one real "hot" male Hawke so far.

Posted Image

He was my Merrill- Rival romancing Hawke:

Nothing like being called a racial slur and getting tossed out of someone's house to kindle the fires of love!

Nope. Doesn't need to. He gets much more graphic descriptions verbally of some of the things I find amusing.

No wonder my poor dear wakes me up with his frequent thrashing nightmares.

So I posted the blog about Arcturus' vision (see sig). No game has every done this to me. Though I might share my Cerberus oriented ideas vis a vis the Mass Effect universe.

So long as it involves love machine programming for Legion, I'm game. B)

That is making me wonder what I should I name my female Hawke first playthrough. I'm thinking Jezebel. Are there any particular opportunities in the game to be a completely psychotic demon possesed sex crazed, home wrecking psychopath? Especially if it involves plotting someone nice's downfall?

Not sure how aggressive female Hawke is with the aggressive personality (tip - your "dominant" personality gets based on what type of responses you pick most often, with the general options being goody-goody, sarcastic Cloud Cuckoolander, or aggressive/grumpy bastard).

However, you really strike me as someone who would adore Sarcastic Hawke. So, try sticking with the purple responses. Sarcastic Lady Hawke is my favorite so far... totally in her own little world at times and makes the most inappropriate comments at inappropriate times to inappropriate audiences -- sometimes vaguely horrifying her companions.

Great example is a quest in the final stages of the game where you are to go infiltrate a suspected blood mage meeting. Sarcastic Lady Hawke replies with "Oh? Shall I slit my wrists and dance under the moonlight to blend in?" Even better is Anders responding, "I'd pay to see that!" And then your other two companions and the First Enchanter stare at you both in thinly-veiled horror, about two seconds from b-a-a-acking awa-a-a-ay slo-o-o-owly.

Yeah, Skadi, you definitely gotta experience Sarcastic Lady Hawke. Posted Image

Oh, and even though he's a boring choir boy, I think it's worth picking up The Exiled Prince DLC and doing Sebastian's quests JUST for the Act 1 quest in the Harriman Estate (not to mention I never get enough of Anders tormenting the boy about having a likeness of Andraste's face on his crotch - er, belt buckle). Be sure to explore EVERY part of that mansion before going all the way downstairs. There is an utterly PRICELESS cutscene and the companion's facial reactions are hysterical.

"The feather! USE THE FEATHER!"

"Felicitate me!"

LOL forever

Ok, the part of my brain that thrives in the gutter (which is the whole thing pretty much) is looking forward to playing DA2 now more than ever.

I watched Anders torment Sebastian about Andraste's face on his belt buckle. LOL, that's my boy, Anders.

On that note, when Anders bombed the Chantry, was it supposed to be the magical equivilant of a nuke? Including radioactive fallout and radioactive contamination, so that like generations to come, the ruins become inhabited by flesh eating mutants?

Because that would be kinda cool. Actually, that would be really cool. The Free Marches become Thedas' nuke testing grounds because it's so contaminated from all the crazy sh*t, and Kirkwall resembles something from The Hills Have Eyes.

Nah, appears to just be a big kaboom. An "earth-shattering kaboom", if I may borrow a phrase from good 'ol Marvin the Martian. Although, I never fail to be utterly fascinated by watching all that debris sort of... whirlpool around in the air before being blasted about the countryside in every direction.

But Kirkwall basically sits on a Hellmouth, so I wouldn't be surprised to eventually see freaky shiznit appear there. Trying checking out "The Enigma of Kirkwall" codices on the Wiki. There's no quest or anything related to it (although you get an achievement for collecting all of them -- three per Act), but reading those codex entries is fascinating. There's an underlying reason why everything is so bloody insane in that town... why the mages there are more prone to blood magic and abominating themselves than elsewhere (it ain't ONLY because their particular Circle is Stalag 13 gone horribly wrong)... why normal, non-mage folks seem able to consort with demons outside of the Fade... it's like a frickin' Old School Tevinter Pet Semetary.

I've been reading the thread and wiki codexes on the Enigma of Kirkwall. Yes...it's awesome, and I'm inclined to believe that Kirkwall was possibly the place where the Magisters sundered the veil to enter the fade physically, when they stepped into the Golden/Black city and became corrupted. Though some of the theories I have seen are even more weird and intriguing.

