Have any of you replayed it to side with Iorveth yet?

I tried, but do I hate freaking hate it! I get to see a bloody cliche story with people coming together under one banner to fight a massive threat so that they can have a better tommorow! All the while led by a Virgin, hot woman.

Seriously.

I am going to very soon, I was too busy and my mind was somewhere else all this time that I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

Should be interesting, but I doubt it will beat my Vernon Roche path.

Hah yes, Costin, I take your point. I'm a bit like that with DA2 - had to force myself to side with the templars in one playthrough just so that I could see how it went. In fact, it wasn't really worth it because the battles were exactly the same.

However, Witcher 2 gives you totally different chapters so it'll be interesting. I must admit I could not bring myself to side with the Scoia'tael in TW1, not after the stunt they pulled at Murky Waters. I only have a pro-templar and neutral playthrough for that game.

The elves are even bigger dicks in the books if you can believe it.

In the books you learn they slaughtered quite a few peasants during the wars with Nilfgaard, well **** them all.

Yeah. I mean, I feel quite bad for them, given their situation, but they don't exactly inspire sympathy. Which is a shame as some of the elf guys are kinda hot. (Which makes me a little sad at how fuggly the elves are in DA2).

I actually do sympathize a bit, but I cannot imagine a situation where I'd side with them without reluctance.

What I do love however is the utter irony of their position. The elves are also foreign to the continent and they came there thousands of years ago as invaders, and they fought and defeated the original inhabitants, dwarves and gnomes. And now they are whining about humans doing the exact same, honestly believing that the land is "theirs" in absolute.

Irony or hypocrisy Knight? :P

Think that when I am going to side with Iorveth I will kill Saskia...just to **** their whole dream up.

Interesting situation though in Chapter 3 for me on Iorveth's path....do I save Triss ( and kill one of my favorite characters in the game ) or do I save Philiap and work against Radovid as a result...hmm.

I personally wouldn't kill her. Though I find Saskia to be a bit of a fool, I do find her ability to rally up humans and nonhumans together to be quite impressive.

The North has to deal with the nonhuman problem, for as it stands they are always going to be tools for Nilfgaard. Two solutions exist. Either do something similar to Saskia (which I'd prefer), or wipe them all out. Apparently Henselt and Dethmold are doing the latter but I am basing that solely on a trailer and we do see some dwarves in his military camp.

Once word gets out she's a Dragon...well then she's pretty much done for, and that nation she was dreaming of will never come to fruit.

Furthermore, killing her ( and Stennis for that matter ) will mean Aedirn will be a ripe plump ready to be plucked by Kaedwen. There won't be a third Vergen and no resistance with those two dead.

As for the nonhumans, the only solution I see ( besides killing them all ofc, which isn't something I would do ) is to kill the Scoia'tel wholly ( and there are a lot of nonhumans who would rather NOT get involved with the Squirrels, and actually hate them ). Iorveth's no different then Yavven, but I don't think the north will be able to survive let alone have the time to implement reforms, but we shall see.

Temeria is mostly intact. Redenia stronger then ever, Kaedwen problably only losses a few hundred men in the fighting for Vergen ( and becomes much stronger if they win and you don't kill Henselt ). So eh...we shall see.

(Witcher 2 spoiler warning)

Well, the dragon bought it in my game, which I just finished (it's quite short, isn't it?) - had to put her out of her misery after the tree incident.

I was impressed by how much choices mattered in the game. In my game, I went with Roche, in Chapter 2, allowed him to kill Henselt (mostly for Ves' sake), then in Chapter 3, went with Roche again and saved Anais (and holy shizzle at what Roche did to Dethmold...), then gave her to Radovid as planned, put the dragon out of its misery and then let Letho walk as well. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out in future games and DLCs.

I don't think Henselt raped Ves...rather Ves offered herself to Henselt to save the others...and Henselt....well he spared just her.

Personally if I had been Henselt I would have killed them all. Was foolish of him to do otherwise.

Either way, he did order the death of all the Blue Stripes, so I let Vernon have his revenge.
Did you end up giving Anais to Radovid or the Temerians? That's one decision I'm not 100% with. I kind of liked Radovid in TW1 so I went with him but, hrm, I'm not certain it was really the best choice.

I'm on Iorverth's path now - I only replayed the last part of Chapter 1 because I couldn't be bothered doing that blasted kayran fight again so I expect it won't take me too long to finish.

Constable Natalis is not sure he is capable of controlling Temeria for a week. What would make him capable of holding his position as constable if Anais is in Temeria? The nobles would fight each other even more for controlling the girl.

Furthermore, with the impending invasion of Nilfgaard, a strong Redenia and Kaedwen is preferable to a weak but independent Temeria.

Well when you put it like that, heh. OK. My instincts were right, then. I tend to go with what feels right for the story rather than thinking in purely tactical terms.I just didn't really like killing those Temerian knights at the end after they called Roche and Geralt traitors. Left a bit of a sour taste, y'know?

And Roche was planning a coup. I would have done the same thing if I had been in Henselt's shoes and I most certainly wouldn't have spared Ves either.

Either way, a big reaosn why I spared Henselt is that I felt Geralt would be a complete an utter idiot to kill one king now after he spent the entire game trying to clear his name!

I couldn't find it in me to spare Shile however...what happened at the first battle of Vergen...was too much.

Ooh, just in time to save this thread from Page 2, I delurk to quietly mention to those who care that Chapter 7 of Unbound has been posted. In this chapter, histories are examined, a possible future is considered, and some old ghosts tap our heroes on the shoulder. Also, Dagna FTW.

And coming soon, artwork! :wizard: Bitenomnom will be producing an illustration for each chapter. The inaugural masterpiece for Chapter 6 will be up soon (*cough* uh. . .right?) Deep Roads storytime fun with drunkenness. I couldn't be prouder.

Hey - a Loghain thread. I really come to like this character a lot. It's nice how he and my warden earning each others trust and friendship over time. And she really gave him a hard time at first because of him selling elves as slaves (she herself is Dalish).

*waves* Elves can be ok with Loghain --my Dalish actually felt sorry for him from the beginning, as he seemed to be the only shem who knew what he was doing, and he was having such a hard time getting any of the other shems to listen to him. :P The slavery thing did knock her for a bit of a loop, but it's not the "all elves must hate Loghain and kill him on sight" deal-breaker that one might think.

One could also RP that the Elven Warden knows, or found out, about the Night Elves division led by Loghain during the rebellion (I think this should have been in game). That elf could come to the conclusion that what Loghain did was not personal or driven by racism.

As promised, artwork! :wizard:<3:wub:

This is from Chapter 6 of Unbound. Storytime in the Deep Roads with Leliana (featuring Zev and Oghren as Greek chorus). Drunken berserkers are drunk. Yes, I said berserkers. There's more than one in this picture.

Click on the pic or go here to see it on Bitenomnom's deviantArt page, where you can leave comments and praise and kudos and squee.

Very nice! I like Loghain's wry little grin.

It's nice to see a happy sketch since I'm writing such unhappy stuff lately myself.

Loghain is surprisingly cheerful at this point in the story --as much a surprise to himself as anyone else, considering the circumstances. But he's been blowing off quite a lot of steam in the Deep Roads. This is Miller Time. :P

Maybe he's getting nostalgic at being in Ortan Thaig?

However, they're by Cadash Thaig in the picture, so. =p
