I think that aggressive Hawke is a bit more direct then Loghain.
Still fun to play.

I don't know what you're talking about when you say you can't do hair, either. His looks great! Can't really give art advice, though. I'm a doofus with art.
Aw, thanks! Did you also comment on it? That is -- I responded to a comment recently -- so maybe it was yours?
Heh, I think most anyone is qualified to give art advice to at least some extent. I'd give the average person at least enough credit to be able to determine "his eyebrow looks funny," yeah? But of course I won't complain if you only give me compliments, haha...

Yea I watched it a week or so ago actually.
I dislike the fact that Black Legion Chaos Space Marines die like flies, but still!
Oh and I have to say it:

Then there's whole bit with the Daemon at the end where Patreous pics up the hammer and two shots him...after the Daemon had just massacred quite a few battle brothers easily. I will never understand what kind of tactician would leave such a relic on a ship instead of taking it into EVERY battle!

And Bhelen is of course awesome. Many say that it's this Origin that damns him, but for me, he shines there.
I recalled something that I had slipped my mind. The messenger with the dagger that asked Trian to give it to the noble was told by Bhelen to do so. Initially, I thought it was just Bhelen playing a prank on his older brother, he obviously likes to poke fun at him and he has a sense of humor. But it's likely that this was in fact calculated to keep building up Trian's jealousy towards his younger sibling. If Bhelen was this meticulous with tiny details like this, he must be a master at understanding people's psychology.
He's a good actor too

I think an important reason as to why I think Origins surpasses not only DA2, but also the ME games, is awesome NPCs like Bhelen.

I would be curious to find out what Loghain would think of Bhelen. On one hand, he obviously understands what needs to be done, specifically on the military level, with his conscription of casteless. On the other, he is a crafty manipulative politician, the kind which Loghain does not like (and he is bad at it).
I think Loghain would adopt the same mentality as many do here. He'd think that Bhelen is a good king, but not worthy of respect as a person. Of course I find him awesome as both king and person.

@Addai: Oh, okay! Well, it's good to know, anyway.
Was wondering if I could get some more input now that I've made a little progress on my sketch. I already know I definitely need to redraw the legs (am actually working on that right now), and I don't know how I didn't catch that while I was drawing them the first time, durr (in my defense, it's more difficult to see on the bigger version). Extremely questionable proportions aside -- since I know pretty much nothing about armor, any help anyone can give me in that area is appreciated. I've sketched out most of it but with no details yet...
I'm thinking that perhaps I need to make the armor on his shoulders wider/farther out? On his right arm, at least...? Maybe? Blegh, in retrospect maybe I should have waited until this was better before making anybody look at it...

Bitenomnom, I can only say what I think you already know about the legs; otherwise body proportions and armor details are so far out of my league that I can only shrug and trust that you and/or someone more knowledgeable about these things will figure it out. Looking like a promising start, though. And. . .is that the Starfang he's carrying? :innocent:

Heh, I meant for it to be Maric's sword, actually...sorry to disappoint. XD I hope it does actually resemble it...oh, now I'm all worried. (However, in that vein, you could probably [very] easily persuade me to do some art of something from your story...particularly if it would, say, expedite the appearance of a new chapter... *cough*)
But speaking of the sword, I've also been trying to decide if it's correctly proportioned...it seems...a little short, maybe? I have no idea.

P.S. I recognized it as Maric's sword before I saw your other post, so you drew that accurately.

Yes, I was originally going to draw him with his back looking a bit straighter, but when I tried it, it seemed a little...unnatural, I guess? (Maybe it has something to do with the perspective, as well.) I figure, he just mowed his way through god-knows-how-many darkspawn and certainly has reason (reasons, more like) for looking a little tired. Though, if you do think he might look quite a lot better less hunched over, maybe I'll try a separate sketch with that changed (yay lightbox!). I didn't want his posture to convey...I don't know, pride, or even composure, exactly, so...
Oh, okay, good! Whew! Glad it's recognizable.

My very-close-second guess would have been Maric's sword. I know that it and the Starfang have basically the same shape except that Maric's sword is dark and the Starfang is bright and shiny. But the proportions look right as far as I can tell.
I confess that I was hoping for the Starfang because I was thinking maybe of at some point asking (twists foot and looks awkwardly at floor) for maybe some art from my story.
(I am up this late attempting to crank through the last of Chapter 6, by the way, so fingers crossed for this weekend or possibly the beginning of next week, depending on how long my beta holds on to it.

I would be immensely proud to have her adventures made into art.

Ah, good! I admit that in the last game I played, the DLC got messed up (and in the one before that, somehow in the cutscene where you're supposed to get the meteor ore it skipped past the part where the party shows up there and you can grab it -- I was so confused becuase it just seemed like a totally random cutscene), so I actually haven't had the chance to have the Starfang made yet. But in this game, assuming nothing else goes awry, I will.
Aww, I'd be more than happy. If you have any more specific ideas, etc., and reference images, that'd be immensely helpful; send me a note or whatever when you have time. Naturally, I don't want to say anything about when I'll work on/finish it -- this current drawing itself is single-handedly pulling me away from a lot of classwork I should theoretically be more concerned about doing right now -- but if you pester me diligently, it will most certainly get done. I don't promise a lot, but I'll try my best. I hope that sounds reasonable?
And a new chapter will surely be fantastic inspiration! Yay!

Awwwww I am sure the armor is very cuddly.
@Bitenomnom : It is looking great!!
What I have noticed is that his right leg is a little shorter compared with his left, they look the same size in your drawing, but due to the perspective the left one should be shorter. I don't know if it was your intention, but I think his elbows are too close to his body like he is holding himself or something... you could loose it a little bit, since he is hunched and tired? And this is tricky - you don't need to hear me - but....with his left leg bended like that I suppose his weight should be mostly on his right leg, which means his right leg should more aligned with his chest...
I think this one matches your perspective using the camera from the game:

I think an important reason as to why I think Origins surpasses not only DA2, but also the ME games, is awesome NPCs like Bhelen.
There is more to a game then memorable characters and politics. Besides Orzammar and Loghain there is very little that make the Origins story+characters stand better then Dragon Age 2.
Personally, as a whole I like Dragon Age 2 much more then I did Origins. Fenris, Bethany and the Arishok are quite great characters that rival Loghain, Sten and Bhelen for me.

I agree that there's more to a game than memorable characters and politics, however, I feel that at least the former, and to a lesser extent, the latter, are essential parts of a truly epic RPG. The other things I consider important, are an immersive story and plot, the ability to role play, and awesome lore. As well as reasonable game mechanics that make fighting more worthwhile.
I will get DA2 next month, so it is good to see a different view point regarding the game, since most reviews have been negative or neutral. I think I shall enjoy it, though probably not as much as I did Origins, where I had more freedom and control to RP my own character, as well as see consequences of my actions.
