The Elder Scrolls: Equestria

Okay, seriously --on the one hand, you marvel at how much time some people have on their hands; but on the other hand, you're glad they did. Even for a girl who was never into MLP, this is pretty epic. ^_^

LOL! I know, whatever I may think of their time handling, I can't help but thank them for stuff like this! And it's not like I don't waste my time with similar endeavours...

Meh, the ponies are ageless really (at 26 I think I would also qualify as "too old" for it). I think in both of your cases its more a general dislike of the cutesy stuff.

Sometimes, I find it hard to believe that I am as young as I am. I did not know you're older than me for instance.

Oh and Z, watch this

Out of curiosity, how old did you think I was?

And that trailer reminds me that if there's one thing I did like about The Witcher it's the music. And this will sound odd, but after watching that I feel inclined to give the series another chance. The voice acting from the second game seems vastly improved, at least from what I heard there.

Around 20-21. Maybe 22-23. Like around my age.

I know you hate TW1, but TW2 is very different in a lot of ways. Most of its flaws, like sex cards, very slow beginning...etc are gone.

The Voice Acting is not on Bioware's level, but it is improved. And for me, it's no contest, TW2's writing is much better than Bioware's and Persephone even agreed and she loved DA2.

Sooo, yea I highly recomend it. I am playing Act two on a different path and it's almost like a different game. Choices have a lot of weight.

Don't get the Witcher 2 if you can't be bothered with combat in a game, just saying this game won't let you breeze through the combat sections ( Like Origins or DA2 ).

Oh this isn't an issue. I'm a massochist for hard games. I may be critical of games that are too hard on "easy" setting, but that's only because I feel it prevents other people from having fun. I myself love to be challenged and even b!tch slapped occasionally.

@KoP

Hehe, I wish I could go back to when I was 21. ;)

And I will probably give Geralt another go. Tis funny how this change of mind occurs after Pony Geralt and Pony 2: Assassin of Kings. Oh, the power of ponies. :P

Wana change places? I am tired of being 21.

Well you have to remember that both were related to me in some ways.
So I am pretty sure I am part of that compelling power. :P

Hmm alright, though I should point out that trailer doesn't use music from the game.

This one however does: www.gametrailers.com/video/love-the-witcher/713988

TW2 had some epic trailers.

But by far my favorite. It's like the trailer was custom designed for me. No action, no romance. Just juicy politics.

I simply need to note the irony that Loghain's thread has incorporated a My Little Pony hijack.

The big guy would probably be confused. lol

Zjarcal - Oh I'm not too old for internet memes and other silliness. What I meant was, being a venerable old lady of (nearly) 44, My Little Pony arrived when I was already 15, and of course, teenagers are so concerend with being "grown-up" they tend to look down on such things.

Of course, I have now reverted to childhood and spend all my spare time playing games or riding rollercoasters. I also share my bed with Bagpuss.

Indeed, the thread can be hijacked by little colored orlesian ponnies, but we can not have sexy Loghain in it... :pinched:

It's definitely an Orlesian plot. I mean, really. Sparkly, cute ponies? Totally a frilly Orlesian thing. Posted Image

Wait, what?

I know I've been missing from this thread for a while but since when was there a ban on that? No wonder I barely see Skadi on any of the last several pages. . .

Well, I think the fact is, we've rehashed Loghain's motivations umpteen times and have more or less run out of things to talk about. So it's all about fanfics, fan art and ponies now. Plus the odd diversion into other games.

Last time we went into gushing it was said that "the page should be purged because Loghain deserved more than that"... and now we have sparkling ponies...<_<

In other randomness, I encountered this little lady in the courtyard of my apartment building on my way home this evening. I live in a major US city.

Goodness! Did you call Animal Control?
There are deer in Richmond Park, several miles from where I live, but I don't usually see anything more exotic than a fox. We have a lot of foxes - they are terrible for tearing open rubbish bags and leaving the contents strewn everywhere.

Welcome back!

Awww, thanks, though I'm technically not back until Friday. Just last day in US, sadly. Posted Image

I did, however, to my delight, discover that my MLP army of aramgeddon was still safely hibernating in my storage. I reminisced fondly back to the days when my silky mained shock troops crushed my step brother's G.I. Joe and Cobra forces beneath their sparkling plastic hooves. Good times. Someone needs to make such a video game. Posted Image

They had already been called --I thought-- when I saw her; the building manager's wife was the one who warned me she was there and she seemed to have a plan as to what to do. But the doe is still there this morning, hanging out, eating the landscaping:

Of course Animal Control might be taking its time seeing as it's not, like, a bear or a coyote or something, and she's pretty chill where she is.

Real late to the party on this, but I agree that Loghain has even more depth than I expected.  I knew he wasn't Snidely Whiplash or anything, but seeing his reaction at the Landsmeet and realizing that he really was totally dedicated to Ferelden (with the blind spots of a tragic hero) was very satisfying.  Yeah, he had to rationalize a few things (like we all do), but his rationalizations were internally consistent and rooted in good intentions.

Bottom line was that I felt a tinge of regret at the necessity of executing Loghain, because I was able to see how he had arrived at his conclusions.  They were wrong, but I could see the path a hero could take to become that kind of villain.  He had to die, because he was a traitor and he had, you know, caused the death of thousands, was involved in plots to murder nobility, and started a civil war with a half-baked claim about why he had to abandon the king on a battlefield.  Still, I wished that things could have been different, that someone could have made him understand before he embarked on his mad conspiracy.  And so did Loghain!

On this first completed playthrough, I found myself wishing that Alistair was more like Loghain.  (I didn't try to groom Alistair for the throne, since he seemed to childish and reluctant.  I kind of figured that the grownups would find a way to unite Ferelden and carry it through the Blight.  In time, Anora and I came to love each other with a passionate blend of cooperation and competition, and Alistair became immortal.)

Anyway, Loghain's character is one more reason for the writers at Bioware to trust their instincts instead of provide fan service.  Well done, guys.

Welcome to the party! I was relatively late myself, but the folks here are always appreciative of thoughtful, well-reasoned argument. And most of us have executed Loghain in at least a couple of our playthroughs as well; not every PC can work his or her way around to sparing him. :) Conversely, I still haven't found a good enough reason to put Alistair on the throne. . .

As a Dalish Elf I thought Alistair was the best choice.  Someone weak, nice, who could be easily persuaded to get Fereldan to hone up to the ****ty way they treated the Dalish.  As a Dalish, I wouldn't want the xenophobic nationlist Loghain to have any influence or the strong willed Anora on the throne.

I put hardened Alistair on the throne. He shows backbone, thinks more about himself for a change and maintains his sense of justice. I wouldnt trust Ferelden to be ruled alone by people like Anora and Loghain. Hardened Alistair says it best. They are the sort of people that think they are the only ones that can fix things and everyone should just stay out of their way.