Though there is no quest, something tells me that this Enigma is going to play a part in the big, weird events to come, in a sequel. I do not think the game was set there by accident, with all the innuendo for something Earth Shattering.B)

All I know is that I would have left Kirkwall by the time act 3 is going on.

Grabbed my friends said goodbye, and left for Fereldan.
I miss the smell of Fereldan... dogs, and mud, and the ... blight.
Kirkwall smells of crazy mages, and oppression.

The Arishok was a cool dude.

I think the Qun is severely ****ed up in many regards though.
Siding with the Qunari would have been pretty cool though....

Can someone post a formula to create Loghain's face in DA2? I really would like to play as him, when I get the game for PS3. I'll play as a sheild and sword warrior and I will always pick the red options lol.

That depends on perspective. For someone like you ( I'm guessing here so don't trash me if I am wrong ) who has a stable life a decent family and a secure future ahead of him if he continues with his studies then yes the Qun wouldn't be so appealing.

But you see, there are quite a great deal of people who live in poverty in the world ( billions even ) who live in poverty, who have no chance to improve their lives and no one will give them such. In the Qun ( at least that's how I interpret what I know ) each person is valued no matter their rank. Hell I can see a great sense of equality in the Qun then in any society today.

I more take issue with the insanely harsh practices with their mages, the keeping women in specific roles, and then hunting down anyone who choses to leave the Qun.

There ARE good points to it.
It however is an intolerant system of fanatics that really has its failings.

And yet it is a far better system that many I could name, even those today.

In regards to women....the only specific role they cannot be is to fight in a war and that really is related to practical matters. I am sure the Vietnamese would like to boast about their all woman army which almost beat the Chinese back a few hundred years ago but the reality of the matter is that there are several sound reasons as to why women have not been used on mase in war until the modern age, and those reasons need to not be related to women being seen inferior to men ( I think the Qunari would kill anyone who would dare suggest they view the women as inferior to men in their society ).

From a practical viewpoint it makes perfect sense to not gather an army with a large number of women in it. They would require special armor for instance.

As for harsh practices regarding mages...when the Qunari turn people to tranquil then you can talk about how harsh they are...until then I firmly believe the Chantry is worse.

What I especially admire about the Qunari system is that the Arishok, despite being the supreme commander of all things military, is still accountable to the law like anyone else and can't coerce the other 2 members of the Triumvirate. Checking the power of the military and subjecting it to the law has always been a pain in the ass in human history and is no small feat.

This speaks volumes about the effectiveness of Qunari education (or brainwashing) and the strength of their institutions.

I am not a huge fan, but what I've seen of the Qunari political system in terms of efficiency is respectable (certainly more impressive than Ferelden), and I am very curious to learn more about them. I feel that we only know 1/3 of Qunari society, as all our interactions have been limited to the Antaam.

I have an innate distrust of any organisational system of hegemony whereby those in positions of authority decide the fates of absolutely everyone, no questions asked. I can't really judge how - for lack of a better word - fairly or effectively their society runs based on Chantry hearsay and a few angry, shipwrecked soldiers.

As for harsh practices regarding mages...when the Qunari turn people to tranquil then you can talk about how harsh they are...until then I firmly believe the Chantry is worse.

That does come up actuallly, and not even restricted to mages.

Fenris: The Qunari waste nothing. They would reeducate you into a loyal follower of the Qun.
Isabela: Pfft. Could I refuse?
Fenris: There's always qamek, which turns you into a mindless laborer. Like I said, they waste nothing.

Anyone who refuses to adopt the Qun becomes a 'mindless labourer'? Sounds less happy-happy-joy-joy now, strangely.

Tried to sketch a youngish Loghain...I was hoping someone could help me out by telling me if there's anything that I definitely need to fix, and I'm sure there is. (Either for if I actually finish this drawing, or to keep in mind for future stuff.) I don't know why, but I've had a hell of a hard time trying to draw him.

Very promising --many aspects of it are definitely classic Loghain and I love the facial expression. I know it's facing the other way, but perhaps you can refer to this pic for some slight bridge of nose/depth of chin adjustments. . .

He is a tough one. Many have tried but I have yet to see an absolutely perfectly rendered Loghain (though there are several commendable efforts out there, of course B)).

Also keep in mind that his left eye is the slightly crazy one:

Posted Image

I don't know if that's supposed to be from an old injury, or what, but it's pretty consistent: that eye always bugs out/looks up higher/opens wider than the other one.

It's his little imperfections that make him both so interesting to look at and so tough to draw.
